An elderberry blooming.
Where's Everyone?
A gerbera that I just planted. When I bought it, the girl asked if I had ever had them before. When I said no, she said they do not like to be transplanted, and I should just put the pot in the ground, but score it beforehand. I did that. Last night I looked at it, and the flowers were absolutely drooped over. I thought I had killed it already. Watered the heck out of it and it is fine today.
Okay, I'm done now!!!!!! You can all clap and cheer!!!! LOL
Glenda
Oh, by the way, the clapping and cheering should be because I'm done, not for the pictures. I am a pretty novice picture taker and get very frustrated sometimes. It's fun though.

Well, the pictures were wonderful anyway Glenda. Lovely plants and flowers and good shots of them. I especially like your gerbera daisies and the explanation of how to look after them. There's another thread that has been discussing gerbera daisies in containers - http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/510005/ - a lot of people think that they're too expensive for the return. Its good to know though, that they don't like to be transplanted-it explains the trauma mine suffered after transplanting from nursery pots to container - I'd planted three in that same pot, the petals fell off most of the flowers and one plant died. That was at Easter, and its just now gone back into bloom.
Here's mine.......I want to comment on how gorgeous everybodies plants are but I'm having an awful time getting pages to load today (Dave has the new parts put into his computer/server now but looks like some bugs still need to be work out).
Gonna try it anyway..
Beautiful roses Donna...like Todd I wish we could grow (AND overwinter) the hybrids easily here!
Todd I'm going to be looking for the Evelyn Rose now.......it's really captured me! Ü
I love that poppy of yours Cristine!
Wilma the Lewisia has always been a favorite.....I remember hunting for it for a very long time after reading Lois Holes write up on it.
Glenda what can I say (other than PERFECTION)..........I've got to pack my bags and move to Victoria!
Paeonia tenuifolia finally blooming (sooooooo much later than the ones down East ;).

Great photos everyone! I just love looking at them all. And Glenda, I am here clapping and cheering...for the fabulous job you did with your photos. Gerbera Daisies are pretty fussy. But I have grown them for years and always in Pots. I have overwintered them successfully over the past two years, but they will wilt and scare you to death for reasons other tham just transplanting. Just try putting them in any kind of hot sun and watch them fold. But they always come back. Drama Queens, that's all. :)
The Red Hot Poker that Sandy gave me at the RU hasn't started blooming yet, but now I know what it will look like when it does. Thanks everyone for sharing your photos of wonderful plants and flowers. :D
wow, I'm gone for the day and the forum fills up. WTG you guys, nice to see. Beautiful pictures everyone.
TODD, I was talking to someone tonight that lives in Deer Lake, and she said when she left on May 23rd, it was 13*C, I told her that she was missing the heat wave. I also told her about your tulips and she mentioned that you guys are 2 months behind everyone in weather.. Glad to see that you are finally getting some summer.
Linda
Glenda
great pictures love all the plants and the tufa pots you made
that elephant ear is ready for leaf casting.
lilypon
love your peony, I don't have one of those,,
maybe someday,, when I find room in my garden for it..
Thanks Christine and Wilma....it's one my Dad gave to me 13 years ago for my birthday. It was purchased in Moose Jaw, planted in N. B, then dug up and moved from North Battleford to Moose Jaw and has sulked for a number of years.....it's finally happy and growing again. Ü
Ceedub, I'll make a note of the poppy name. Thanks!
Glenda, you're killing me with those photos! I need to be in a warmer climate for sure. Seems like I'm spending months waiting for summer when the rest of the country has been revelling in it for ages.
Lilypon, that peony is lovely. I've seen them in the nurseries in Calgary but they are sooo pricy. I've never seen them for sale locally.
MG99, we are later than usual this year but generally we are only a month behind, say, the Toronto area. Certainly, we are 2 months behind BC.
As evidence of our lateness, my Erythronium 'Pagoda' are now peaking.
Don't feel bad Todd, Pickering's next door to Toronto, we had a brutal winter, and we're having an extremely late spring- I've been calling it our "zone 4b winter/spring". My poppies are the only thing blooming (well, okay, some white creeping phlox too). Columbine and dwarf korean lilac flowers are just starting to open today, irises, lupins and delphinium haven't even made buds yet. My garden centre saved the day with all their wonderful flowers for my deck. This weekend was fairly cool, but very sunny, and today it's going up to 30C, so I suppose we'll be doing a bit of catch up!
Christine
Well, if you are all looking for me.........I have been up to my neck working on the biggest show here, Vancouver Garden Show from June 9-12th....all the volunteers have been rounded up for our booth and this afternoon, we set up the display! So have fun gardening! Elaine
Did you send me the info on that show too, for the Events Forum, Elaine? If not. I'll put it in real quick.
Lovely pictures Todd. The Primula auricula is really eye-catching.
Joan
Todd, your Evelyn rose is such a lovely shade, and your Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum' is a very attractive plant.
Thanks for posting.... Joan
ggd, I like your fishes. Hope you're going to post a picture of your lillies when they come along.
Joan
Pam, your Paeonia tenuifolia is very nice - I like the foliage.
The flower too, of course - :=}
Joan
LOL thanks Joan Ü ........it's my fav perennial. My father had three growing in the backyard for forty years (they are a very, very, long living plant). They were lost when their house, more or less, burnt down (~a year and a half ago). The heavy equipment that was brought in has done quite a number on the plants in their yard. :(
edited to say here is the story http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/458287/

Pam, such a shock that must have been. It's nice to see that it is being restored. Left a message there also.
