I'm sorry if this question has been asked and answered a million times, I just couldn't find a reference.
I've noticed that some people are posting pictures that are actually two or four pictures in a single frame....How'd you do that??? I'm assuming that it is software driven, but I can't figure out how to do it in any of the photo applications I have (I have Photoshop 7.0, Irfanview, and NeatImage.)
I hope this makes sense, here is an example http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/490350/ by Happenstance.
Thank you!
Mary Ev.
photo posting question
Evening Mary -
Did I hear my name??? LOL
In the very basic simple software I use, all you do is "File" "Open" "New". It creates a "canvas" of whatever size you request. Then open however many images you want to include in the composite image. "Copy" each image individually, then paste onto the "New" canvas, then arrange to your taste.
PS If you have several images you would like to make into a composite and can't figure it out, just email them to me and I'll send it back to you. :-)
Bless you Candy, (I was hoping you would catch this! :) ) I'll have a go and if I can't figure it out, I may take you up on your offer. I have some new baby succulents that I would like to see if anyone can ID and thought it would be easier for everyone if I put a top and side shot together. I will let you know!
Mary Ev.
Irfanview lets you do it simply, too -- Nothing fancy, but gets 'er done.
1. Click IMAGE > CREATE PANORAMA IMAGE
2. Click the Add Images button
3. In the resulting Open file dialogue, navigate to the folder where your images are
4. Hold CTRL down and click the files you want to open within the folder
5. Click the Open button
6. To add more images from other folders, repeat 2-5 as needed
7. Use the Sort Images or Move Up and Move Down buttons to sort photos
8. Indicate whether you want the panorama to go horizontal (across) or vertical (up and down)
9. Click the Create Image button.
Depending on your original images' sizes, you'll probably need to resize the whole new panoramic image.
1. Click IMAGE > RESIZE/RESAMPLE
2. Make sure "resample" is chosen under "Size Method"
3. Resize so the longest dimension of the panorama is around 800-900 pixels
You will probably want to sharpen the image just a bit after resizing it smaller (IMAGE > SHARPEN or Shift+S). To change the amount of sharpening that does, first go to IMAGE > EFFECTS > EFFECTS BROWSER and adjust the sharpness default. I have mine set to 5.
If you want to number the photos, do this in an area of each image in your panorama:
1. Select a rectangle with your mouse
2. EDIT > INSERT TEXT INTO SELECTION (or press CTRL+T)
3. Use that dialogue to insert a number in the selected area -- you might need to experiment with font size and color until it is how you like it
4. Repeat 1-3 for each image
Hope that helps! :)

It doesn't take much to amuse me GW.......Is that ice tea or bourbon?
LOL! It's ice-tea. I didn't have a ruler handy and I wanted to show how tall those iris are. The glass is a 16oz ice tea glass. ;)
That is so great Gardenwife - I have never been able to figure that out - thank you! Now to post in the ID forum!
You are both great, thank you again!
Mary Ev.
Wheeeeeww GW......you had me worried there for a moment. Very pretty Iris and I'm not a real fan (remeber my mother's garden with horrible stakes holding them all up), but those are really sweet.
Can you imagine what the picture would have look like if that glass held bourbon??
I was so focused on the instructions, I didn't notice the irises, and they're my favorite. What variety are they?
I don't know what they are! They're destined for the ID forum, actually. Is that first one poison ivy, by chance? Gosh, I hope not.
I'm afraid I don't know. I'm so scared of ANYTHING with three leaves that I use RoundUp on anything the least suspicious. The leaves look a little more delicate than I think poison ivy looks, but I'm sure no expert.
Just don't touch it after you've had your 'iced tea', Kimberley. Have Howie do it first. *giggle*
Editted to add the link for a poison ivy pic... questionable... don't either of you touch it yet. :) http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/4473/
