San Diego Roundup Food
Naien,
Amazing Thai mashed potatoes, now you have me wondering what ingredient you use to make it Thai. I love trying new foods.
Dove
haha! good! ...and so cheap to make.
We can bring soft drinks! Need cups, plates, etc, let me know,
Annie
Would it be OK for me to see what my DGD has in mind for us to bring...I will have to shop when I get to San Diego? I'm sure we'll show up with some beer...LOL Jo
Not to worry, Jo & Annie -- not easy bringing food stuff when you're traveling. Just bring your own sweet selves. :-)
Well, We will be in Anaheim visiting family, sooo We don't mind bringing non perishables! thanks Kaperc, Annie
Chocolates are non-perishable ....if you keep them in a cooler!! LOL Jo
Do we need to contribute to the cost of the meat? I'll be glad to pitch in....and Salmon Cakes! A yummy thing. Jo
Jo, we will probably have a collection on the day to defray the cost of the meats.
Kathleen
Kathleen,
Who is getting the meat?
Donna
Thanks, Kathleen...Jo
Donna,
Janice (frogsrus) and Don are taking care of the meat -- burgers and fancy sausages.
i've been lurking and checking the menu DAILY. i feel so silly =).
I was wondering if I needed to chip in some $$ to help pay for the meat or paper plates, etc?
Please let me know how I can help and who is handeling the money donations
Thanks
Dovey
Kathleen,
I will be bringing some salads. A Top Ramen slaw and broccoli salad.
Do we know who will take care of all the fixing's for the hamburgers and sausages? How about the paper products? You might want to give this idea to someone who is coming a long way, or who doesn't cook.
Also, you might want to start asking the people who are coming ,that haven't posted yet, what they want to bring. I think it would be easier for some people to know what still needs to be brought.
Donna
ME ME ME...Let me bring something I don't
Good idea, Donna! I will check with Janice and post back.
Dovey, you have mail. I understand the collection for the meats will be taken care of at the round-up.
Cheers,
Kathleen
Roadrunner will be inspecting any chocolate on the premises."
Just read that and I think she's gonna need some help with that. . .I'm volunteering to assist. We could be called the Royal Pains, uhmmmm I mean the Royal Tasters. Would be a shame for anyone to fall ill from untasted chocolate products. . . .
The anticipation is killing me..... 8-) Janet
Janet...a second opinion is always welcome!! What we won't do for our DG friends, eh? LOL Jo
P.S I have been dieting this month so that I will be ready! Nothing meaner....ummmm...I mean LEANER than a chocolate fiend that has been deprived of the stuff for about a month!
I've edited the top message to make it clearer and add info.
roadrunner. . .You go girl. . .I'm on a perpetual diet it seems. Heading for the coast so will check in next week to see all the latest developments.
8-)) Janet
Er, ugh, um......Guess I had best think about a side dish. Will be back later.
Me too!
Wow!
been trying to post here, but I guess my membership failed to renew....
it's fixed now!
I will bring a large pot of my fathers Potato Salad.....
and see what other goodies I can think of........
Sounds like I'll be leaving a little heavier then when I get there : )
A roundup is not a place to diet Lol.
To offset the preponderance of carbohydrates, Pam has volunteered to make a large grilled shrimp caesar salad and I'll be making a parsley, basil, walnut, gorgonzola salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. So we are now providing Ice, cocktail mixers, a couple of salads, a couple of cases of bottled water and a ranch full of dogs and horsies...lol.
kaperc, please adjust our contributions as needed thank you. We will also provide our fruit trees for fresh peaches and plums.
best,
Don
What great hosts! PLUS...fresh peaches??? I may stay...Like the "Squattleys" of the old comic strip Buz Sawyer.
(*grin*....boy...that one really told my age!)
LOL Jo
hmmm, roadrunner squattley? Now there's a name for radio....
tain't funny McGhee....
We just thought that a little edible chlorophyll might round out the menu a bit...Oh yeah, and not to forget the fifth food group....Chocolate.
And all this time I though Chocolate was a Veggie!! I also love shrimp! Jo
Don,
Just so you know, Jo loves her chocolate and she now says she like shrimp too....just don't bring out any RICE of any kind. This lady does not like rice of any kind and she will let you know about it too. lol
I had a salad last night at a restaurant that was similar to yours above. It had lettuce, grilled chicken, gorgonzola, walnuts with a very yummy Balsamic vinaigrette. It was wonderful.
Peaches and plums are my favorite summer fruits. I sure wish I had the room to have fruit trees. I can't even fit in a dwarf fruit tree. lol
Donna
Thanks, Donna...I hate to be rude.....but rice? No way....not even covered in Chocolate.......well....maybe!! LOL Jo
OK, I will bring CHOCOLATE!!!!!! SCHARFENBERGER****** It's a Northern Cal thing out of Bezerkeley, lol!!!
How many plates? Napkins? soft drinks? cutlery? Hello out there!!!!
We'll be spending Friday night in San Diego and can get dry goods, I keep asking, who's listening, lol. Who said they wanted to camp prior???
Annie
It's a Northern Cal thing out of Bezerkeley
LOL.
Re: # of plates, etc. -- why not wait until the week before, Annie, then we'll count up who's coming. No need to waste $$ on excess. I'll put you on the list.
Cheers,
Kathleen
Isn't Hanna nice...who would ever have thought of CHOCOLATE?? hehhehheh Jo
There is no life without CHOCOLATE, is there????
Once in a while, since I'm from Brussels, Belgium, I get gifts, CHOLOCATES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cotes D'or, the best in the world, I must apologize but I ate up the last of about 4 lbs about 1 week ago, LOL LOL LOL, and dang it was sooooo good, and I hated having to share some with DH, He loves great CHOCOLATE as well
Annie
Maybe we should call this the 1st Annual So. CA DG Chocolate Round-up -- oops, guess we should make it the 1st Annual So. CA DG Chocolate/Plant Round-up -- Plant/Chocolate Round-up? -- ChocoPlant Roundup? :-)
How about " 1 st DG''s Plant & Chocolate Groups of So. Calif "
