It's 8PM - Do you know where your buds are?

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Ursula. Here's a picture at 8:30 tonight. It does look like it is finished now. It was such a gray day that it may have lasted longer than it would have if the sun was shining. Thanks for investigating the genus/species for me. I'll do some checking too. The buds definitely look different than my two other epi oxy's, and the leaves look different too so this must be some sort of hybrid. I like it:-)

Karyn, there does seem to be different varients of Epiphyllum oxypetalum because some have huge 12" flowers and some have slightly smaller flowers. There must have been some hybridizing going on between species somewhere at some time.

Well couldn't you guys take a picture of your flower,(make a note of the size )and have a detailed picture of the leaf
if you all put them in the database, they can be compared at the same time ,and be easier to figure out the hybrids
especially if someone has a named hybrid

or is that a dumb idea?
or just not doable?

Northern California, CA

Really not doable as the PlantFiles is designed for plants that have a positive ID. Since there are so many contributors to this vast database, entries need to be just about "bullet-proof" so Terry and crew don't spend all their time moving and deleting images of plants with questionable ID's. It's a full time task just trying to keep it as accurate as possible. :-)

Just thought you might like to see OPEN Epi oxypetalum flowers at 6:30 am. I find that sometimes on cooler mornings, they last just a bit longer and close a couple of hours later. This morning the temp was 58 F. ( Like little Vampires they go to sleep when the sun comes up...)

And the view from the side, warming sunshine on their pretty faces. ( there were actually 2 flowers last night)

Just beautiful Ursula....Since I've only had one blossom on my young cutting (last October), I'm really enjoying seeing all these beauties. :-)

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Those are stunning pictures, Ursula! Wow! You take fantastic pictures. That last one especially is a work of art. I hope you will upload those into the PlantFiles here: http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2443/index.html You don't have to since there are so many pictures already, but that is just a stunning photo.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

This is the second one on this plant. opening later then the one the other day. I tried to get some leaf in it. This phot is 9 PM PST

MG,
just beautiful!!! I love the sequential pictures! Are you getting used to the scent?

And thank you all, I will enter the "flowers in the morning sun" into the PF.

Beautiful flower, MG - and very good pictures, too. How would you describe the scent? I'm not a brug person, but strong flower scents often put me off. Except plumeria, which I love!

Great images of lovely flowers MG, so pretty!

Two fat buds from the second crop that is now setting since these plants were split up out of two of my big tubs. You can still see the nub from a long past bloom many weeks ago at the bottom of the image.

Anyone else have buds to share??? Waiting for the big show of Oxies I hope to be seeing from all of you lucky people!

Last night we had 2 Epi oxypetalum flowers opening and the plant is now budding pretty much everywhere.
Epies Gitty Paetz and Edna Stoddard are budding right now. I am waiting patiently for them to flower! Any day!!

And tell me you took pictures and enhanced them with that new "aroma" software. :-)

Aarrrg, I am home and it is raining. Maybe we get a break before it gets dark.

One of the buds posted yestereday has opened.

Ursula said it.....WOW! That's about the best photo of a non-white one I've seen! WOW again! :-)

That's a great neon pink, Candy!

I did have an Epi bloom the night before last, but I had no time to post yesterday. I tried to post a picture about 4:00 a.m., but the site was having trouble.

Here are some pics:

This opened while it was still light out -- about 7:00 p.m., I think. Here is a picture without the flash:

Here it is with the flash. This is my small one that I got from Glasshouse Works and the one that we are not sure is actually Epi oxy.

Here it is about 4:30 a.m. It closes about half way the next day and remains half closed for a couple of days until it fades completely.

Clare, it is beautiful!!

Thanks, Everyone:-)

Is it too late for me to add my "ooooooh" and "aaaahhhh"???? LOL

So very pretty Clare and just a tad green with envy here as I keep a daily watch on my "probably oxies" for buds. Lots of nice little leaves being added, which is a good thing too....I guess.

Note to self......stop whining!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Candy, it's never too late and thanks! LOL! I wonder if those buds in the last picture will open all at once. I have another Epi oxy that I got from Logee's. It had three buds, and two of them have fallen off. I am hoping that the last one stays on so I can compare flower size, etc.

Fair Lawn, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes, I know where the buds are and they are taking their sweet time,
This is Epi Gitti Paetz -

And the next one is Epi Edna Stoddard.
These two plants never had their winter chill. This year they are going together with my red ones into the cool garage to promote more blooms.

Puff....puff.....puff....puff

Just trying to help. :-)

This is not very original, I just did the same thing for darius.....we'll see tomorrow whether it worked or NOT!
