We are going to be in south Lake Tahoe in the middle of June. What weather should we expect/dress for?
weather S.Lake Tahoe?
How fun!! I live outside of Sacramento, and the weather is usually (about) the same, maybe a little cooler. But we've had such wacky weather lately, its hard to tell, so dont quote me! I think it should be pretty warm during the day - warm enough for shorts, but definately cools off in the evening. Bring things to layer. I'll ask DH when he gets home from work for his opinion and get back to you with more info. What will you be doing there?
I would definitely bring a jacket for after sunset- we go about every other year in June- the weather is usually beautiful during the day but gets chilly as soon as the sun goes down. Here is a shot from the north side above Incline Village- we took the scenic route home last year. :)
Have a great trip!

Our son is getting married there! We live in Vancouver, Washington and the brides family in the Seattle area and our son lives in Bend, Oregon. Our daughter got married 3 years ago in Hawaii and we got these fantastic $deals for 1 week. $1200 for 2 round trip and room for 6 nights. We all had such fun and thoroughly enjoyed not having the stress of a traditional wedding and reception. Altho, we did host an Hawaiian themed reception/party that summer but it was soooo relaxed. The family goes to the wedding and honeymoon!! And as it turned out that church was 1 block from our hotel. So my soon to be dear daughter in law lost her father 1 1/2 years ago to cancer. They were very close and she didn't want to have the tradtional one either because not having her father to walk her breaks her heart. So we (both families) are renting condo's, 1 week, each sleeps 10. St Therese church Friday night 17th, but we are not sure what we are doing for a "reception" afterwards. We think there will be about 40 people counting family and friends. My dh and I are renting a car, and driving down and bringing lots of food and wine and beer. I am accepting any and all advice. thanks. Mary
Wow, Mary, this sounds like a nice way to do a wedding after going through two daughters in a year. It was so much work. Just enjoy. Relax and that area is so pretty.
I live about 45 min away. The above dress advice is right on, shorts in the day (probably), sweater in the evening (definitely). The wind kicks up in the evenings here making it seem even cooler. You might be able to swim by then (Tahoe is very deep and very cold) but probably not, bring a suit just in case, or if your the "Polar Bear club" type bring one for sure.
The most low key (and cheapest) reception would be to have it at one of the public beaches. There are several nice ones, Nevada, Emerald and Sand Harbor being the biggest. Just depends on what you like in a beach. Mid June you should probably have at least a 90 % chance of beach weather for the reception.
This is an extremely beautiful area, hope you have a great time!
Melissa

Hi, Mary, The wedding plans sound lovely--I think Lake Tahoe is a perfect place to celebrate a marriage...
We have been going to Lake Tahoe since our honeymoon there in 1973 when my husband was on leave from his ship in San Francisco. Since then we have been to several wedding, there, too. So many nice Lodges and restaurants... You didn't say whether you will be on the Nevada side, South Lake Tahoe, or North Lake Tahoe--it's a big place with lots a good choices ...
Two receptions that I recall were:
A 'clam bake' on a beach, catered by a local guy. Very fun...I do not know the name, but you might find a source thru the chamber of commerce...if the reception will be in the evening, it might be too cool for this, though.
Also another very nice reception that captured the 'Tahoe moment' was at Sunnyside Lodge, a (sort of) casual lodge/restaurant out on the deck over looking the lake... http://www.sunnysideresort.com/gallery_ss.html We didn't stay at the Lodge but the wedding reception was nice...
These two were in South Lake Tahoe CA area. I don't know much about the 'Nevada side' and I suppose north Lake Tahoe has some very nice places, too, (casinos?) that others might know about...
My DH was in law practice in South Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and LA so we went up there a lot in past years...though not in the past 2 years since we moved to Cincinnati...
Enjoy your trip. And we wish you clear skies and beautiful weather for the bride and groom. Congratulations! t.
thank you t, we will be in Calif. thank you kindly for the links.
