Daylilies and tomatoes? Can I plant them together?

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

I have several daylily seedlings and since I already have the toms weeded.I was wondering is there any reason I can't plant the daylilies between the tomatoes? Thanks,Jody

I'm interplanting perennials with my veggies this year. I think my only concern would be not having your lilies too close to the tomatoes - you don't want your maters to have to compete for water and nutrients.

That's the only problem that I see too....give them a couple of feet...the tomato roots can spread out a lot further than you'd expect.

Maybe I'll just put them in there own row away from the tomatoes. Thanks for the info.Jody

I put a row of daylilies next to a row of tomatoes too. The bed is four feet wide and one row is down one side and one row is down the other side with room to walk between them.

Good idea,might do that too.Thanks,Jody

I ran out of room and these daylilies were questionable. LOL They will be getting friends near them though because I need MORE room. On a good note though, they are all growing just fine and sending up scapes and blooming. :)
