Am I Being Ignored?

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL!!!
I have started several threads the last few days [asking questions] and so far have gotten no answers. I have NEVER had this many threads w/o one single response.
Am I being black-listed or has Dave sent out a "don't answer berrygirl" email?

I guess no one wants to play with me any more....... :(

Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

Heehees.. They are probably all overwhelmed with weed pulling like me. :)

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Vash,
ROFLMBBO !!!!
I am up to my eyeballs weeding too- that's no excuse- LOL!! I have an ENTIRE bed that I have just finally gave up on. The red sorrel has taken it over. We have done everything to get rid of it but I just threw up my hands and said NO MORE!! What kinds of weeds are you dealing with?

I guess this time of year Daves slows down a bit since we're all outside gardening instead of sitting in front of a computer.
I have a bad back, so ever so often I have to come in and "spell" my back. Thank God for Daves!!

Wichita, KS(Zone 6b)

I am a great believer in 'Work 15 minutes then rest 30'. I've laid 30 bags of cypress mulch to help contain the weeds. I just gave my tomatoes their final weeding and mulched with straw. Now if I could just get the weeds to waltz outa the beans it'd be great. I can't see mulching bush beans since they finish off so fast.

Oh yeah.. It seems like most of the weeds are lamb's quarters and crabgrass. I guess the beans are more important to me than letting the lamb's quarters get big enough to eat. Crabgrass is vile and wicked. :)

berrtgirls, that is the way random events occur. They clump up.. Some of my posts get all sorts of responses and then another post that I think will be interesting gets no responses at all. Frustrating but that is the way it is.

I read some posts but have no knowledge to add so I just go on. Occasionally I do have input and spit it out, occasionally I am even correct.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I was going to go post SOME answer on every one of your posts but when I click on your name it shows that all your posts have replies. LOL Now I have to ask, were they answered before or after you posted this? LOL I know I for one, have been running around the yard like a crazy woman trying to get everything planted, cleaned up, weeded.... This weather has been so crazy!! I try to get what I can done on the days it is actually warm and sunny enough.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

berrygirl, I think that sometimes too. Sometimes it seems I can stop a thread in its tracks with a response. Am I being too sensitive?
Brenda

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Brenda! That is what I call being a thread killer. I have apologized for that a *few* times. :)

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

I'm sorry - didn't mean to...blushing, backing away...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

LOL Hardly necessary, plantnutz.

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

I'll chime in too.... so that plantnutz doesn't fear she's caused another thread to be killed -

as for responses.... I'll have to side with Vashur on this one...... between weeding, digging, planting and keeping the grass mowed.... Dave's has taken a back seat on time allocation.......

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

George,
You are too modest! You are more than occasionally correct.

Bad,
The replies to my posts were after I came on DG and acted all pitiful- LOL!! I had posted about 4 Q on separate threads that went unanswered for several days. I was gettin kinda lonely!! Oh I do know it's b/c most of us are in full swing now with gardens, etc..

plantnutz,
LOL!! I hear ya!!

vs,
You are absolutely correct. Folks are just too darn busy to answer my little ole Q's! LOL!!

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

I'm almost in the same situation, in addition to pulling weeds, I'm laying down patio bricks, and that's no easy task. Whew! LOL

DougC

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

This happens to me sometimes too Berry Girl. Sometimes I end up posting the question in a different forum - even though it doesn't belong there - and end up getting an answer. (like propagation vs. tropical).

What is really said is when you haven't got an answer and your post get's buried even to the next page - you hate to be obnoxious and bump it, but you feel like noone is going to see your unanswered question on the 2nd page.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

berrygirl,
in the great debate of # of views, i'll add my comment, lol.
I'm reading that you were concerned because after a few days you had no replies to your ?'s. Would it have made you feel better if you could see that 10, 20, 30 people had viewed it and didnt respond?
I got the same "ignored" feelings when i could see that people were viewing it, and not replying.
Just depends on how you look at it, lol

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Msjen,
I don't think it would have made a difference if I could see the views.
BTW, any word on if that is going to be restored?

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

I thought I was the only thread killer here. I have had the same experience, but I chalk it up as being a topic that I am only interested in!! But if it is important to you, that's all that matters. I took the day off, after a busy last week and couple of days this week. My best friend and I went to lunch and then on to a casino for the afternoon. Didn't win anything, but had a good time. So early tommorow am, back to the grind!!

Valinda, CA(Zone 10a)

It does amaze me how some threads take on a life and never end while others never get started.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Berrygirl,
Some of your latest posts such as the lily, datura, mutating have been read by me, only not answering them on account of busying composing my DG joural. I find your threads are of high-quality, and some questions are very specilized. I like reading yours.
Jianhua

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Jianhua,
Gosh, golly gee you're makin' me blush! LOL
Thanks for the very kind words.

BTW, I became acquainted with several of your countrymen last year when they interned where I work. It was so interesting learning more about your people and culture. It is hard to believe that we are in almost the same climate zone.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Berrygirl,

I have posted on a couple occasions and didn't receive any replies. I wasn't sure what the deal was. Those specific postings were made in forums that I don't hang out in regularly. I thought at first it was because the people who do hang out there didn't know me.

