Darius - yes, found out in high school about snipes. I don't remember whether my dad told me it was a bird or what when he duped me. Mean old man! I think I was told to whistle for them, but don't quote me.

LOL Never visited the general discussion forum before. I think I will be visiting often now - you guys talk about anything huh?

Perhaps we can get the day after "plant a tree day" officially changed to "pea on a tree day"? What do you think of that? Should we start a petition? ;-)

That sounds good to me. :o)

First heard about the urine deterring wild life when we were living on a mini-farm and I had a large vegetable garden. DH thought it was a good idea, and immediately started to make a barrier around it. I went outside and suggested that he might want to wait until it got DARK...........................

So funny ...

Well, being hardy Alaskans, we have never been shy of water the flora... in the woods, on the lawn, off the porch, and now, in the compost pile. We also purchase Urea in bags to add to the compost.

A few years ago, some misguided soul released some domestic rabbits along the greenbelt (coastal edge of town), and they have flourished due to the lack of preditors. Recently, I sold ornamental cabbage to the City for beds along that area. The rabbits were delighted and made short order of it. A City rep contacted me asking what would deter the rabbits, and now I know what to tell them!

Did y'all notice the "name" of this thread changed? Admins busy at work!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Too bad it wasn't made a little more descriptive (but how would you phrase it, anyway? LOL!).

N. Mississippi, MS(Zone 8a)

I forget - what was the name before they changed it?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Don't think I can post it, or they'd delete it too

You know, I do believe you are right. I saw LOL come up and said I didn't remember watching any thread with that name... lol

Haven't yet tried that deterrent for rabbit and deer, but... Do remember peo discussing "snipes" while stationed in army, but I never went hunting for them. ~ Suzi :)

I'm glad for it...been to too many forums where there's none, and grown weary of the flame wars and nastiness! I'll gladly sacrifice an acronym or two for a positive and friendly place like DG to exist.

The previous subject line was regarding rolling on the floor laughing one's posterior off, I believe. ;)

so anyway - you can buy Urea? I always heard that drinking a few beers and relieving yourself in the compost pile was good since there is yeast in the beer. I think I got that from that goofy guy on TV but had no idea you could actually purchase Urea in a bag. Oh if only I would have known that when I was in High-School. I am sure I could have been expelled if I had. ;-)

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Yes, in fact, you can purchase bags of urea. It is really high-test nitrogen. However, too many bags, and I'm sure Homeland Security would be making a house call! LOL!

N. Mississippi, MS(Zone 8a)

as they should - boy wouldnt that be a riot. No honestly I just wanted it for the pee value. lol

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Sorta makes you wonder how the get all that powdered urea into a 50 lb. bag doesn't it.
