Honeysuckle ripoff?

Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

I recently purchased some honeysuckle cuttings and when they arrived at my home they looked like dried out twigs with leaves that were dead and just as dried out. They had a barely damp paper towel wrapped around the bottom of the twigs with a few black spots indicating mold was beginning to grow. Is this a normal way to send/propogate honeysuckle?

I too recently received some honeysucklel vines that I ordered from Forestfarms and they were packed in paper tubes filled with soil and have 18-20 inch long branches with green leaves. However, you could have ordered bareroot plants and they are shipped looking dead. But even these are generally packaged with some type of soil medium around the roots to keep them alive while being shipped. If they are bareroot, soak them in water for 8-12 hours and then plant and hope for the best. Who did you order from and did you check with the Garden Watchdog to see others experiances with that company? You also might want to contact this company to see if they had any problems with delayed shipping or if they have some suggestions as to what you should do with their twigs. Good luck, Indi. Gil.

Honeysuckle was on sale at Bluestone Perenials and I bought 2 of them for 4 dollars each. I received them last week and was quite pleased. They were in 4 inch pots and 8 to 10 inches long with several branches.

I took some honeysuckle cuttings from a neighbor's vine and put them in plain ole' water in a window. They took awhile but eventually rooted. This is the vine's 3rd year. It looks like it is finally going to bloom.