In the end, one item about a weevel was responded to with a "sorry, I don't know" but was told it was a weevil so I googled it and found the answer. I found this was because this specific weevil wasn't native to this country, so no one knew. Do we have any members from Sri Lanka?

The other question, I ultimately asked an individual member and she was right there with detailed instructions for me.

I also will look at questions asked and MANY times I have no idea, particularly for things that don't grow in my zone. That would be a gazillion different plant questions.

Molly
:^))))

Royston, GA(Zone 7b)

lol don't feel bad berry girl, I try to respond to any one that may respond in my threads, so they don't feel ignored. I have very little time ot really post myself due to the projects that are going around in my neck of the woods. Don't take it personally =)

(Zone 7a)

Berrygirl, all of the above sounds familiar to me, too. There have been times when it happened that my post would be the last post for that thread, and, like defoecat, I would worry about being a "threadkiller".

But, I think it's more likely that perhaps there was nothing more to say, or that others couldn't think of anything further to contribute. I often set an arbitrary time limit to be on DG, myself, due to other things I'm trying to get done, so I'm probably guilty of not following up all of my posts, too.

You've started quite an interesting thread here. Sometimes, there's no telling what will take off.

One thing I do that you might consider, is to email an individual directly whom you think might have an answer to some question and who seems knowledgeable in the matter. Everyone has always been very helpful.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks you guys!
I mostly posted in jest and "acting all pitiful" as my Granny would say. The little pity party seemed to have worked- LOL!! Yeah, I often feel like a thread killer too. Message boards are a funny place to be sometimes, huh?

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

I take these things personally too, sometimes, but I know in my heart that it's not me. Or is it? hee hee Maybe.... no.... well?????

Most of the time I think "no one cares" is when I post a photo in the photo forum. If I don't get a response in a day or so, I think, gracious, my picture must have really stunk. :) Which isn't really true, I don't think. On the other hand... Have you ever second guessed yourself? I don't do that....at least I don't think I do. :)

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

Berrygirl,

Never fear I am the "Thread Stopper Queen" here and sometimes that's what I'm intending to do. lol lol lol

Back to the repotting........

Judy

Springboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL, Judy :)

I just decided to ignore the email that Dave sent out concerning you, Berrygirl. I decided right then and there that I would reply to your next post no matter what he warned us about concerning you, and here I am!!! LOL ;)

Hugs to you :) I've noticed the thread-traffic has been much slower since the growing season kicked in. Seems like my watched threads take forever to get new posts, too :)

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Hi all!!
Yeah things have seemed a bit slow huh? That is a sure sign that things are green and blooming outside.
My back is absolutely killing me the last few days. I have overdone it I'm afraid. I cannot wait til I get health insurance again so I can go to the chiro!

smilin, I will try my best to respond to your pics- which are always awesome!

Judy, there are a few threads I have seen that you really need to go on and stop in their tracks- LOL!!

Huga, thanks so much for being brave and ignoring Dave's order for my sake!

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Awwww, shucks.... thanks. That's just what I needed to hear.

Judy, your magic didn't work here.... What's up?

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I know the feeling too Berrygirl....many of my threads get little to no traffic. Sometimes it bothers me, but most times not.
Got one going right now in the Iris forum, that has yet to get any responces. Oh well :-)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I think I like it better now that the 'viewed' does not show. I think it is worse to know 27 people looked and didn't post than to just see it sort of slink away and die a quick death! LOL

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

I guess....at least when I knew how many people looked at it I felt better knowing it wasn;t being ignored. I always figured if they looked and didn;t reply it was simply they didn't know the answer to my question or had nothing new to add. :-)

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

LOL. would someone please go answer my question about morning glorys on the vine forum.

Seattle, WA(Zone 8b)

Not unless you go answer one of my questions on either the IRIS or the TREE/SHRUB forums. LOL

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL! I'm getting a huge kick out of this thread, because it wasn't too long ago that I told my husband about two or three threads that come to a screeching halt after I posted somthing on them. lol I knew I was just being too sensitive, but it helps me to know that I'm not the only one one who has felt this way.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I feel EXACTLY the same way. I either start threads that nobody answers, or bring the thread to a screeching halt, or worse yet, say something on a thread and then it gets totally ignored while everyone else talks to each other. My nature is to take it personally, and a couple of times I was on the verge of e-mailing people to ask if they were ignoring me....lol.......but logically, there are so many other reasons that this happens. I'm so glad this thread got started so we could see how many other people have had the same thing happen! Thanks, berrygirl! :-)

Shannon

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Well, well, birds of the feather gather together.
Berrygirl, are you feeling some relieved and comfortable now?

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

I just thought of something....

When this thread is over, and there's no more to add, how is the last person who posted here going to feel? lol

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Some times ago I started a few VIP's (very important posts), which at least I thought to myself they should be, but there were very few follow-ups. I puzzled if anyone got tired with my silly threads or ... Now after reading the above posts, my heart has balanced. The things were not what I had thought.
This is really a good thread for us to speak out our minds.

I agree. I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one.
