I'm still up!! And on a cleaning frenzy.... gutted the bathroom and cleaned it stem to stern - even dumped a load of bleach in the shower to get all the gunk off the bottom of the shower stall. Had to to it twice, but man does it look great! I should do it more often than every other year!!! LOL Now I'm taking a break, sipping a cappiccino, and getting ready to tackle the vaccuum. My goal is to work until noon and then play in the garden..

Cloudy here, but that is ok as I work in the house better then. When the sun comes out, I find myself gazing out the windows all the time - just itching to get out there.

This weekend we are going to a thing called "Festival". It is held in the city, tons of food booths, kid things, and 5 or more stages with all kinds of entertainment going on. Future DIL is on stage Sat evening - doing belly dancing (no comment from my lips....) I haven't been for years as it is always jammed full of people. But we have to go this year, and I am looking forward to the food stuff!! The only downer is you have to park a mile away and I am hoping there is a shuttle somewhere! Remind myself to wear comfy shoes...It is supposed to be 84 deg, so I am really gonna look dorky, cause I am wearing a red baseball like hat...Sun for hours about does me in.

Good Luck on the eye surgery - my mom needs it done, but she is a real chicken....I need to get her to read your posts. Eye doc said that if you live long enough, everyone will need to have it done.

Cats scratching at the screen - gotta go!!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello everyone. Time for ice cream, so I brought some. Add your own favorite topping, I brought some of those too.

Sarv, you can come and clean my house anytime you get tired of doing yours.

I'm still planting my garden. Today I got brocolli and bush beans in and hauled the tomato cages out of the weedy corner and set in place along the row so I know how much space to save for the tomato row. There's still plenty to do down there including dealing with that second ant nest and hauling more wheelbarrows of manure from the horse shed for the tomato row and the squash patch. Those plants are still in the greenhouse growing while I make homes for them. I just came up from the garden for lunch and to get some electrical tape to patch the hose that had a geyser like Old Faithful when I used it yesterday. Some of the hoses have seen better days. A good use for leaky hoses is to drill more holes in them and call them soakers.

Hope you all are having a great day.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I'll have some of that ice cream, Mary....lets go and sit with the horses....I miss mine......Still can smell him...

Had a great day....worked until noon, (for pay) and then worked all afternoon for fun....Now I'm bushed...pun intended.

I have some Smucker's Milkey Way sauce for the ice cream and boy is that yummy....anyone else want a try?

Come on over, sit a spell..........

Hap

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

I'll be more than happy to sit, my dogs are barking...got home this afternoon and DH suggested we go see a movie so we did. Madagascar, which was cute, but Disney can't equal Pixar for animation. Then I had some big pots to return to a store because I found similar ones at Wallyworld for less. Thought that was the end of it, but then we went to Sam's. I only spent about $60 bucks. which is a world record for me, it's usually over $100...but he found trousers and bought three pair, and a pair of walking shorts, and some stuff he needed for the garage, and spent $125. He doesn't usually shop with me, he said he didn't see how could get out of there with any money left at all. Sam's is a guilt trip for me.. I don't approve of how they pay their employees such low wages that they have to go to their state's health insurance plans in order to have any insurance, and they discriminate against women in their corporate structure. But, still, I go. And feel guilty.

Then, after walking around that whole store, we stopped at a garden place to buy another privet because winter killed one of ours. and then because it was already 6:30 he suggested we stop for a fish fry at our favorite family restaurant....Three huge pieces of battered cod, rolls, salad, muffins, a big baked potato and dessert included for $10. We split the dinner and I'm still stuffed like a Christmas goose.

Brought home a slice of raspberry cheese cake but I think I might have room for a teeny scoop of ice cream with some of that Smucker's on it since I went and put on a pair of "loose" pants as soon as we came home. Well, not immediately, there were five little fur people whining about dinner being late. Someone else can have the cheesecake.....it looks very good. But I don't want to be a pig. Too late.

Oink.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I'm stuffed too, M5... and all from stuff I'm supposed to eat on this diet. However, I have been very good on it this week (down twice what I expected) so I will have a small dish of ice cream and try a dab of that Smucker's Milkey Way on top. I so seldom eat desserts that it will be a real treat!

I agree about Sam's policies, and I still shop there on occasion, although now it's a hundred miles to the closest store.

