What does everyone think of renaming our forum

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Canadian Forum. There is another name to put up for thevoting -when that happens.
Inanda

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Well, I guess I'm a "regular" lurker, so I'll put in my candidate: Canadian Friends Forum...just 'cause that's the way I think of you...bless ALL your little hearts! *smile*
Pati

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Definitely has a nice "friendly" ring to it, Pati. Thanks for your suggestion. :)

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Apart from a few stellar suggestions, most of which have already been copyrighted or whatever, most of our ideas are SO Canadian! After having said that, do I have any great ideas-no.
How about Boring R US ooops! Boring are We
Keeping in mind what Dave's Forum for people way north of the Mason Dixon Line means to us, can we come up with something creative yet inoffensive, catchy ,encompassing all we do here, but not worthy of the logo of the Department of Foreign Affairs?
Gardens--green, flowers, soils, tranquility; Friendship--sharing plants, knowledge, ideas, support. Diversity -- climates, occupations, situations.
Logo a blend of Maple Leaf and fleur-de-lis?
Joking folks, hope some of you will still speak to me.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

LOLOLOL......now put all of what you said above into a catchy name Dawn! ;)

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

lol, Dawn! :-) Edging close to that forbidden political zone.... lol.... although I'm more than happy to vent about politics privately, at the slightest provocation.... :-)

I agree with Ginny, to me "Canada House" will always be the building in Trafalgar Square. Anything with "bloomers" says "underwear" to me. And "Canadian Gardening" is copyrighted by the magazine - but do we know for sure that that means we can't use it as the title a forum on DG?

If we called it "Canadian Gardeners Forum", we would have to add an apostrophe after the "s", IMO, or I would have an apoplectic fit...and I've already had two this week... :-) Ditto with "Canadian Friends Forum". I like them both though.

How about "Canadian Forum"? Or a few other suggestions:

"Canada"
"Canadian Friends" (tip o' the nib to Pati)

Just tossing out another picture idea, although I really like the one of the maple leaves and the duck....how about something like the inukshuk photo on this page, on the right-hand side, about half-way down? Leaving aside copyright questions for a sec - I'm sure there'd be a fee, and so on. But the concept? Is our status as closest to the north pole one of the things that defines Canada for any of us? Or, even if so, do we want to avoid encouraging the impression of Canada as covered in snow 365 days a year?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Close to the edge, Shannon, but no cigar so to speak. I love the photos-more surreal than an Onley or markgraf print! I did admit, Pam, that I had no great idea. What are the parameters allowed? Perhaps we could get around C. Blooms by Blooms Canada or Oh Canada! It wil happen. After all, we must eclipse (sorry Kyle) Dirt Cheap, Welcome Mat and Test.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I actually liked the *Boring are We* ;) (it tickled my funny bone)....... but you mentioned soooooooooooo much more. :)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Dawn, I think you must be growing some of that "funny" grass in your garden! LOL But you do have a point.

Shannon....you obviously lived in S'toon too long. That was way too much of the "white stuff" for my liking. :D Nice snaps if you like it though.

I really hope we get to have a banner with some big ole red Maple leaves; dew drops on them or something like that.

As far as the Forum name, now I'm just confused...I know, I know, it doesn't take much...

Who has that saying about a chill pill?

dobie, ON(Zone 3a)

I like the name Canadian gardeners or Canadian gardening forum. May as well add my 2 cents LOL

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

trailingon, just wait 'till sombody tunes into "Canadian Gardeners or Gardening" and finds out ya'll grow so many "tropical" plants! LOL Lilypon can write lectures on the growing of Plumerias....what a hoot!
Pati

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

You're right, Pati. I have several tropicals myself, including Plumies. But, unfortunately, we still can't grow them outside, other than "letting them play outside on a warm sunny day"! :D

Ah but, if I lived in California, Florida, Hawaii....

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

Canadians Garden......subject.........Canadians........verb........Garden! just a thought! I take a fancy to "Canada Blooms"........E

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Canadians Garden! Yes, I like that too. :)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Where did you get your Plumies Donna?

LOLOL....thanks Pati! *Ü* Definitely had a lot of help from my warm weather, tropically located buddies over the border tho! ;)

I put together this composite as a suggestion for a new Canadian banner. Mind you, it is a rough idea only. Whatcha think?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Great Banner, Joan. Most representative of the country. Multi-multifaceted.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Please put it in the banner thread, that IMCANADIAN, started in Dave's forum. He may not do it for awhile.......... but who knows????

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Great job, Joan!

Great Banner Joan !!!

Blessings, Ingrid

dobie, ON(Zone 3a)

Super job on the banner Joan! It is a great representation of our great country.

Wonderful banner Joan, very appropriate and beautiful.

fort erie, ON(Zone 6a)

way to go joan it looks awsome

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

I love that banner Joan. It definitely says "Canada"!

On the subject of the name "Canada Blooms", I'm afraid it is probably copyrighted. It belongs to an annual event held every year in Toronto. The full title is "Canada Blooms: The Toronto Flower & Garden Show", and this year it took place March 8-12, 2006 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, South Building. This is an absolutely huge event that is well worth attending any year you get the opportunity. --Ginny

(Zone 2b)

Considering that the other regional forums are "California Gardening", "Michigan Gardening" and "Texas Gardening" it would make sense to call this one "Canadian Gardening" or "Canada Gardening". I don't think that the magazine could really complain about that, as 'Canadian gardening' is a pretty common phrase. Or just go with plain "Canadian" or "Canada". :)

Good points spectrum.

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

Great banner Joan.

North Vancouver, B.C, Canada

Great banner Joan. How does "Blooming Canada,eh?" sound?
Sol.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

NOT! Lets not give our Murrican friends any more titillation that they already enjoy...eh! :(

I'm not having much success with coming up with a new name for the forum.

We want it to have a Canadian connotation.

Hey, how about

"Blooming Canadians"

"Blooms in Canada"

"Gardening in Canada"

I rather like "Gardening in Canada" - simple but tells everyone that it is Canadian.

Joan

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

What's wrong with Canadian Forum?
Inanda or Canada Forum/Forum Canada - to be politically correct

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

Why not just get rid of the "in", and go with either Canadian Gardeners, or Canadian Gardening.
