What does everyone think of renaming our forum

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Canada House? It was suggested by Liz many moons ago and maybe now would be the time to implement it......... if all here like it AND Dave agrees to it. I mentioned it to Terry and it caught her eye.....

http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/500446/

I started this new thread just in case peeps aren't checking the other one (Banners). So far Liz, Chilko and myself are agreeable.

Well nobody kick me, but I sort of agree but disagree. It may be time to call it something other than Canadian Trading, but I'm not too fond of Canada House. Sounds like a Museum or some government building.

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

I like Canada House too. Although I haven't yet become a "regular", I would like to add my support to this name change. --Ginny

I can see how it could be taken that way echoes....I guess it first struck me as:

Quoting:
Onto Mitropoleos, where I see an oasis in the form of a Maple Leaf. Canada House. The patron house of Canadians at the Olympic Games.

I find many Canadians, when they first join, tend to stay in the Canadian Forum until they start feeling more comfortable with Dave's.
Quoting:
If you have other suggestions please state them
.......with a banner change this might be the best time.

well I agree with echoes Canada House almost sounds like we are in the goverment..
I like the idea of a banner, but would like to see a different name
Heck we could call oursevles Canadian Loonies, ( ha, ha)
banner could be a picture of maple leaves or Canadian Geese or the Canadian Loone,,
just my 2 cents worth

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Before we start calling our forum Canada House, I suggest you go to

http://www.canadahouse.com

To me Canada House is the building on Trafalgar Sq. in London England where one goes to register, get immigration info, read all the Cdn. mags and newspapers.

I think Canadian Forum would be better.

I think the Canadian Forum or Canadian Gardeners would be best if we're changing the name.

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

I like Canadian Forum better than Canada House because I agree with Ginny, Brenda and Wilma, it sounds too much like a government thing. I definitely like the idea of changing the name from Canadian Trading though, because so little of what we share here has to do with trading. Just my 2 cents.

I very much like the idea of renaming our forum and both Darrell and I suggested it in the Voting forum when they asked for Feedback about Dave's Garden. As Darrell mentioned our forum is so much more than just Canadian Trading, and I concurred and suggested something like The Canadian Connection. I am glad to hear that the Admin is listening to our requests.

I like that Darrell. I am sure there are lots of great names we can all come up with. Maybe then we could have a vote or something.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Yep a name change has been discussed many times over the past couple of years.......hopefully we can all agree on one and present it to Dave. Unfortunately I noticed in Joelle's other Banner thread (in Dave's forum) that Dave is only changing the banners in a few forums (he didn't comment on possibly changing the Canadian Trading forum name at all).

Riverview, NB(Zone 5b)

I like that idea Donna. Make a list of names and then post it like they do the "Voting Booth", and let people vote for the name they like best.

If we can't change the name of this Forum, then maybe he would give us another Forum. Either way, I would like to see something changed. We, meaning people here at DG who are in Canada, are much more than people who trade only. We have a lot to offer and I'd like to let people know about us. Canadian Trading is ok but, to me, when I saw other Forums named "Seed Trading", and "Plant Trading", I had to wonder what "Canadian Trading" really ment.

There is "Texas Gardening", "California Gardening", and so on. Not Texas Trading or California Trading. Me thinks it's like Canada is a "Trading Post"?

I have to tell you, I've seen some pretty impressive gardens in Canada and I've met some marvelous people who are in the "know" who are here in DG and Canada, "and", I wouldn't "Trade" them for the world.

Darrell

Campbell River, BC(Zone 8a)

I think the name should be a bit more general than Canadian Gardening or Gardens Canada since we talk about lots of things other than gardening.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Not voting here for obvious reasons, but if you're open to ideas, how about "Canadian Camaraderie"?

Donna, from south of the border ;)

I am not surprised that Dave is only changing "some" of the forums' banners, Pam.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

He did say he's doing it as somewhat of a hobby Donna........hopefully Canada will strike his fancy sooner or later. ;) Keep the suggestions coming for renaming our forum (hoping we will catch Dave's interest when things have slowed down a bit).

fort erie, ON(Zone 6a)

i like canuck gardeners!!

Blyth, ON(Zone 5b)

How about "Canadian Bloomers" (big grin)

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

LOL, I like that Ginny. Too cute. Yours is good too, Shawn. Thanks for your input Donna (Neighbor to the South) :D

C'mon everybody, give us some ideas!

Precipice Valley, BC(Zone 2a)

"Canadian Forum" really tells it all, although some of the other names are much more fun and descriptive! So long as we get rid of the tag of "Trading" I'm easy. Don't really like "House", though, now I've had time to think about it.. Sounds too stodgy and political.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

I like the idea of something simple and sweet like the Canadian Forum.
:) Donna

I like Canadian Gardeners and Canadian Forum.

Even Canadian Gardeners Forum is nice.

I think Canadian Trading is not at all what our forum is about now. Most of us do very little trading in this forum, and have made it into our own regional "Dave's Garden", with everything discussed from where to buy mini-greenhouses to plant identification, seed collecting, general discussion, and on and on.

My two cents.

Christine

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I think I like Canadian Gardeners,

I too like Canadian Gardeners
that is why I joined this group was to meet other Canadian Gardeners..
again my 2 cents worth, heck now I am up to 6 cents..
Wilma

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I like the name *Canadian Gardeners Forum* as well.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Its the 'trading' that I want to get rid of as well
Inanda

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

I'm definitely agreeing on a change too!!!!!!!!!!!!! E

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

I like "Canadian Bloomers". It indicates that it's Canadian and also that there's some fun going on. Has a nice ring to it too.

Castlegar, BC(Zone 6b)

I thought that was a cute name when Ginny suggested it too, Joan. My only reservation might be that there is a slight "feminine" connotation to it. I dunno, what do the rest of y'all think? If I am just being paranoid, then sure I agree that that would be a fun name.

When I came to Canada, one item was a pair of bloomers. Chammy leather, given to me by my darling Gran, so I wouldn'tget cold kidneys!!! They ended up as polish cloth for my very first 1960 bug.

Bloomers to me means elderlies under garments.
inanda lol

Precipice Valley, BC(Zone 2a)

That's what they mean to me, too! I'll go with either Canadian Gardening (preferred) or Canadian Gardening Forum, if that isn't too long.

Is anyone keeping score?? Has anyone approached Dave or Terry? Are we all whistling in the wind??

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Let's give it till the end of the month (for suggestions) and will then post them for a vote ....that way Lynn (jagonjune) and some of the other occasional visitors will have a chance of adding their input too.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

How about "Canada Blooms"? Did anyone go to their show this year? (In Toronto)

Joan

I like Canada Blooms too. I think Lilypon is right - we should take everyone's suggestions, and vote on them. No, didn't make it to Canada Blooms this year unfortunately.

North Vancouver, B.C, Canada

I like the idea of a change also but I would like to see all the names put to a vote. How about something totally different like "Canuck Flora & Fauna" or is that too silly!!!
