I've written an email to them and am waiting for their reply.

I think Dave may have some input on the legal issues as well - if he hasn't yet been consulted, I'd be happy to do that.

Hmm.....wonder where the legal line would end up being drawn, between using the phrase "Canadian gardening" in everyday conversation, and using it for the title of a public "room" where everyday conversation takes place? :-)

I think the voting should continue....in the end our forum will prolly have the name "Canadian Gardening Forum" or "Canadian Gardeners Forum" and neither one is exactly the same as the name of the periodical. I don't think any copyright will be affected (but am still waiting for a reply).

Just stick 'forum' on to the end of whatever, fixes all copyright probs.

Shannon I think Dave will be considering all of that when the time comes...when it's presented to him you are welcome to give him your input as well and I will include whatever Canadian Gardening has to say about copyright infringement (if it is needed).

I'm not sure I understand the significance of the copyright only protecting the contents of the periodical - do you mean, as opposed to the title?

Thats what I said some few feet of messages ago.

Ginny who fought & Won!!!! G&M about 25 years ago. They started using my company name (retail & wholesale travel related) as the title of their travel related back page. They had to pay + court costs. I didn't have a lawyer, did it myself. hee hee.

Dave is often approached with requests for additional forums and changes to his site...of course the final decision is his to make. He does like knowing that a certain amount of members support whatever request is presented to him as well.

Well, if Canadian Gardeners is not OK, then what about "Canada Gardens"?
