Banana Split Today

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Gosh Donna, she's almost Gold on my screen. Gorgeous color.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Oh my gosh, Donna! It doesn't even resemble mine! It certainly doesn't resemble Saltwater Taffy (ST) either... I am totally baffled by this.........I'm so sorry that you wasted garden space on her. This is very weird... Wonder what the others will look like???

I love BOTH colors....they both look great!!!! huh?

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thanks, Julie! You're too kind! I just feel for Donna because she wanted a yellow one, and its sure growing orange for her!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Space not wasted Gretchen. She is beautiful and the bloom is huge. She will stay right where she is. It doesn't mess up my color varieations either. I try to plant different colors next to each other. I forgot to smell her. Will remember to when next bloom opens. I love deep dark colors and am dying to get Shirleys Punkin(dark orange) too when she releases it.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, we're all waiting for Shirley's Punkin. LOL It's a beauty.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

here's to hoping Gretchen. Bloom #2 just opened. Temps still in upper's 70's had bad T-storm late last night too.

Larry I will gladly give you a piece when Gretchen says it is o.k. and releases it. I am trailing it for her.

Foley, AL

well I will give her my right.... =) I will just have to dig the hole first..

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Larry if you see my pics compared to hers....... that is why they are sent out to different parts of the states for trails. We are in the same zones and pretty much have the same temps but I am willing to bet I have a great deal more humidity than she does living along the coast, also ph and amount of sunlight could possibly be a factor in it too. She has turn gold again this morning. Will take a pic this evening. Temps back up to the 80's and like a sauna out there right now.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, I bet those temps are terrible with that cast on. Poor you.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Ada it is a brace but only take it off to shower and go to bed. It is made out of stuff like a hard white cutting board. My mid section stays damp even inside in the a/c. Being outside is pretty bad lol

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Donna, one is probably as bad as the other. LOL At least you can take the brace off for showering and sleeping. That helps.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Donna, our daughter wore a Milwaukee brace for scleosis, sp, curvature of the spine. She was young but it was tough, but worth it. She is actually my first cousin, her mother died unexpectedly, when she was 10, and my hubby and I adopted her, we also have two boys, all adults now, lol, the oldest two, including Lisa, are middle aged now, both 41, whew. We learned about her condition right after her mother died. I cried for three days, then gathered myself up and marched to war, to try to get her well and we were blessed, AND, to top it all off, none of her three children have it. I surely hope you don't have to wear your brace long, Lisa could only take hers off 1 hour per day and had to sleep in it too, plus do exercises. And, Donna, I hope you are healed swiftly and completely!!!!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Ya know - I'm not the biggest fan of yellow. But THAT yellow is something else!

Foley, AL

Donna I think I understand that better.... I have planted ludgers seeds and nothing yet.... is it tacky to name one after the person that gave it to you?

ely

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

no Larry it is not tacky. If it is an especially nice brug most people would be honored. There are lots of them out there. Becca Lynn and Jessie Noel for Gloria's granddaughters, Monika, Forever Morr(Shirley Morr), Amber Rose, Tatiana etc......

Foley, AL

well how do you know if it is a great one? I would think my first would all be great...

ely

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

well here is day 2 of bloom #2. It is just bound and determined to be gold for me instead of banana yellow. Temps in mid 80's humidity very high

I just love both colors of it. It is lovely. So cheerful. Hard not to smile when I see it.

And Donna, your leaves are so green, so is your grass. See here we get no rain till November and no humidity. So we do not have lush green anywhere. In fact everything browns out in summer and greens up in winter. Jus topposit eof mos to yo!

Sherry, we need to see some pictures of your pepto garden. LOL

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Thanks, I thought you'd never ask, Kell, lol!! I ONLY have one brug blooming - Rosamond by the cement pond, she's a bubbler girl, this is her first flush, tho her first 6 buds and her second 8 buds and 6 buds from this flush were blown to kingdom come...the kool deck on my pool is pink and I have a Tiger Lily walk way, which helps a smidgen...

oh how awful Sherry for a child to have to go through

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Donna!! It was somewhat lessened because we had a cousin, in my hubby's family, same age as Lisa, lived near us, whose was so bad that she had to have surgery and a rod put in her spine, AFTER wearing the Milwaukee brace for 4 years - you know how that goes, we always think things are tough, until we see what the other guy has to go through. Now days the Milwaukee brace is so tiny that you cannot even tell it's being worn. Lisa looked like she was wearing a plaster of Paris dressmakers form and that we had decided to stretch her neck, whew!! Hers had metal rings and straps but, toward the end she got velcro and we called it her designer brace...

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Well Donna, when I saw that first image, I thought it was gonna be yellow... Oh well, thank you for being such a good sport about it. Am really curious now as to what the others will look like??? At this rate, we won't be releasing this one... We'll see what she does later in the season. Yours is so pretty, if only she was yellow!

Sherry, my baby sister wore the scoliosis brace for five years, then had two Harrington rods attached to her spine when she was 13. She was so crooked that her spine was putting pressure on her heart and putting her in a life threatening situation. I think everyone in my family has scoliosis to some degree, but none as severe as hers was. She's 34 now and the mother of two boys. Your Rosamond is gorgeous!

Ely, that's my brother's name...Are you interested in the yellow color or the orange. I'd like to suggest Brugmansia 'Jean Pasko'. Its a beautiful yelllow-gold brug with an orange rim. Has a unique shape and huge blooms and leaves. Its one of my absolute favorites. Just a thought :)

larry.

Obviously, this cutting is not blooming and might not be pink, but she is the most beautiful brug I've ever grown, and she is so easy, I truly love her. She was small and healthy when she arrived April 6. She never missed a beat and is a little over three feet tall and four and one half feet wide, with a nice fat, fuzzy trunk with pups popping up beneath her. I LOVE her huge, blue toned, nicely serrated leaves and if that's not enough, she likes sun and is not a bug magnet!!! The only spot she has on a leaf is hail damage and one small stick fell on her, drats. I'm growing her for a friend, to see how she likes southeast Arky. I have quite a lot of guests, friends, neighbors, family, and they have watched my progression with brugs, and they say this one is the best, by far, they've seen in my garden - we all think she is special, as is the dear friend who sent her to me!!!

Well It's ON!!! She is taking her easy time, making me crazy. I'm so anxious to see what she'll look like.

On it's 2nd year for me. A seedling from JT Sessions cross -- Inisgnis Gold X Ember Glow, same as Gretchen and the one DonnaB is trailing for Gretchen.....

The suspense is killing me! She is full of buds

Oh, my goodness, Julie, she is beautiful and so healthy I cannot stand it and I cannot wait for her to bloom for you!!!!! Did she winter in the ground?? If she did, I'm not doing something correctly, whew!! I know one thing for certain - next winter, I'll pot up some bubbler rootings in at least Feb and have them on their way before I put them outside after Easter...

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Way to go Julie...please keep posting...the suspense is getting great!!!

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL you're telling me Margie! It's killing me too lol...Thanks so much

Thank you Sherry...No I had her down in the the earth inside a pot so I just lifted her up last year and brought her inside my heated porch. She overwintered well. We've had so much rain, it's got buds all over her, she is lovin' it :-)
