Hi and WELCOME (and/or Welcome BACK!)
Here's my usual message...
"Our door is *always* open to anyone who cares to drop in and sit a spell, If you have any special goodies to share, just put 'em on the counter with the rest of our absolutely, positively, NO-cal supply! We'd Love to taste them! :-)"
Here's the link to our last session:

It's busy, busy, busy time for all of us. We'll understand if you don't show up regularly. Sure hope you understand when I can't. :-D
~julie~
Coffee and...Part 16! :-D
Julie, LOVE your froggie!
(And, please do not start a separate photo thread, things lose continuity that way.)
I second that motion....I'd rather see thread 197 than 2.....I confuse too easily.
No seat beat of Mr. Frogmorton P. Gildersleeve?
Hap
LOL...Okay on the so seperate thread..
And Hap...you don't know how close I came to putting a seatbelt ON him for the picture. ~grin~ He's really a BIG one. (Oh and from the side, he really looks my DH. giggle...don't tell him I said that, but it's *true* hehehe)
When I decide exactly where I'm going to put him and figure out what plants will suit him best, I'll post another shot.
~julie~
Julie, maybe Froggie would like to hold court in Kooger's basement? Lemme see -- grow lights and lily pads and robotic dragonflies that can be buzzed about like those radio-controlled toy airplanes (MaryE could navigate) -- great place to naturalize moss and toad stools peopled by MarciaGeiger -- maybe some vertical slabs of wood harboring Tillandsias and Haworthias (relatives of Bromeliads aka pineapple) -- There could be burnt offerings from Balvenie and Darius' foodcapades -- Woodspirit could be docent -- We could call this Part II of Blooms' Dead Lawn Society -- Kooger could charge admission and eventually move to a dryer clime ...
Did not mean to leave anyone out - will be baaaack :)
PS Julie you have mail.
Karen....ROTFLMAO!! I LOVE that! LOL & LOL (Tears rolling down my cheeks...is that good for my surgery? :-D)
~julie~
And the rest of us can give new meaning to mermaid suits! :)
Loved your post, Karen! You paint such beautiful word pictures....
Gotta go check that froggie..can I bring my toads too??? And other bog plants..and the butterflies that like to drink ...?
Fantastic plan!! bring on the chicken too! there'll be lots of room for him to roost on the ceiling joists. I could put the pool table on cement posts, it can be shade for the critters and we could play pool in our swimsuits (yikes!) ... the sump-pump pits could be bbq pits ... we could have a bonfire with the rotten wood (after it dries) ... oh wait, one of the pits could hold ice and keep the drinks cold! DS already has the incense burning down there - come on over! You're all responsible for carrying your own chairs and drinks down - my calves and knees are aching - not another trip down those bloody stairs for me today!!! LOL
Darius, you are SO right. I love to read Karen's 'stories'. (What an imagination!)
M5! I saw one similar to that in one of my container gardening mags...and I LOVE it!!
Marcia...of COURSE you bring your toads...AND butterflies!
~julie~
Karen what a grand plan. And I love the idea of mermai suits for us. Can we wear our DG te shirts on top?
I won a frog as a door prize at the Texoma RU on Sunday - can he come too?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1476367
Adding 'Knife Thrower' to your other skills on your CV now Darius? You are supposed to throw them at a target not yourself, didn't anybody tell you?;>)
Julie glad it all went well and hope the world is soon crystal clear.
Carol
Would that be considered tatooing? Or does one have to rub a color into the open wound to make it truly a tatoo?
Froggie needed a seat belt, how did you keep him from jumping out?
We're all free spirits here - no permission needed. So, are Darius and Blooms teaming up as a tatoo team? I guess they'll need steadying music - isn't there a Danube River waltz? DG Tshirts sound fine - Dave will be so proud of us :) First Kooger's basement and then the n e i g h b o r h o o d mwahaha. We're gonna need all the toads and butterflies and chickens we can muster.
Neighborhood be switched, take over the WORLD. Teach those fools with their manicured lawns what nature really looks like, ponds everywhere! Flowers blooming their heads off!! There'll be no time for war or pestilance (spelling?) because people will be too busy weeding, fertilizing, and deadheading. I have more garden critters to contribute, and I'm sure others do too...We'll fix this planet yet!
Hippo planters too! they love water too - ahhhh wait a minute ..... are we sure we wanna include hippos in the ponds? Maybe they better just be planters!
If this hippos are in the pond there will be no room for us! Not that we're hipposssss
Kooger, glad to see you back amongst us, but SO sorry to hear about yet another flood. : (
Mine went on so many years I began to feel like Sisyphus, but having to bail the basement every few months instead of pushing that darned rock.
Maybe the mermaid party IS best and would cheer you up! Not to mention the laughs we'd ALL get from it. : )
O.K. Darius, you made me look!! Sisyphus rang a bell, but didn't play a tune so I had to look it up. *grin* This link brought back more than I want to remember about high school.LOL

