Rootdoctor, I left some of my brugs. on the patio two winters ago ,which was a particularly cold winter for us. Several of my brugs. looked just like yours. I think it is cold damage, but that is just my thoughts. I certainly am no expert.
I hope that is all it is.
I think Patricia is right. The spots won't leave, but they will begin to blend in as the plant grows larger.
Root glad to here yours doesn't have SB.
Joelle also glad that you burned yours before it spread.
Yay Rooty, Your JN will be just fine.
Joelle, That was a good decision last year. Sounds like you caught it in time , at least I hope you did.

Thank you for the confirmation, easy come easy go! I was asked to add the pics to the SB thread and will do that. I wish I would have remembered to smell it after I snapped it off- you never know it might have smelled bad too! I had made a few notes on it and had spoke of the strange texture on the inside and that the 'spots' were predominantly in the top half of the plant and had not yet got to the main trunk. Thanks again everyone. Joelle
Root, good news that you don't have SB.
Joelle, also good news that you tossed it and burned it fast.
Now I've got to go out and have a close look at mine, just to be sure....
Linda
Root I am glad that yours will be ok and does not have SB. I keep a watch on mine and I check the nodes and make sure there is not a discolored grayish ring circling them. I don't know any other way to check them visually before the ring appears.
The black spots appear on the green parts only, never on the wooden parts.
