What does everyone think of renaming our forum

How about Bloomin' Canadians...lol....sorry, not serious...

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

LOL, Christine. I can hear it now...Those Bloomin' Canadians! :D

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I really like the banner, Joan - very well done! Wow.

What would peeps think of adding a little pic to Joan's banner to represent our north, if we can settle on one? The tundra/arctic must be half of our area, geographically speaking. Small population, but a huge part of what makes Canada distinctive, IMO. Culturally, meteorologically, even botanically one could say.

Another question, that Ginny already alluded to - do we want to have the forum title flexible enough to make francophone Canadians feel equally welcome, should any decide to sign up? (if none have already-?) Nothing to do with where I live now! - lol - just trying to imagine the shoe being on my other foot. Plus, it would be a neat little thing to make our banner distinctive. Just floating a balloon...

What about an inukshuk???? I love the one they are going to use for the Olympics!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

That is a very neat story. Thanks for the link and idea, Glenda.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

ggd, Hey, I've got one of those too. Took this picture on Easter Sunday. It is located on a stone wall on the shores of Lake Ontario.

I like that inukshuk for the Olympics too. Really neat.

Most (perhaps all) of the threads are in English. So it would be somewhat misleading to have a French title. I wouldn't be happy if I was looking for a forum in a given language and pretty much the only thing in that language was the title. Picture yourself doing a google search for "Gardening Forum" and coming up with a message board entitled "Gardening Forum" where all the posts were in German.

Well said spectrum. My thoughts ran along the same lines, but I hadn't had time to think about how to articulate those thoughts since I was at work. Thanks for your input.
Christine.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

The administration at Dave's only allows english.

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Hmmm a forum titled as "Gardening Forum" in German, I could live with that :)

Keep it simple for now. DG is flexible enough to make changes (within limits) if so requested later on

Spectrum, it would be appreciated if you could change your user preferences so that everyone knows where you hail from (don't worry we won't come kocking on your door;).

Joan, very nicely done with the banner but gotta ask carefully if the pictures used are royalty free?

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOL.....but if they had that forum we'd never have the pleasure of Max's or your presence Milan.

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

LOL I would only write in my native Bavarian slang, that should throw Max off balance :)

Eeeeek quick correction edit: Franconian slang that is, Phew

LOL poor Max.....he's too nice a guy to do that to Milan!

edited to say you've been here too long if you can't remember what slang you used to speak in!!!!!!!!!!!

JOan, here's a neat one too. There is a development going in across the road from us, and there was a lot of rock blasted out. The contractor had fun with this one weekend, and then tore it down!!

You are kinda correct and I just did a google search on my areas slang and found some poems as well as expressions written in the dialect> I still understand them but I cracked up reading it :)

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

LOL, This is getting good!!!!

I had a name in mind....Canadian Connection

Just a thought...??????????
Ingrid

Don't know who put in the last 2 cents - but I see your 2 cents and raise you 2 - what does "Canada Growing" do for anyone?.....(Grow Canada, Canada Grows, Canadian Growing).
Way to go with the banner Joan- is there room for a sailboat ??
Jo ☼

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I suggested that name in the voting forum about 3 weeks ago now, Ingrid, when they were asking for ideas for improvement for DG. I suggested (as did Darrell) that we have a new name, and I thought something along that line would be good. But Ginny pointed out that it was the name of a book.

Canada Grows... that has possiblities, Jo.

How the heck are we gonna decide this, peeps? We need a vote. Who wants to set it up? We really need to make a decision here.

My vote, also, is to go with the Banner that Joan made...as is.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Many books have been published with the same title.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

True, Pam.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I mentioned earlier that maybe we should wait till the end of the month to catch Lynn and some of the B.C.'ers that haven't put in a suggestion yet (but maybe some don't want to). I don't think there is a huge rush....Liz suggested a name change to Dave a number of years ago so a few more days shouldn't make much difference. This time maybe having a number of peeps showing their interest in something, other than Canadian trading, *might* be a deciding factor for him.

OK, the end of the month sounds fine with me then.

Hey Old Flower Girl.................Just kidding about the "eh" part!!!
Sol:)

I wouldn't want you to go with that banner. That was very rough only. Someone asked if the pictures were copy-righted. I'm not sure, to tell the truth.

If you like the idea I could work on a better one (and make sure I'm not using a copy-righted one).laff

The inunkshuk is mine and I could incorporated it if enough people want it.

This will take time anyway. I don't expect there will be drastic changes in the very near future.

Joan

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

I finally figured this out.....I don't know what I was thinking in my previous post-sorry-giving a name suggestion-little slow here...LOL

My vote, as well will be on the Banner that Joan made..

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Ingrid this thread is for name suggestions but Joan's banner is very welcome as well. :)

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

I might just get yet...LOL

Got another name- Canadian Buddies

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Joan I think your banner is fantastic but I do think Dave will want to be sure that the images aren't copyrighted before he would consider using it.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

LOL, Solomon. I just replied to your personal email and then I checked this thread and see your *triple* message. You're funny. We've got it straightened out now, right? (or maybe I should say...eh?) :D

(Zone 2b)

My vote goes to 'Canadian Gardening'. It's straightforward, not 'cutesy', and matches with the names of the other regional forums :)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

I agree!!! I've lost count of who preferred which, but here's my vote for Canadian Gardening.

So, I guess the formal voting has begun.

My vote is for Canadian Gardeners.

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

My vote is for Canadian Gardeners

South of Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

My vote is for Canadian Gardening. I think it is concise and in line with other forum names on the site.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

My vote is for 'Canadian Gardening' also.

This says it all.

Joan

Precipice Valley, BC(Zone 2a)

I prefer "Canadian Gardeners" over "Canadian Gardening"....because we're all gardeners, but not all our threads have to do with Gardening!

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Okay who jumped the gun here with voting ???????

Where is the proposed names list?
Do this in an organized manner so that other people don't get confused or feel left out here!

Pam created this thread and thus she should be the one to open the "ballot" or even create a seperate "sticky" voting thread on it.

Btw Pam (Olda Raatschn) it would be nice if you edit your first post here to list all the proposed names :). Can't have you just sit back and relax.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Uh, Oh. Olda Raatschn doesn't sound good, Pam. Maybe better Pitter Patter...:D

Milan, I think maybe a new "voting thread" might be a little cleaner, don't you?
Christine.