(Zone 8b)

Hi all,
up early this morning, setting of on a five day baby sitting stint while DIL goes to visit her sister and new baby. DS will be back on Monday but he has to work so we will be staying on till DIL gets back. I'm not sure I'll have the chance to pop in here for a day or so, so y'all be good while I'm gone!!
Carol

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Good Morning!

The sun is shining!!! First time in a full week, and maybe the last time for another week. I hope to get the #$%&* weedeating done today, plus fertilize all my potted stuff. Not an exciting day planned, but at least it's productive. : )

Y'all have a great day!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I'm so glad SOMEONE is having sun....good for you darius...I'm in my 5th day of $&@#&%^.. and not liking it. I did get some gardening in yesterday between the showers and today is just as bleek, but hopeful to turn a couple of spades of dirt... It's just so dark and gloomy.....

I know I shouldn't complain, but it's so unusual for here...That's why I moved here. In Rochester, NY, from whence I came, we had 6 weeks without sun.....that was the last summer that I lived there... and one of the reasons I moved to FL. Can you imagine, 6 straight weeks of not one peep of sun? Even for Rochester that was a record. Plus, the enitre month of August, same time, it ran from 55-60 and rained. How's that for someone who has saved up for an August, Summer(?) vacation? UGH..

Well, I'll survive...just carping...sorry to bother everyone, but it sure gets me down....

Going to get out before the rain comes back..

Have a great day

Hap

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. I can relate to gloomy days and weeks having lived in places like western Washington, western Oregon and southeast Alaska for most of 40 years. For the past 20 years or so I've lived where the sun shines more often than not and it's wonderful! I used to peek out the window as soon as I got up to see what kind of a day we were going to have and if it wasn't raining or just gloomy I was elated! Now I expect sun and if it isn't shining it surprises me, just the opposite of the first 40 years.

Today I'll be helping neighbors brand and eartag calves and replace the lost eartags on some cows. Before and after that the garden will get more fertilizer and prep for planting and the lawn needs a haircut. The weeds are still growing at a phenominal rate and I've only got about 2/3 of the beds done one time. It's almost time to start over.

This morning when I took Fritz for his early walk he was doing his usual sniffing in the tall grass, got real excited and came up with a mouse! He was really proud of himself but didn't try to bring it inside. He usually finds some old mole hill or hole where he tries to dig something out and comes up with nothing but dirty paws and face.

Well, off I go to accomplish something!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Sun is shining here and it is muggy and hot!! Love it!! Another just like it scheduled for tomorrow.

DH and I are replacing landscape timbers - man what a terrible job. I keep sneaking inside and grabbing something to munch on...poor guy, he is doing most of it himself. He is so darn exacting - measuring and measuring. I am more like- just toss them in!! Plants will cover them. We are almost done - just came in for a cool down and a bite to eat.

I took pics of all my gardens - I plan on doing that the first week of the month for the next three months. I did it last year and it was amazing how things changed. I forced all visitors to look at the pics!! LOL

My mom left me with her 5 african violets when they went to Fla for 5 months. She said she didn't think she wanted them back, so I promptly killed them. When she returned she decided that maybe she DID want them, and I didn't have the heart to tell her they were gone. So I told her they needed to be repotted. This morning she called and said they were coming out to get them -she would repot them herself. Man, did I have to move!!!! I rounded up 5 of mine that didn't look too sorry and repotted them. They are not nearly as nice as hers were. Oh well, she's lucky to get any!! I used to have over 100 violets, but have lost interest in them and seldom even water them anymore -they were too labor intensive for me!! I still find it hard to be completely truthful with my mom sometimes LOL LOL

Lunch is done - time to finish up the project!!

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

That story about the AV's and your Mom is hilarious! Some things never change. It's kinda' like the storys told of parents trying to replace a dead bird/fish/hamster thinking the child won't know the difference. LOL
Pati

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Pati, you hit the nail on the head....LOl

What a story,....I can see myself doing it, but only with my DD.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Just popping in to say "HI" and let you all know that I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my planting. YEAH!!!! Yesterday I planted up 15 containers, helped DH lay patio pavers on the north end of our house, and late in the day I managed to plant 3 sets of daylilies given to me by a friend. Oh, there was miscellaneous 'put a plant here...put one there' during the day, but those were relatively insignificant. LOL (NO such thing as 'insignificant' to me *these* days...every plant that makes it into the ground is a success story, trust me. :-) )

If I get back out there right now, I should be able to go off to the hospital on Monday knowing that this time I can relax afterward. (Whew! It's been a long haul for this old lady.)

