Is anyone here attending Le Jardin Botanique de Montreal?
Gorgeous photos, zarcanat! Thank you so much for posting. My, it looks like Christmas morning a a Gardeners' home, doesn't it? LOL Your favorite photo of the tulips could win a prize, honestly. I loved those wooden herons. I have a metal one beside my pond, but if I could have found a wooden one like those ones, I would have snapped it up. :Donna
well I just got back from Montreal. I went early this morning and drove right to the Gardens. I was afraid I would need my car close by. lol I was right. My pics are similar so I will get some nice ones tomorrow. It is a lovely event I just wish I spoke french.
Shannon I will be there at 9 sharp. By the time you get there a coffee will be much needed.
Zarcanat, what and where did you find your treasurers? My hummers are here and I like to encourage them to stay. Do you have a trick to tame them. Mind are very aggressive and won't wait for me to fill the feeder, they sit on my hand like they are telling me to hurry up.
Well tomorow is another day at the garden. I love life. :)
LOL...I love your attitude Hau!
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh thank you Zarcanat (and a Montrealer to boot;) for the wonderful pics! Ü I love the set up there......the tents are very unique! The tropicals caught my eye immediately.......btw did you see any Hoyas there? Or Plumerias???
Which ones did you drool over?
Looking very forward to seeing everyone's pics! Ü

Under the big tent, at one of its entrances, I found B.G. Plants, they have 3-4 species of Cuphea which are royal treat to the eyes and to hummers, if you had to buy only one , I guaranty you success with Cuphea ignea http://www.bgplants.com/FR_2005.pdf
It is funny though that it is the only one in the catalogue that is not identified as well.
Still under that tent if I remember well, you could find treasures at Flora Exotica (I reserved mines by e-mail and just had to get them today) http://www.floraexotica.ca/ And the other one, I do not remember nor the name, nor the location, it is under a small tent along the way, selling annuals. It is very unfortunate because I found there the most wonderfull plant that I could hope a Cape Fuchsia with golden foliage and bright red flowers (only 6$ and it is supposed to reach 3 feet large...) http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=673893

Oh yes Hoyas and plummerias, at Flora Exotica [HYPERLINK@www.floraexotica.ca] and at some crassula producer under the same tent.

OOps, the Cape Fuchsia was advertised as : Devil's Tears but should be in fact due to color foliage : Sunshine

That Cape Fushia/Devil's Tears sounds yummy! I'd have been panting after that one too. Thanks for the link to BG Plants and the tip about Cuphea ignea. It is now on my shopping list. :)
I just noticed this link: http://www2.ville.montreal.qc.ca/jardin/en/propos/rendez_vous_2005/producteurs.pdf
I would have loved to have seen (or purchase;) some the aquatic plants they will be showing there!
Actually I would have loved to have seen it all! ;)
Do you want me to go back to get more pictures? LOLOL
LOL...............I have a feeling many, many pics could be taken there! ;)
And I was ashamed not to take the ones other people would have liked to see!
You did a wonderful job Zarcanat.......we just can't get enough! ;) Please keep in mind this is the prairies where, until last year, I had never even seen a Clerodendrum ugandense or Thomsonii (sp?) in any greenhouse or....or....or! ;)
What an amazing set up......so many peeps live there and yet there is room to breathe! Is that you in the green hoodie?
No, I was alone and behind the camera, its more mysterious like this...
About Clerodendrum ugandense, I've just check on the internet to see wat it was like. Flora Exotica had it too for sale. It was flowering; I must say that it was pretty difficult for me to resist to that one.
It's one I had to purchase last year.....it over wintered pretty well here (considering it was inside for 9 loooooooong months). This is how it bloomed last year for me http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/449846/ ......the picture doesn't show it but the plant was a bush and the branches were about 4 feet long. It truly is one I wouldn't think twice about purchasing.....it's a beauty! Ü

