Dave and his friend (neighbor) Jorge visited me here in San Antonio, Texas. They weren't "Paper Dave" and "Paper Jorge", they were in person. We had a great time discussing plants and swapping plants. Some of the plants Dave and Jorge took with them came from the DGers who attended the Central Texas Roundup held in Kerrville and some were plants that I had available for the taking. I always thought that Dave is a nice guy; but, he is way beyond nice as is Jorge. I feel privileged to have met them both.
Dave also delivered my t-shirts that I had ordered so that I didn't have to pay the shipping which was very considerate of him. They are really great. If you haven't ordered yours, you better hurry because they are going fast.
Photos of our visit follow:

Dave and Jorge's Visit
Cool....looks like ya'll had fun! But why isn't Dave wearing a DG T-shirt?? LOL
I don't wear it every single day. :-)
htop: it was great meeting you. We had a blast and it was such a pleasure seeing beautiful gardens and talking to a knowledgeable gardening (and an uber at that!!!)
I'm looking forward to next time!
dave
Thanks, htop!! Enjoyed the photos, but where's htop's pic???? So what'd ya get, Dave?
htop got cropped out of the picture she posted. I wish she'd repost with both of us, but maybe the picture didn't turn out good? That happens to me all the time (usually the camera catches me making a funny face!!)
I got an unbelievable amount of goodies in exchange for the pittance that I brought. Way too much to list!!
dave
Non-paper Dave and non-paper Jorge certainly seem to have enjoyed the visit! You Texans know how to entertain. :)
Awaiting proof that htop had fun, too...
What a great day you all had :) Your larkspur are beautiful and it sure is nice to "see" dave and Jorge :)
Here's a picture of htop at the Central TX RU. We were thrilled to meet her, she really deserves her Uber title. She's a special lady, and we're glad she's ours!! (In the spirit of gardeners though, we'll share her.)
:-)

