I went to the movies last night and saw Mr and Mrs Smith. I never realized before just how pretty Angelina Jolie is. Gosh life sure is rough for some, all that beauty and Brad Pitt too. Oh well back to scrubbing my kitchen floor and wait for George Clooney to come to the door looking for directions. Hey, it could happen.
Life sure is hard on some of us.
She lives in some remote village in Thailand or Vietnam or ...I dunno exactly where in the Far East. No toilets, no running water or electricity. When she's not shooting a movie, that's where she is with her young son. I saw an interview with her on Jay Leno and she talked about her remote jungle home. I was pretty stunned listening to her actually. LOL
You wait for George Clooney. I'll wait for Colin Firth. DH says if he or Russell Crowe ever make me an offer, he won't hold it against me for going for it. I said the same thing to him about Angelina Jolie and Selma Hayek. ROTFL
-Julie
You had to bring up Selma! She's smart, too. Bet Meg Ryan wishes she had never met Crowe!
OMG I think Angelina Jolie is beautiful! I have always thought so. There is one other actress that I have always found intriguing and I'll be darned if I can think of her name! LOL
I don't have to obsess of Brad though. I have seen too many pictures of him looking dirty and ragged. ROTF Besides, I would NEVER want to date a guy that was more pretty than me. For that matter, he can't look better in a dress either! :)
Although I wouldn't mind if Brad Pitt came to my door. But It wouldn't be too sad when
Val Kilmer answered it. ;o)
See --- now DH and I were talking about this just last night -- and at first I said -- Sure honey Angelina comes knockin you go for it.... than I thought about it.... She better not, I sure would hate to have to mess up that pretty face... LOL!!!
Heather
LOL
Charlize Theron is the other I could not think of! Between her and Angelina, I can't decide which one is more beautiful.
Saw Mr. & Mrs. Smith the other night too. What did you think of it stetchworth?
Just stay away from Richard Gere. I have first dibs on him. :)
DH likes Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts.
Needless to say, Pretty Woman was a favorite movie of ours for a long time. LOL
I've not seen Mr. and Mrs. Smith yet. Is it out on dvd or just in theaters?
Oldflowergirl, I did enjoy it and I would see it again and without giving anything away it was a little to far fetched.
JoanJ. It just came out in the theaters the other day.
I was pleasantly surprised myself. My dh made the same comment as you did, but I think it just added to the humour of the movie. I was also surprised that Brad Pitt could play a little comedy, and very well I thought. Anglelina Jolie is beautiful, even though I felt bad for Jennifer Aniston. But it was a neat movie beause it had a little bit of everything and without a lot of swearing and nudity. And although it has a violence warning, there really wasn't a lot of blood, just action! :D
Joan -- My DFIL went to high school with Richard Gere -- NOT KIDDING! You should see his yearbook photo--- LOL! Skinny as a rail! DFIL was 2 years ahead of him.
Heather
You're kidding! I wish I had gone to that school. :)
Nah -- he was nothin special -- and you'd have had to live in Syracuse NY.... A bit chilly for me. I'll try to get the yearbook off Dad and scan the picture (Dick was on the wrestling team -- yup they called him Dick....LOL!!!!!!!!)
Heather
LOL. I'd love to see a picture if you can get it.
I was looking through the local theatre listing, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith isn't showing around here yet. I'm going to go see it when it comes though.
What about Antonio Banderas, if he was the first thing you saw in the morning when you woke up you would think you had died and gone to heaven.
Yup and Gere's parent still live there I hear
North Syracuse
His Dad was a Insurance guy
Now wait a minute JoanJ....Richard Gere and I go all the way back to American Gigolo, and I have at least three videotapes of that film. I'm willing to share first dibs, being the generous and kindhearted old bag that I am, but not second place. And I don't expect him to come to the door, I'll go there, anywhere, if he just lets me know when. Isn't it amazing that he still looks so good!! Yum. Oh excuse me, getting carried away.........drool...............sigh.................
LMBO! Hmmm.....let me think about it. I'm not sure if I'm a kind old bag like you. :)
I'm waiting for some old bags to have thier car die in front of my house. Like Sophia Loren or Ann Margaret. Id probably have a stroke runnin' so fast. "It's OK mam I can get on OK on one leg, as long as I don't have too much of your luggage to carry." Stay here and get leered at.
ROFLMAO frankay! :)
They would probably whip out cell phones and call for someone to remove them from a present situation. If it was me I'd ask, "Can I go to Aruba now?"
Yes, they look great in the right lights, with all that make up but have you ever seen a movie celebrity close up? In bad lighting? With out make up? Some just look plain unnattractive. Some just look ordinary. Imagine what people you see everyday would look like with all those favorable conditions. Some look beautiful. The ones that look most beautiful to me are the ones with a natural, realistic beauty. They look pretty much the same with or without make up.
I personally like to see them on talk shows when they are free to speak. I have seen so many that can barely form a sentence or the most ignorant things come out of their mouths. It makes ME feel better to know they are human. LOL
Around Nashville, there are a lot of music celeb-sightings. Eeverybody's got at least one story of the time they ran into [fill in the blank.]
The other day DH was telling that Lorrie Morgan and Sammy Kershaw were spotted cooking chicken because their help quit. (They own a chicken eatery.) The scoop was she pretty scruffy-looking. I reminded him that NOBODY gets glammed up to fry chicken (and even if they did, a few minutes in a hot, greasy kitchen would make your makeup slide right off and your hair droop or frizz - or both.)
