Banana Split Today

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Here is my seedling 'Banana Split'. This is her second year, and her blooms are consistant with those of last year. Her color at 7:00 am was 255,242,77. She is being trialed by several other people, and I hope she does as well for them.

That is a very pretty yellow, I like it alot. I would love to have it in my yard. When you decide to release it let me know I want one. Great name!!

Thanks, Connie. I'll keep you in mind. But, I have a terrible memory and quite a few people have indicated a desire for this one, so remind me, okay :)

Thanks, Linda!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Gretchen, this is the first time I've seen this brug. I really love the color, I hope it does well for you and everyone else!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gretchen, I've already got a good trade in mind. LOL! Will talk to you later this summer about it.

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

Gretchen, that is wonderful, I love the unusual color as well as the frilly shape, a real eye-catcher, I've never seen another like her, WOW!! I really like seeing what does well in your area because I believe the same would work in mine. I will say this about my area - it's an excellent place to trial a brug because we have such extreme weather conditions. Hint, hint, to all of you, lol!!

Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. that is so gorgeous. Wowzer.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

What a happy, happy brug!...good luck, Gretchen, to you and your trialers!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Thank you all! I wish I could take an image that would capture the true look of this brug. She is a pure "banana" yellow with a white throat. Here's a shot of the whole plant taken a few minutes ago (lopsided and bug-eaten as she is). Its really hot here again today (90's) so she's pretty droopy:

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

That one is very pretty! I like the pastel yellow, not really a screaming lemon yellow like some others. I like the bright yellows too, but this one is very pretty.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully I can get the tree back to a pretty shape. The deer tore off one side of her early in the season... We'll see what beomes of her. She was really pretty last year!

That is so very pretty! I'd like to know how to get ahold of one of those color charts.

Gretchen & Donna

Both of your Brugs are just wonderful!!!

Judy

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Gretchen & Donna - you both are blessed with two beautiful Brugs! Way to go, ladies!!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Oh My! Your plant look awesome, Donna...but, I'm so surprised by the color! Just goes to show the difference environmental culture can make. I'm so sorry :(

She's still blooming banana yellow for me!!!

If she was mixed up with ST, that would be a double shocker, 'cause that one bloomed pink with a yellow rim for me. Guess only time will tell.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

That's what I was thinking too Gretchen. Both are pretty though. Now I can't wait to see what mine does! The anticipation is killin' me!

Hugs
Julie

Oh, Gretchen, what is the ST?

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

I'm confused (big surprise), are these two brugs the same brug, and the difference in where they were grown made the difference in color?? They are both grand prize winners, wow!!! In my area, spring 2005 is SOOO different from spring 2004. I have a hibiscus, blooming now, for the 4th growing season - the past three years, it bloomed pale apricot, it's a double. It has been blooming the past week and it's DEEP, RICH, ORANGE - no pale - no apricot. Only difference is that I'm using my 15-5-15 on all my plants, is it possible that fert could make the color change? FWIW, our hydrangeas are true, beautiful pink this season, in the past they were blue, but I didn't use the brug fert on them, too lazy, they are in a different garden...maybe they think Kell is coming for a visit, lol!!!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Yes it is beautiful Gretchen but I really wanted that beautiful Yellow LOL. DH swears he planted one at a time so was no way to mix up tags. Hmmmmmm Well I love the orange too. Maybe because it was cloudy, rainy and cool after being in the 90's?? Has some more bloom pods on it so we will soon see. Saltwater Taffy doesn't yet.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Took another pic today. Poor thing was pretty tattered after 3 days of rain. Brought bloom inside to get color numbers. So my numbers are 255,153,0 to 240,151,47 inside under bright light on 3rd day of bloom. Color more towards the first set of numbers. Temps low to mid 70's, rainy, and gloomy