TTYL,
~julie~

P.S. Did anyone else have any trouble getting the DG to allow you write a reply last night? I came in a read everything, then was going to reply. There was *no* "reply box" on the screen for this thread. ???? What was that all about? I was able to reply to Darius' 'You are Blessed' thread, tho. Hmmmm weird!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Everyone has been so busy! Had a big fight with DH, I bought big (cheap) plastic planters to put petunias in, so there will be some color in the soon to be bare garden area where the dreadful horsetail is growing, went outside today to put in the 'toonies, and he had put the perennials he dug out of the infested area in my new pots. In my good topsoil. And they probably all had root segments of the ^#$@!! horsetail weed in them. I threw an enormous hissy fit, which is not my general approach to this kind of idiocy. This on top of his dumping wood chips over two beds where I had seeded some annuals. Geeeeeeeeeeeez!!! I must be the invisible woman, neither seen nor heard. Men. (Sorry, Robert, had to vent!)

Julie, you've really accomplished a lot for someone who wasn't supposed to garden! LOL Your doctor would be so proud! Good luck on Monday. Now that you know how well it goes, you won't be as apprehensive as the first time. We'll be thinking of you.

Happy I haven't heard anyone use "from whence I came" since the old Jack Benny radio show days!! We usually have that gloomy rainy day after day gray in November, so I stock up on books and chocolate to slog through them. (Now I'm blaming the weather for my fattitude.)

I'm looking forward to seeing Sarv's photos, we take pictures every year too. Sort of reminds me to stop moving things around so much. But you know, some plants get too big for their britches early on, some of our mums last year were huge and needed relocating because they were crowding each other out. Same with the iris. Can't kill 'em. Gonna put some more back by the ant farm, it sure doesn't take them long to spread. I used to love african violets, but I don't have any now. They are nice in winter when there isn't another blossom in sight, but then they get leggy and weird and need more care and attention than I'm willling to bestow. None of mine are ever exotic or unusual, so if they end up in the compost it's not a big loss. And, Sarv, lay off the cleaning will ya? Got up this morning and cleaned the kitchen top to bottom, must have caught it from you.

Brought home a chocolate cake from Sam's, it's killer, so I'm sharing .....! No calories for you...!!Very dense, chocolate frosting and chocolate crunchy bits in it, too. Wait ....does it look like rain??????? LOL

Congrats to Fritz. Good Dog!! No mousies in the house. Mary, you work like there's no tomorrow. I can't believe what all you get done in one day. And Okus, babysitting for five days? What a champ. I'd rather stick a fork in my eye. Two forks.

Taking my grumpy self to bed. Supposed to be hot and sunny tomorrow, so I want to get out there early....NO mosquitos yet!! I'm killing wasps though. They've arrived early. Have a lovely Sunday all.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

We made it the "festival" where DIL belly danced. I tell ya, I felt like a skinny minne there! I have never seen so many fat people and the tatoos - all over their bodies. It was a great time to 'people watch!" We had tons of food - ahh what a treat... Feet are killing me so it was good to make it home again.

Sorry, I don't know how to do the 'picture' thing on computers. So you will all just have to come over to my house to see the pics. I'll provide the food....

I was out in the garden early this morning (I always do a garden walk first thing in my pjs) and I heard the wildest squawking. Sounded like we were in the tropics. Ended up being a pileated woodpecker. Man, they are big and certainly loud!

They keep threatening rain- but none has come. Things are really dry. The minute I haul out the hoses and turn on the sprinklers, it is guaranteed to rain.

M5- glad to hear that I am not the only one that gets in a snit with my DH> Happens almost weekly here, but we've been together for 38 yrs, so something must be right...I still don't understand why he just wont listen to me and do it my way LOL. Speaking of which, I hear him moving about, so I better get some breakfast a cookin!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again. It's rainy and cold with the wind blowing and the temperature nudging 40 from the underside! What happened to our summer? It was here yesterday and gone today. I guess it's a good day for staying inside and doing some straightening up of my long neglected house. Yesterday I was pulling weeds and sweating, watering things before I went to help the neighbor and after as well even though rain was in the forecast. I also mowed the lawn but the clippings are still in the wheelbarrows waiting for a break in the weather. This morning at daylight I woke up to thunder so turned off and unplugged the computer, something I should probably do on a regular basis during thunder storm season.

