Here's a cleaned up copy - did this for printing, thought I'd save others some time.

Did You Know That?

Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately -- without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional "pain relievers."
Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns.

Before you head to the drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose.

Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as a massage oil, for instant relief for aching muscles.

Sore throat? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly -- even though the product was never been advertised for this use.

Honey remedy for skin blemishes...Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight.

Listerine therapy for toenail fungus...Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again.

Easy eyeglass protection... To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small dropof Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them.

Coca-Cola cure for rust... Forget those expensive rust removers. Just saturate an abrasive sponge with Coca Cola and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done.

Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer...If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly.

Smart splinter remover...just pour a drop of Elmer's Glue-All over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue.

Hunt's tomato paste boil cure...cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head.

Balm for broken blisters...To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine... a powerful antiseptic.

Heinz vinegar to heal bruises...Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process.

Kill fleas instantly. Dawn dish washing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas.

Rainy day cure for dog odor... Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh.

Eliminate ear mites... All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing.

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

If chewing gum is stuck to skin, clothes or hair, take ice cubes and rub them on the gum. The gum will freeze and will come off easily.

Remove annoying stickers from thistles and cactus by covering the area with masking or medical tape overnight. Pull off the tape in the morning with the stickers stuck on it.

thanks I"m gonna print of f your copy LOL

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

I do the 409 thing to kill ants all the time. You'd be suprised how fast it works.

Also there's the old trick to getting wax out of furniture, carpet, etc. An iron and some paper towels. Iron over the papertowels and as the wax remelts it soaks up into the paper towel. :)

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

that's neat, thanks

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Love some of these ideas. I know my Grandmother use to soak brown paper bags in white vinegar and apply them to sunburns. I know it sounds silly but it always took the sting and heat out of it.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Would that vinegar and paper bag treatment work for itchy insect bites? I have one now that has made a red welt about 1 1/2 inches in diameter that feels like an anthill looks. I have it covered with a large bandaid and Benedryl cream and am taking antihistamine every 4 hours. If all goes like it usually does I will have itches for about 10 more days, so HELP if you can. Thanks.

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Don't know but it wouldn't hurt to try it. I have a RX cream the Dr. gave me I'll try to find it and post the name so maybe you can ask for some. It works great for me. I still welt up but it doesn't turn into that hard knot or drive me nuts itching for days.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Mary, are you sure you don't have a bite like from a Brown Recluse?

Oakland, OR(Zone 8a)

According to some authorities, the Brown Recluse spider hasn't made it to Oregon. We have the Black Widow, but that's the only truly venomous spider here. However, all spiders have venom - it's just that the only people affected are those who are truly allergic. Don't know what could have gotten you, Mary, but it sure sounds like an allergy rather than poison. Hope you can get rid of it in a hurry. Dotti

Auburn, AL(Zone 8a)

Brown recluse bite should turn into a crater looking bite that keeps growing so easy way to tell on that.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Dotti, don't listen to the authorities, the Brown Recluse has been in Oregon for years. We heard about somebody in the Bend area being bitten by one at least years ago. This was probably a small rusty brown ant. The bite feels like a bee sting. Eeeyoooow! I was camped out last weekend in central Oregon and was aware of the ants presence. They live in holes in the ground, are about 3/8 inch long and a solid rust brown. For such a small critter they sure have a powerful bite. My itchy red welt reaction is the same to spiders, bee and wasp stings and flea bites but with wasp stings I also can have lots of swelling. Once when I got a sting on my ring finger between the ring and the first knuckle my hand and arm swelled almost to the elbow and we nearly didn't get the ring off. I have an epi kit for extreme reactions but haven't had to use it yet.