It's sad that Hollywood has created a completely unrealistic portrayal of celebs. Let's face it - any ordinary person would look drop-dead gorgeous or handsome if you give them a few months with a personal trainer, personal chef, access to the best plastic surgeons and cosmetic dentists, regular pedicure/manicure/massage/waxing, plus a cadre of makeup artists, hairstylists and wardrobe consultants. Then - just in case that's not enough, create just the right lighting for a photo shoot, and air-brush out any remaining imperfections.
I've already started pointing out this stuff to my pre-teen daughter who sees the magazine covers and the glimpses of teen stars on TV, and wonders why she doesn't look like them. Argh.
It can be awfully hard on kids in this day and age!
WELL said Terry! I don't begrudge the stars so much but it does make people feel bad, especially kids.
The problem is that some people don't realize that it's not real. They think there's these impossible standards that they have to live up to.
ditto - ditto = and ditto, it's the kids that suffer, they dont know the reality of life yet, and expect to look like them. it is a shame. even for adults, we look at the magazines and what we see isnt reality, but we would all like to look like that.....
someone once told me, just dont even look at the magazines, and its not like they have any earth shattering articles in them....
Yes, but ads with made up people are every where!!
Then there are shows like Extreme Makeover or The Swan, that DO put all that effort into transforming a normal person in the exact way Terry described. I guess at least then you can see how NOT normal it is, if it becomes a fulltime job achieving and maintaining your "good looks." There are more important things in life!
Forget it, I don't have that kind of time. And if I did, I'd spend it in the garden!
I like that! It's creative.
Two days into our honeymoon in Jackson Hole, Wy. My DH & I went to the local Albertson's for deli meats to make packed lunches. While in line, a couple of people in front of me was a tall man in a suit. He turned around & I quickly thought to myself, "Gosh, that older man sure is handsome!". The checkout girl was having trouble with the register so we waited in line for a while. Then the man turned, looked right at me & gave me a smile. I smiled back but then for some reason felt uncomfortable because I then thought, "Oh! no, I hope DH doesn't think I'm flirting." I don't know why I thought that but I did so I turned to my DH and tried to start a converstion but we really didn't have much to say at the time. Then the blond pretty girl that was in front of me, kept turning around to us & smiling. DH & I didn't know what to make of it. Finally the man payed for his item and started to walk away. As he did, the blond girl turns to me & asks, "Was that Harrison Ford?". In that instant I realized it had been him but he was walking out the door & my camera was in the car. I was so embarred that I didn't recognized him & so wanted to say hi but by the time we paid & got outside he was long gone. Even DH said he looked familiar but couldn't think of where he saw him before. Oh! well me missed our chance but I do have to say that he is as handsome in person as he is on the screen. Still one of my favorite actors.
Angelina isn't hard to look at and at least the lips are natural but she wouldn't stop my parade.
Kick everyone off Gilligan's island and give me a one way ticket with Sandra, Selma and Jennifer and you better take a picture cause you'll never see or hear from me again.
Still not sure how Sandra Bullock, unmarried at 40, ended up with Jessie James. Is it the bad boy, money, or fame that locked her up?
A few years ago my SIL and I went golfing one morning really early and as we were walking through the parking lot, this fella was leaving and as he walked by us he slowed way down. He kept looking at us & smiling like he was expecting something. So I asked if it was very wet out there (usually is on that course) & he seemed surprised and said it was not too bad. My SIL has a death grip on my arm & I look at her & she looks really weird. He keeps smiling, she keeps looking weird & I started laughing. I told him bye & as I drag her away she starts stuttering "that was, that was" and I said "Vince Gill". LOLOLOL
She still to this day tells people about that & how I was totally unaffected. I just smile. What she doesn't know is that I am not a fan of his. Now Tom Selleck? I would be stuttering "that was, that was" and making a fool out of MY self! HAR
Hey Happy Face;
I see how you are.
-
Don't like those country boys.
Well almost country. Norman, Oklahoma is almost country but to close ta OK City!
Tom Selleck
was born in 1945, Jan I think!
Detroit if I recall.
-
He's to old fer yosef. That old man is 60 years old!
I did learn to like him as he grew up some, but these boys jus get better with a little help.
Another 10 years of so and he'll get full grown.
Now ya take mesef. Been told I was like a child.
Play a 12 string getfiddle, brandname too and know some of me cords.
Fretting a guitar isn't so hard because your fingers remember.
Singing a song is different.

________
Since this is tha General Discussion forum I should mention my what's her face was in Pleasant Hill, CA this past week.
She dropped our camera on a rock & fell into tha salt water.
I wore my best dirty cloths all week.
I mowed down most of various gardens.
Watered new plants, that are coming along.
Worked our produce stand.
I think this is to much work!
Forget my namebrand guitar.
-
Never could carry a tune!
Forget Tom Selleck, I mean, I'm purty!
He'll get thar but ya see, I only know one thing!
I know one thing! There is one thing I know! of all things there is one thing I know!
-
Having said that, there is one thing i know. there is one thing i know.
there is one thing i know.
HAR Charlie, you are too much! Tom is just a spring chick, and it was him as a "country boy" that first caught my eye in those western movies he was in from wonderful Louis L'Amour books.
I'm finding it hard to believe you have not performed on the Grand Ole Opry, my friend. You can sing a mean song. hehehe
And I bet "whats her face" was fit to be tied dropping that camera! Poor girl. Hope she had a good time, too bad you couldn't get away to come too.
Brad PItt in Legends of the Fall is the Brad I love. Angelina is beautiful, but a little strange looking at the same time. Her living in a jungle with no plumbing sounds like just the right place for the real Brad, since he doesn't look like requires a regular shower and shave. Every time I gripe at my husband about shaving he reminds me of the pictures we've seen of Brad.
Did you see Troy? Wow, that was a pretty movie!
