LOL...Veronica......I had a family of "dillos" to and you bet they liked the dog food or anything else I put in. So do the Coons, Crows and Rabbits and they came around to until I did the dog food a little differently.

The dog food is added to the compost now and turned often so it is not dog food anymore by the time it makes it to the garden. But with all the soil amendments I have plenty of worms and that is more of what the 'dillos" are after.

So far I have just about gotten rid of all the "Dillos" I know of but I know there is one more cause he was in there last night. So I will have to keep a nightly watch until I can get him to........my neighbor is greatful that I have just about taken care of them because they were living under his house. He had tried traps and rat poison to no availe and they had a huge hole under his foundation. He had even filled it back in as well as pushed a water hose under trying to drown them. But he second thought that and decided if he did kill them under there could he stand the 'Stink". He works nights and couldn't stay up to get them when they come out.
Sorry animal lovers but these have become a terriable nusiance and they have got to go. The squirrels are just as bad but don't dig a big a hole......LOL.....oh well can't win them all but we can try and make progress.....

Thanks for all your well wishes I surly appreciate them all. And from time to time need the encouragemant and thoughts of your concern.

I hope you are doing better today Dee.

So how clever you are. You put in dog food in to feed the worms. That is clever. SO you use dried dog food I take it. LOL.

Yes Kell and I make sure it is not an oily dog food. And your right the dog food feeds the worms because before I did this I had almost no worms in the garden and now it is just teaming with earth worms. And everything is growing and flowering better than ever...
The dog food I use is pretty cheap, a 50 lb bag is about 12.00 dollars and it is about 35% protein...........I buy it at Tractor Supply. So far that is the cheapest one I have found and it is just as good for the plants as it is for the worms as it supplies some extra nitrogen.....

What ever gave you the idea Dee?

My DH will think I am mad. A friend told me last year that cornmeal prevents fungal diseases on roses. For about a week the garden had a blanket of white all over the soil. He could not believe I did that. LOL. Then there are the alfalfa pellets. Oh I used molasses too last year. Now I will explain to him why I bought dog food, to feed our worms of course. LOL. Hey, if I buy cat food instead he will never notice.

Hummm, I haven't used cat food and I don't know why it wouldn't work. Cat food has fish in it and fish are a good fertilizer to so it might be worth a try. I didn't think of cat food but it sounds like a good idea. Wonder how much a 50 # bag of cat chow would cost.
Let me know if you do it and I may give it a try to.............wow cat food, you know it may even be better. What all does the label say it has in it and what is the protein content.? My cats don't eat cat food they preferr the dogs so I don't buy it anymore.....