Yeah.....another face to go with a name! Thanks maggie for posting.
I am happy that you all have enjoyed the photos. I wanted to share Dave and Jorge with you since you couldn't be there with us. I cropped myself out because the sun was glaring on me and with my white hair I looked like a ghost. Besides, I am sure everyone wanted a closer photo of Dave who is so much cuter than myself. By the way, his eyes are a beautiful blue which does not show up well in the photos. I had a wonderful time and enjoyed watching Dave and Jorge to dig up some plants that were straying from their boundary.
Dave, I am looking forward to our next visit. Thank you and Jorge for the plants I received which will make super additions to my landscape and thank you for your kind words. You guys made my day.
Dea, my larkspur say "thank you for the compliment".
Maggiemoo, oh, no! Now my cover in the Federal Witness Protection Program has been blown. I will have to assume another identity, move to a new location and take all of my plants with me. I think I will leave my big old, yard destroying dog behind this time :o) Thank you for your kind comments which I am not sure that I really deserve. I was thrilled to meet all of you at the Central TX RU and hope to see you again.
Maggiemoo is one great lady.
htop, what a beautiful lady you are and what beautiful hair. My grandmother's hair was that color and I told my hairdresser one day I wanted my hair to be the same as my grandmother's. I guess it's not to be....I'll be a salt and pepper kind of gal for a very, very long time :(
What fun you all must have had. It would be nice to have some DGers real close by to go and visit. I think VGMKY in Louisville in my closest neighbor and I've met Gary......what a sweetheart he is!
Happy Day...Kathy
Kathy, thanks for your kind comments. My golden blonde hair started turning white when I was in my late 20s and then by the time I was in my 30s, it was almost white in front, but I dyed it blonde. When I hit my 50s, I decided to go au' natural.
It is great to have DGers to meet in person. Maybe there are some others close to you that will send you a shout and let you know that they are near you.
I have met several. I went to the KY RU two years ago. I have a few stop in to see us at the farm and recently I got to visit with Gardenwife and Kathleen while to and fro a trip to Massachusetts. I have never met a DGer I didn't like :) So many beautiful people in one spot, how wonderful.
My mother turned 77 this year and still colors her hair. I've told her that she should let it go au natural, but she's from the generation that believed that dying your hair was the only way to go. (actually i think that generation has come around again...). i've never put so much as a rinse in my hair and I'm always told I have very healthy hair. I recently had 16 inches cut off for Locks of Love. (salt & pepper color). I hadn't seen my family in 3 years and was surprised how my brothers have that color hair I'd love to have. hmm, go figure. We are all blessed with tremendously thick hair.
When I saw that picture of you, my first thought was "she doesn't have a hair out of place and how pretty it is" :) You are blessed with a beautiful head of hair.
Take care and perhaps one day we'll meet. My SIL is from TX and I think his mother's boyfriend lives in San Antonio. ?
Have a wonderful day. Kathy :)
Kathy, yes, all the DGers I have met are so nice. That is so nice of you to cut your hair and give it to Locks of Love. My hair is very fine and thin and I have always wished for thick hair. It used to be very long and I had to cut it short many years back when I had become to ill to fix it properly. I still miss my long hair and have tried to let it grow back out; but at a certain stage, it starts looking so awful that I cut it short again. Dyes sure can ruin your hair if they are not applied properly. I became allergic to them. Thanks again for the compliments. If you are ever my way, let me know. Meeting you would be such fun.
langbr, here is the photo of me when Dave and Jorge visited. I touched up the color so I don't look like a ghost. I also removed a huge, ugly, swollen scar that runs down my neck from right below the ear to my collarbone. I had carotid surgery a couple of months ago. I didn't want you to think I had a fight in a Texas honky tonk bar and had had my throat slit.
LOL, htop!! Even with a large scar on your throat I don't think I'd ever think you were a frequenter of honky-tonks. LOL
That's a terrific photo and look at all them pretties behind you. I'm very please to meet ya! You look fabulous for having major surgery just 2 months ago. You appear to be the essence of healthiness.
Question for ya..... are those bakers racks you have your plants on? On closer inspection I see they have trays like they have at Subway for the bread they bake.
The carotid surgery wasn't that bad,. Compared to some others I have had, it was like being stuck by a rose thorn. The racks are for my greenhouse, but I need to level the ground upon which the greenhouse sits and place pea gravel down before I can move it in. I had asked my step-son to be on the lookout for anything I could use as individual plant stands. One morning, he came by and told me to come outside and look at the "little plant stand" he had found for me. He had this shelving unit with lots and lots of racks on a flatbed trailer. I was so happy when I saw it. It is chrome plated, has 3 sections (total = 8 ft. wide x 4 ft. tall x 2.5 ft. deep), is very sturdy and the racks can be independently adjusted to just about any height. The very bottom racks are one piece, but the others are half racks. That is, in order to make one solid rack at the same height in a section, you must use 2 racks that meet in the center. One in the front and one in the back. So I can have the shelves staggered by plant size. Next to my leg, you can see where I only placed one of the racks in the front.
He obtained it from a pharmacy that was being remodeled and they were putting in new shelving units. They were going to throw it away. It is perfect for my greenhouse and I can't wait to put it in there. He brought 2 other smaller shelving units the next week that each have a bar going across the top in the middle which are perfect for placing hanging baskets upon and they also have lower sheves. He said he will try to locate another of the chrome plated ones so I can have one in the yard to put plants upon when I am bringing them out of the greenhouse to become acclimated. So, I am set as for as shelves go in the greenhouse and they didn't cost a thing. I had been using saw horses with boards on them and other weird stuff to sit my plants upon this winter. I am very thankful to my dear step-son for these.
What a gem - of a step-son, and of a find!
Good son indeed!

Dear Htop:
Thank you for your hard, valuable work and thank you for sharing with DG's.
So helpful to have a photo of the person I talk with on my PC.
My prayer is that you continue in good health where you can enjoy your plants.
I'm sure I speak for all when I say you are making a meaningful contribution!
Thank you for your generosity!
Happy Gardening
LOL at "non-paper" people remark... you guys are crackin' me up :)
Sarah
And now we can envision blue eyes and a very handsome smile whenever Dave responds!!!
Htop - you have the most beautiful Silver hair!! When my hair goes grey, I hope it is half as lovely
SudieGoodman,
Thank you so much for your kind words and your prayer for my good health. I have had a very trying year and a half health-wise, but have been very blessed because some very serious conditions were diagnosed and corrected before they caused serios damage. I have pretty well fully recovered from emergency quadruple bypass open heart surgery about a year and a half ago and the emergency carotid surgery in February. The huge blotclot that had travelled from the carotid necessitating the carotid surgery could have travelled to my brain, but I was fortunate that it lodged in a vessel feeding the retina of my eye. It has dissolved and I have no permanent visual problems. I am now fully recovered from having both of my tonsils removed and lymph node biopsies at the end of October. The doctor was 90 percent sure I had tonsil cancer that had spread to a sublingual gland, several lymph nodes and one vocalchord after CAT scans were performed . No cancer at all and a serious previosly undetected infection that was spreading through my body was stopped in its tracks. My guardian angels are truly watching over me and I have much for which to be thankful.
Sarah, indeed the non-paper Dave and the non-paper Jorge are much better than the paper versions. What really great guys.
Anitabryk2, Dave's eyes are the most beautiful blue I have ever seen and he smiles that sweet and sometimes devilish smile a lot. When I see him in person, I have an urge to "tweek" his cheek (as a form of motherly affection only ... don't be frightened, Dave).
