Zingy,
I know that you can buy the larve or something like that over the internet, but some stores sell them as well. Here I can buy them at NW Seed & Pet - a local nursery/pet store/organic gardening store. My neighbor says they run loose in the Costco here (she works there) and said she'd bring some home but she never has.
WEEKEND CONTEST
Ok, Here goes....this is my rooted Maya cutting...Ok, you can laugh. The top has twisted in two parts, dried out, but the bottom is semi woody and had a tiny spurt of green growth that my son picked off near the bottom yesterday. (Just figures, doesn't it?) It isn't hollow or mushy, so it is still alive, yes?
Special note, my kitty has been using the dried out part as a chin scratcher, this is true. You may even be able to see her fur clinging to the "branches."
I've been refraining from crying, and I cling to the hope that she will turn around.
CC, do you have room in your ICU?
Sorry for the poor picture quality, I can't figure out closeups on this camera....
The roots are pretty good sized on this tiny thing, and they look good, so I can't toss her yet. LOL
Thought you'd all like a good chuckle!
OK, it is over. LOL. This was such fun. Voting will be on its own thread to alert people to come and look and vote!!
THANKS for participating. It is fun when we all come togeether for a good time.
Linda, you are the only person I know that's had an egg sac hatch. Three friends have them, we all got them at different places and none have hatched. Is there a secret??
I received mine as a Birthday gift. The giver was told to keep them cool to delay hatching. They were in a paper box with a lid. I guess it got too warm in the car, because when we got home and I looked inside, they were everywhere. I found the largest clear glass vase that I could find and dumped them in and put a cloth with rubber band on top. Just so happened that I had a brug with aphids, so I put that in for them to eat, and shortly thereafter I released them in the yard.
You can't tell by looking at the sac whether it has hatched or not. They come out of a tiny slit. I received 2 sacs and could not tell if they were out of 1 or both, so I put both sacs out with the babies