I am sad, but we will have to drill holes in the walls to get more windows if I continue to buy so many plants...
Good night everyone
I have the Clerodendrum Ugandense, too, Just got a couple plants from Liz from Brugmansiaetc, in Vancouver, this past April. I just love them My two plants have nearly tripled their size in 2 months. Gorgeous display of blossoms. Definitely at favorite of mine and one that I would recommend.
Sorry Zarcanat I had to give up the puter to my DD. Re window space you can commiserate with PanamonCreel, he too is eyeing a cement drill. Truth be told tho many of us low zoners are having to get very inventive to keep our green stuff happy. ;)
If peeps, visiting Le Jardin Botanique, happen to see a fellow with dark hair, wearing a ball cap, maybe shades, and a Dave's Garden T-Shirt (& whose prolly eyeing plants related to the Asclepiadaceae family)......please take a pic of him too! ;)
Hi everyone,
Well I just left a message on Hau's cell phone - I'm still in Ottawa. When I went to pick up Scruffy (one of our 3 cats) from the vet yesterday they said they wanted to keep him overnight for observation. I just picked him up this morning; the stress must have gotten to him because he has just thrown up all over the house (sorry, if anyone's reading this over breakfast! :-) and is now hiding under the bed. I'm supposed to be making sure he eats even if it's with a syringe. I'm not going anywhere today unfortunately.
But - great, great pics zarcanat! Thank you very much!
There's no way to post more than one pic at a time unfortunately; this question has come up a few times. It does slow things down from our end.
Sigh......
Shannon
So sorry to hear about Scruffy, Shannon. I sure hope he is feeling better soon. Good luck with his feeding. Poor baby. (((Scruffy)))
I am sticking close to home this weekend too. The weather here has been hot! Yesterday 30 C. todays forecast is for 31C. Keeps me hoppin' just keeping my menagerie watered when it is this warm. Supposed to continue all this coming week.. Gotta love it!
Have a good weekend Shannon, and Happy Gardening when you get the time. :Donna
Thanks, Donna! I went into the guest bedroom with a little bit of tinned food on a saucer; he turned around under the bed so he was facing the food, but didn't come near it. I even blew across the saucer in his direction so he would be sure to get the aroma.
Your weather sounds just great, in spite of the watering challenges. Could you send some of that extra heat our way please? :-) The sun is shining at the moment, but we only seem to get a few minutes at a time, and then three or four days of rain before the next sunny bit. The flowers are all just biding their time, waiting.
Hope you have a good weekend,
Shannon
Anyways, I ran around with my Davesgarden T-Shirt as advertisement, let's see if we'll get some more members now :)
Lovely pictures, Milan. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Weather looks great too, not scorching like it is here. Our thermometer outside is reading 32C at the moment. Finally had to turn on the ole air conditioner. Hate to do that in May, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Hate to be a dunderhead, but what's this toiletbowl all about? :~/
Milan they look wunderbar.......thank you so very much!! The toiletbowl does indeed have a presence there! ;)
I love the pond and the water feature! Ü
So what exciting green stuff did you bring home with you????????
p.s. LOLOL......... good thing not too much tickled your fancy! ;D
I'm guessing it's the Big "O" in the background...the Olympic stadium. ?
Is that what Milan calls the toilet bowl????
Not sure - just speculating. The stadium is notorious for being over budget and not working properly - I think the city is still paying for it, and it's been almost 30 years, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the butt of some jokes. But I must defer to the Montrealers....Hey Milan, let us in on it! :-)
Edited to say....pun not intended...."butt" ;-)

It's the Olympic Stadium........but I'll let Milan explain why he calls it that.
Good morning everyone. Well what a great week end. The sun has been with me all week end. When I was in Montreal it rained at home. When I was at home it rained in montreal. lol
Next year, those of us going to the GG week end will have to get t-shirts and all meet.
Lilypon please forgive me. I took pic of wrong booth. This is Tropical Expressions not Flora Expressions ooopppps