Yesterday afternoon I helped the neighbor with cattle. We got them into the corrals, sorted the cows from the calves and started running the cows through the squeeze chute to vaccinate them and replace lost or unreadable ear tags. They quickly decided this was not their plan for the day and a couple of them went over 5 or 6 foot fences and back to the pasture! Most of them eventually got vaccinated but the fence jumping complicated things. Not much use in getting them back in because of the adrenaline, plus the memory of escape is too fresh and they would just do it again and possibly hurt themselves or break the fence next time. So, we recorded their ear tag numbers and let them stay out.

The calves were ear tagged and branded, bull calves turned into steers and then turned back into the corral with the cows so we could match up some cow calf pairs. Many of the cows look alike, and a lot of the calves do too, so identification numbers are important if we are going to keep records. Some of the calves were ear tagged in the field soon after birth but most were not because of various things, busy people, agressive cows, several born near the same time and place, etc. They aren't as easy to handle as the ewes and lambs. There will be another small batch to do later since the calves have not all been born yet and we can get those escapees vaccinated with that group. One of them is a cow we call Stilts. Her mother was another wild one and she passed that along to her calves. They always have at least one white front leg, usually two so that is how they got the name. The mother cow was originally named Wild Lass but after numerous fence jumpings and lots of irratic behavior the L in her name got lost.

Well, time to get back to house projects. Hope you all have a great day.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

don't no if did a no no or not in woods in park look like butterfly weed bright orange tiny flowers leaves kinda fuzzy, so pulled one up to get start. and couple mexican hats think. couple others so pretty while was taking pic. of kids.. i seen big patches of iris figured it was a no no. so did not.. but so tempted... but it is tempting must admit see something growing in wild to snitch a piece ..???

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I've had a busy day, mostly in the kitchen. This new diet requires that I cook 3 meals a day so it seems like all I do is cook (or re-heat) and wash dishes, LOL. I guess it's worth it, because the scales keep saying my weight is down. I did manage to weed some, and get more mulch down over newspapers to control weeds around some hosta and astilbe.

I hear thunder in the distance so we may get the thundershowers after all.

Hope43, I'm always inclined to take a bit of something in the wild, as long as there's lots of it to leave behind. Excepting things like lady slippers and trilliums, of course.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh never seen them last two nothing really good but oh would love to to just see them in person. edit to finish i hit send right after that sentence.. maybe when don't have the 5 only one we will or i will try to walk a little bit in woods..take care.. blessings. Twyla

darius....eating is work!!! I love to cook, but OHHHHHHHHHhhh those dirty pots and pans......UGH....That's what I like about working in the commercial kitchen.....
1. Shop, they deliver, and help puts away.....
2. No table to set
3. No pots to do.
4. Very little clean up...(help does it)

I can cook for 300 in the time that it takes me to do a dinner party for 8 at home. In fact the 300 is done and forgotten in a few hours....It takes my 3 days to do the party at home.....Of course, that time would be reduced if I wasn't such a fuss-bugget...

Have a wonderful evening.........it's off to bed for me.....Long day tomorrow.....Catch you latter

Flowers from the wild....my dear stepmother was notorious for digging up wild flowers and bringing them home to put in her garden...she had quite a variety. always had a shovel and a bushel basket in the car just in case. My dad preferred to pick wild mushrooms..

Way back when I was a young mother, living on the edge of poverty, one paycheck to the next, and sometimes no paycheck at all, we were living in the city in a three room upper flat. I had two little toddlers, and she wrote to me regularly, always addressing me as "dearest one", or "dear heart". One day when I went to get the mail, there was a little box with wet tissue paper inside. Wrapped inside the tissue was a sprig of trailing arbutus, (a protected species at that time). She knew I loved the fragrance, and sent them to remind me of home. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about her and the sweet things she did for me. Some times she would tuck a dollar in with her letters, knowing how poor we were, and tell me to buy something for myself. What a blessing she was to my life. I still think of her often, when I pick up her sewing scissors, or look at some of her needlework I have framed.

Happy, I remember not only Jack Benny, but Mr. Keen, Tracer of Lost Persons, and The Shadow...and lots of other radio shows. And Don McNeil's Breakfast Club....and Big John and Sparky. Do you know the words to the Teddybear's Picnic? If you go out in the woods today.......I'll be 70 this October.......I think that's older than primordial ooze...........

