It's not facing such a situation.... but turning the back! I wanted to set up the camera to 'auto' and run and sit there on that chair [not seen]. I did that, but I can't recall where I lost those seconds.... I'm still to cover 15 feet of running and sitting to face the camera! Hope you notice the DG-T'shirt and the urgency shown in the 'body language'! What a bad shot it makes!
There was another one in the 1960s -- my grandfather was in that group picture -- Rotary Club. Those were days when the 'auto timer' was coming into vogue. So, the photographer, also a member supposed to stand for the picture in the group, it appeared, went and stood after making the setting. He got a doubt and so wanted to check on it. The picture shows this man stepping out of the group, in blurr. We have laughed and laughed at this in our younger days. Now, this fate has befallen me!

Has anyone faced such a situation?
The picture frame you see is of Lord Rama, a painting in the traditional Mysore style [from the epic, Ramayana]. It has a nice history. My grandfather had begun his law practice in 1925 and the painter was one of his early clients. After he won the case for him, the painter-client expressed his inability to pay the fees. Instead, he offered two of his paintings [this is one of them, the other one is at my mother's place, even more grand] as fees to which my kind grandfather who was known for all the nice qualities of a humble, kind and generous qualities of real gentleman agreed to it and so they have stayed here with us. It seems this one was in the place then, where I have kept now [just two days ago it was brought from my m's place] when it came to us.
This is our living room, my altered book-shelf becomes the stand for this picture. On top right is the picture of my grandparents. It was he who built this house in 1911. On top left is his elder brother who jointly saw through tough times and were able to save money that eventually helped their families to come up.
I was supposed to have ran and sat in that old rose-wood easy chair [seen on the left] for that picture above. But this one is even worse -- this was also set to auto, but hardly had I moved, the shutter went off! The chair is my favourite reading spot, a CFL is above it, for reading purposes. The 'paper-stand next to the chair [hope you can notice it] is made from waste material.. wood and plastic.

lol I have done that before. Timers just arn't long enough.
Dinu, I had to laugh with you, I have done that, too! It was nice to glimpse your fine home, your grandfather built a grand place. I love the arches and columns. Thank you for sharing this with us!
It's great to see inside your house. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. It's a wonderful treat. We now have a chance to get to know you better.
Aaaa, that was one of the few minutes I had been home! We gardeners are usually out, [but not down!] you see! Those arches were the architectural fashion of that era and it also saved a lot on beams. There is this design in two other places. It's been my pleasure to share whatever I can, from half way round the earth. Had I possessed a digicam, the story would've been different.

Dinu, you look like you were making good time during your run. Maybe you should just keep practicing trying to get to the chair before the timer goes off. When you are finally able to make it and a nice picture of you is taken with you panting from the run, you could try out for the Olympics. :o)
Thanks for permitting us to visit your beautiful home and telling us about your family.

I'll sure be there for the veterans' olympics - please tell me if you happen to hear something about that! LOL But the problem was, I had forgotten how many seconds it would allow! And now I understand the value of 'a second'! there are many who understand the value of one hundredth of a second [those who have lost a medal by that margin!]. It sure is a thin line, isn't it?
Dinu
You are so right.
