Synthetic Grass

Big Bear City, CA

Hi all,

Been busy and haven't had a chance lately to say HI so HI!!

I was wondering if many of you have heard of or seen synthetic grass and what you think?

I 'm in the idea stage!

Good to see all of you!

I really looked into it and there are some great products out there now. I would have had to get my city's written permission for it. But ultimately it was way too expensive. I only wanted to do a little area and sod would have cost $300.00 and the synthetic grass $1500.00 and is only guarenteed for 10 years. If you can afford it you might really like it.

I looked at my posts from last year and the estimate I got was $4000.00 for a 25x25 area. I had forgotton how really expensive it was. Here's that link if you want.

Personally, I think it looks really nice, especially for an area that's strictly ornamental, as most lawns are. Also, it's very environmentally friendly because it uses no water or fertilizer and requires no mowing or weeding. (Seems like it would pay for itself after a while in the savings you'd have not needing the aforementioned items.) Under the right circumstances it could be a good thing.

I agree it looks very good. My lawn is now sufferung from dog urine stains and requires some work to keep it presentable. But I though the price was too much at the time, expecially since I had a garden to fill up.

I may look to again in the future as they have some good products out there now.