Thank the Good Lord I have a dictonary around when you post, darius....I knew he had to be the Greek god of something, but now I know. thanks
How many more interests do you have? Just going to keep surprising us, huh....
Darius is our Renaissance Woman....I'm sure there are many more surprises in store.
Pati
Ah, I knew of Sisyphus from Albert Camus http://www.sccs.swarthmore.edu/users/00/pwillen1/lit/msysip.htm
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0679733736/103-9788321-8677441?v=glance
Probably first had it in Mythology in school but don't remember, LOL.
Hap, I have enough interests to qualify for ADHD. Kind of like Macbeth's ... tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury; signifying nothing.
Heh, ol' Al....but I disagree with that desertation. I believe that Sisyphus has got to be depressed beyond belief, not happy, or did I read it wrong? Working to achieve the summit, he has to realize it is for naught...and the horror does come to fruition. Or am I missing his blinded pleasure of the thought of just getting the stone up the hill?
Just wanted to let y'all know I'm still around. I have to nearly bury my face in the monitor to see what you're saying...but I'm getting a laugh or two while I'm at it. I think I *know* that Sisyphus character...and *I* am *him*! LOL
I just figured out something. Do you know that everything is SMALLER when you only have double vision in ONE eye!? :-D I noticed it when I realized the rosemary plants that I'd transplanted in my herb garden hadn't actually been *eaten* by a rabbit...they just weren't as large as I remembered them being. (Oh, man...someone tell me this is going to get BETTER...and SOON! Next thing I'll know my property won't actually be a s big as I thought it was. hehehe)
I *love* mermaid parties! Can I dive?? :-D (Someone has to do the belly flops!)
~julie~
How can you have Double Vision with One eye? LOL
LOL, Hap!
*I* am *him*! Isn't that supposed to be *I* are *him* *giggle*. I think now would be a good time to visit you...I would forever be in your mind as a small, slim little person. I'm sure when all this eye stuff clears up, I would just be my old short, fat dumpy self!

Those stairs at work were killers today -- my poor aching calves for doing water duty again. And guess what happened at 2:14 am? DS is standing by my bed - mom mom the other pump isn't working - there's water all over the fruit room and furnace room. I thought I was having a nightmare! but no it was real. I dragged myself outa bed, staggered back downstairs and yessiree - the water met me at the furnace room door! Slopped thru the water to the pump wiggled it and on it goes. GRRRR! rotten rotten thing. So I waited awhile till the pit was empty and got the flood light trained down there. The float was rubbing against the cement wall of the pit. RATS! my fault for that. I had dumped gallons and gallons of water that I vacuumed up earlier into the pit and the force of the water had jiggled the pump against the pit wall. So I staggered back to bed - not a real happy camper. DH managed to grunt at me when i crawled back in bed. What's the problem. Nothing! I crabbed, it's fine. New sign out front: HOUSE FOR SALE!! I probably have the cleanest basement floor in the county. And I really didn't care about that at all!
(((((Laura)))))
Hi all,
Kooger, so sorry about that water problem. Fill it in with dirt, no problem, (Spoken from one who's house is on a slab of concrete.)
Julie, Hope things clear up for you soon.
Love those frogs and hippos!
Yesterday was a good day, I came home after 9 hard hours of work and found a 12 pack of Bud Lite on my doorstep. Landlord called later to give apology for not mowing the yard yet. He left the beer.
Today, he came, mowed the yard, (after 3 weeks of growth) didn't use a bag on the mower and all that mowed grass went into my pond and hibiscus pots. He mowed one of my crinums and 2 bulb sprouts of something, I forget what. I would lose my temper but can't, his wife is dog sitting for me Fri and Sat so I can go to the round up in Jacksonville. Three weeks ago he mowed down my millet grass. The birds will go hungry now.
I guess, I should got to HD and get me some border logs or little fencing or something. I don't spose you can teach a mechanic gardening concerns.
K, I have vented. Thank you.
:^)))
Laura, that for sale sign might be for the best - In our marriage, I have to say that it's been the H H H O U S S S E that has worn the pants.
edited to add - If not a for sale sign, maybe a "for rent" sign around MollyMc's landlord's neck?

Thanks Bluespiral......I needed that giggle. :^)))))
Another flood, Oh, Kooger, what a trial. And you didn't wake up your DH?? You are destined for sainthood........have you considered a moat around the house? A berm across the back? Moving? I don't know how you stand it.
Can't stop yawning, think it must be bedtime...missed my little nappy this afternoon, you know, the one I take while pretending to watch tv.
Incidentally, I'm not putting on a bathing suit no matter what the occasion. Last time I did it I scared myself so bad, I had to go eat a pint of Godiva ice cream to recover.

Waving frantically at Marcia!!!! How are you? We seem to be missing each other. Do you have new digs yet? Did I miss that?
Molly, Oh boy, I am hoping that the beer is for YOU not the irresponsible lawn mower cutterguy. What a waste of beeer on that guy!
Being of the same opinion as you M5 - bathing suits? Nope, no way! Like my chocolate too much to expose any of my skin other than arms. legs. head and feet to the sun. I get some weird kind of farmer tan but keep my diginity .....I think!
Dianne
Bringing Rhubarb pie for a taste tomorrow plus some Snickerdoodles. Be hungry everybody.
Dianne