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

I used to know the words to the Teddy Bear's Picnic...but now I'm too old to remember them. LOL

Hi everyone! Didn't get as much as I wanted done today, but the most important things are planted or potted up. We had storms off and on for most of the day so I was working between them.

Just wanted to say "Hi" before tomorrow's surgery. I doubt seriously if I'll be on the computer until Tuesday, so don't send out the search teams looking for me. I'll probably be sleeping off that sedative (Yummmmmmy! :-D)

TTYL...take it easy, that's what I'll be doing.

~julie~

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

My prayers are yours, Julie.....take care and we won't panic until 12:01 Weds am....then out come the hounds......LOL

M5, so you're a libra too? You have me beat by 5 years.....I will be 65 in late Sept. Ah, youth we are........

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Julie- I'll be thinking of ya and am sending good thoughts your way. You'll be back with us in no time - with your good vision you'll probably see all kinds of things that need cleaning now!!

Teriffic storms here last night- winds, hail, driving rain etc. - of course they came after a day of me sprinkling (what'd I tell ya..)
Today is sunny and nice. GS and I are about ready to start off for his school class trip. I've taken my dramamine and had a cuppa java. I keep telling myself it will be over in a few hours . Thank goodness the weather is nice. I do have another little guy to watch - sure hope he behaves... Our trip is into the big city - to follow landmarks. We will be on our own all day - I am not a good map reader, but I have my cell phone with me!!

I still have lots to plant - just can't get my fanny in gear. Tomorow is THE DAY to get everything in the ground....

M5 - loved your story about your mom. My mom is such a dear - I love her soo much. She is always giving and giving. Her husband (my sperm donator)left her when I was 4 and my sister wasn't even born yet. Never saw him again. Mom scrimped and slaved and made sure we were dressed nicely. I don't know how she did it. When she talks about it, she still gets teary eyed. No welfare back then...

Well, time to board the bus!! Hope I can grab a seat in the front!!

Quoting:

n. A person who fusses over trifles.

M5, great story about your mother! I only remember my mother making clothes for me when she could afford fabric (she was a single mom by then and a witress). One year I was in junior hi she made a pleated skirt of various shades of black, grey and white. I was inpressed that all the squares of one color lined up perfectly at the waist band. I will be glad when I can remember just the good things and forget the hell (mostly financial) she has put me through the past 10-15 years.

Julie, holding good thoughts for the surgery today!

The radio shows I remember are The Shadow (Knows!), the Lone Ranger, Fibber McGee & Molly, Digger O'Dell (the Friendly Undertaker) and a couple more at the edge of my memory I cannot quite name.

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Anybody remember Nila Max (sp?) "Let's Pretend"? I wish they had been preserved and put on CD's.
Pati

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Oh yes, Let's Pretend, and Henry Aldrich, and a Date with Judy, and.....sure is revealing that radio was a prime source of entertainment back then. Wasn't Digger O'Dell a character on either Fred Allen's or Jack Benny's radio show.? Darius, did your mom buy flour sacks to get yardage? I recall going to a store that had piles of them, with all the different printed designs on them, and searching through the heaps to find matching ones. We sure knew how to pinch pennies in those days.

Like Happy, I'm much fonder of cooking than of cleaning up! Wish I had little elves to follow me around the kitchen and make the mess disappear before I have to deal with it. If I didn't have a dishwasher, I'd probably make us survive on take out. Chinese on Monday, Pizza on Tuesday, Thai on Wednesday, Deli on Friday, you get the picture.

Back out to the flower beds....last of the bedding plants to put in...then weed for the rest of the season!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

M5, my mother didn't live in area where flour sacks were available... I think about 5 years too late for them.

I cook in the same manner (but not the same foods nor style) as my mother, using every pot in the kitchen! And I DON'T have a dishwasher, LOL. (Not even a Helper.)

Hello, it's me wandering through the kitchen again. Got my tea, lookin' fer the goodies.

Radio, oh yes, I remember listening to Fibber McGee and Molly. Remember the closet? he was always telling somebody not to open that door and then everything fell out with plenty of sound effects. I do remember Digger Odell, too, and my grandmother used to listen to Arthur Godfery, and thought he was wonderful but Grandpa couldn't stand him so he went to the basement and made noise in his workshop while that show was on. I lived with them when I was little. Wasn't there also a show called the Life of Riley?

