I am anxious to see how the next blooms do. I agree with Susie that it is darker than either parent. Also, the temps have been cooler than usual in our area and it is very dark for not being warm weather. I am happy for you Dee.

You are one very lucky Brug addict! Congrats! :-) I plan on trying to cross some - hope I get as lucky as you did!
Dee, she's gorgeous, congrats!!! Job well done!
Julie
guess I've been lurking... Nice flowers Dee! *congrats*
The first thing that popped in my brain cell when I saw the first pic - Kool-Aid!
Now it won't go away. I forget what flavor, but the commercial and picture on the pack had the same clear dark color like that.
Does it open fully before the flower starts to fade? It's got a great dark pink color.
Unfortunatuly Carter it did not open completly before the flower began to fade. But being a first flower I will reserve judgement on all it appears to be. I have more blooms to open soon and we will see what they bring.
Raspberry Kool-Aid Blaine?
Oooo, that just might be it.
Now in another thread, it was said that Arborea smells like *Grape KoolAid*
what a funny smell! lol!
Another kool-aid package that might be close is the "Tropical Punch" one.
So funny - these memories have come back and I can practically smell it!
Now those are two names that would be a great choice for this one, nice!
Julie
Hopefully it will open better for you in the next flush - she's really a great color! Also, if that happens again, you might consider this: Often "established" named brugs don't perform for me as well as they do in less heat-harsh climates. Beautiful, but I typically only get a couple days per bloom as opposed to a week or so for other people.
It might just be our climate!
Update:
These are taken over a period of 2 days.........the first is as it is beginning to open and I noticed it has more color on the edge than the previous bloom. But it is still just about as dark as the first bloom. We are still awfully cool here for this time of year so I do think when the temps heat up this one will be Dine-O-Mite........
WoWWWWWWWW that is going to be an awesome color Dee!!
Very pretty and healthy, Dee!!
Fingers still crossed Dee !
Does it have six points? Could the bloom be so full it can't open any more?
Beautiful, Dee. Hope it opens for you.
Luv the coloration!
:) Donna
Gee Dee, maybe it is just the weather. You really need to see it in the summer. I just love it though. Usually these open so wide. I bet it does well later on. And the color is just so great.
I think it is the weather and I am so excited about what the summer will bring in this one. I love the Yellow tube and the dark Pink skirt. I don't know of another brug with that combination..........do any of you? I have looked and maybe I have overlooked one that is similuar.............
I do think the heat will cut down on how many days it is open. I know it the effect it has on other brugs so I pretty sure this one won't be any different. But it is opening more than it did with the first bloom. I don't think it is 6 pointed Shirley but I will check in the morning. I know the first one is only 5.
I am still thrilled with it and I am so happy to have been so blessed with this beauty.
Tulry beautiful, Dee!
Fantabulous,!!!!! What's not to love with these Angels, Annie
Amen!
This is the whole tree today. Weather is heating up and the blooms get darker by afternoon. Seems to be more closed in the daytime and a shade lighter but by 2-3 o'clock it is darker and begins to open more.....The flowers last for about 4 days.
I really love this one it is different than any others I have and the fragrance is strong from early evening till morn....

Aloha
Thats a real pretty one... I have been watching and it seems to have darken nicely. Lucky you....
It does have really nice color! I bet you're so excited!!!
Such a great pink, and a true pink too. The leaves are also such an incredible green. A keeper for sure. Congrats!!
I'm with Carol, it's a dirty job but someone has to do it (I'm really LOL), I'll trial it in southeast Arky for you!!!! I LOVE it, Dee, it is very different and your description makes my mouth water. I really would be a very happy girl if some of the beauties like yours would like it in my area. The foliage is lovely, really a knockout all the way round...
Very pretty, indeed!
I said it before, and now I'm saying it again, Just beautiful, congratulations!!!
Dee,
The contrast between the dark pink and the green leaves is lovely. Do your Brugmansias get sun all day? I'm trying to decide whether to plant my Brugs in the ground or keep them in pots, but need to see which can tolerate our colder winters.
Betty, these are in full sun until late evening. I have tilled composted manure, alfalfa pellets, dog food, pearlite, spagaham moss and leaves into this to improve the soil to the liking of the brugs. I guess they are liking, I suppose it did good because they are really doing well.
I wish to thank everyone for all their comments and I am sorry I have not posted more on this thread but I have been a bit under the weather..... All your encouragement means alot to me and I really apprecitate all of you and your opinions.

Oh wow!! Thats just beautiful!!
Truly stunning!
Dee,
I'm sorry to hear you're under the weather. Thank you for letting me know how you amended your soil. But dog food? Wouldn't that attract unwanted pests. We have armadillos who love to dig.
Hope you get to feeling better soon, Dee.