Julie, I emagine you are less apprehensive about the 2nd surgery than you were about the first one. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Cold and showery again today. I'm tired of it already. Yesterday afternoon the sun came out a little and I got some plants out of their nursery pots and into the ground, and I pulled a few weeds before I needed to be going down the road to have Sunday dinner with my neighbors. I still have flower beds that have not had any weeds pulled this year, you can emagine what a mess that is! I should take before and after pictures.

This morning I could see a lot of ravens working on something in the pasture, so I went down to look. A dead lamb. I couldn't tell what killed it but it didn't look like a coyote kill or dogs, so maybe it died of natural causes. The flock seemed to be nervous and watched me carefully (maybe because Neut the cat followed me) but then a while later they all bedded down for a while to chew their cuds. The next time I looked out I could see them all coming to it for a look, standing around for a while and then moving away, a sheep style wake perhaps? Strange anyhow.

The next few days are forecast to be cool and showery, not good for the bean seeds I planted a couple of days ago. I hope they were far enough into germination so that they will not rot in the ground. I soaked them in water for a couple of hours before they were planted on a warmer day. Some of the other seeds will like it just fine. I hope the brief streaks of sun are keeping the soil warm enough for everything to be happy. I know it stays warmer than the air once it gets warm in the spring and it was nice and warm when I planted.

Fritz dug another mouse out of a hole in the tall grass on our walk this morning. He makes sure they are dead and then just leaves them to go sniffing again.

The sun is peeking out between clouds. I'd better work out there while I can without getting wet. See you later.

Whew, I guess I don't want to relisten to them that badly!!

Just hung sheets and pillow cases on the line, had to double up on the clothes pins because it is very windy, almost got blown across the yard hanging on to the fitted bottom sheet with one corner anchored....that would have been a sight!! Almost dry by the time I got the last pin on. whoooooshhhhh!!

Now I'm off to the garden store, Preen and Green! Drat those weeds anyway!

I looked this up for Julie, because I couldn't remember all the words either. Then, I couldn't remember the melody to the refrain...................until I woke up the next morning humming it to myself. LOL The mind is a wonderful thing to lose!!!!

Teddy Bear's Picnic

If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.
For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic.

Picnic time for teddy bears,
The little teddy bears are having a lovely time
today.
Watch them, catch them unawares,
And see them picnic on their holiday.
See them gaily gather 'bout.
They love to play and shout.
They never have any cares.
At six o'clock their mommies and daddies
Will take them home to bed
Because they're tired little teddy bears.

If you go out in the woods today,
You'd better not go alone.
It's lovely out in the woods today,
But safer to stay at home.

For every bear that ever there was
Will gather there for certain, because
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

CHORUS

Every teddy bear, that's been good
Is sure of a treat today
There's lots of wonderful things to eat
And wonderful games to play

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic !!

CHORUS

B. Kennedy )

Don't remember that Teddy Bear thingy but how about Froggy the Gremlin on Sat am's...Plunk your magic twangy, Frog-gy......then boom...he would appear.. Or after I was suppose to be asleep was Mr. District Attorney, The Phantom, The Green Hornet. oh those were the days......watching radio....

AND....speaking of old stuff....remember when TV first came in.........it was the best.....if you remember there were no summer re-runs............no re-runs..............BECAUSE....there was to taping then.....Everything was live......is that the greatest or what.....Already I sick of summer TV and I only watch about 2 -3 hours a day or should I say nite....8-11.

Ah, it's great remembering old stuff.....What will our grandkids remember?

Hate to change the subject. Old radio shows are great, wish they'd come back like in the 'olden days'.
This morning started out with another migraine, but some cafergot and aspirin and a rest fixed it. Then the bug bit and I decided putting it off any longer wasn't an option, building the entry arbor to the back firepit that is. Had the lumber for a couple months and was surprised at how quickly it went, and with so few mistakes.(and no swear words). Managed to raise the back frame except for the rafters.but the front one is a lot heavier and has to be turned around first which I have to have help with. When it is up and latticed the wisteria will cover most of it and make a nice covered arbor. That's one more job almost out of the way.A feel-good moment.

LOL, Yes I'd say that will take more than just you to set upright!

I finished everything on my "to do" list today except one small chore! I also sorted a few more odds & ends left from moving in last Fall. Found this photo of me with my mother taken in the early 1940's.
