Our large backyard!

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

As I sat back and looked out the big window and see the backyard how everything's so green and crispy when sun's out.
That's where I spend most of my time in kitchen also where my computer is, too. I have many plants and large yard, still not know where to plant! lol..

We have large backyard since our old mobile home trailer have been pulled and sold it 4 weeks ago, finally!. Lots of space and there's several bananas, crepe mythes..sp? and cannas in ground that need to be move. It was around trailer that time. Now they are middle of yard that I need to move and DH can ride his tractor cutting the grass around without stop and pull back and going, you know. I am going to plant bananas all together in one then I can move them around later. We have been burned and removed lots of pine tree stumps during 5 years. We still need lots of dirts that need to fill around house then I can start plant around house. For now, I am going to plant some in yard in group.. around oak tree.. etc.. Even I planted several baby oak trees (fast grow, not live oak) around yard and in front yard for some shade in future. Of course not too close to the house due hurricane, bad weather. I dont trust trees! lol

MiniSchnuz, why don't you turn part of the space where your former MH sat into a perennial bed? :) That way you could build around the existing plantings... ;)

You've got a beautiful place there! I love the chicken tractor. I've read about building them, that is what I'd have to use if we ever raised any because we've got so many coons and coyotes around here, not to mention my 5 dogs.

I know for me, it is more difficult starting from scratch with such a large area, the problem being not knowing where to start! Have fun planting!!

Ticker ~ I would do that but there's full of thick pine tree roots all over on that area. We are getting some dirts to fill and level the yard then we will start plant and make group ..

Thank you. We got many coons, foxes, coytoes, even snakes. I move them nearby at nights and move them away in the morning. We have 4 dogs. Our dog Lab Teddy used to chase after chickens. He get older and fixed.. now he's calm and lazy to run after. We keep Teddy outside at nights. He would hear and bark and chase after any who come to our yard even deers. He would wake us up at nights if DH hear him bark. We have no plm if we keep them in the cage or pen also put small holes fence around for chicks. They are bantams.. small chick that could get out of chicken poutry fence. :o( No more bantams for me.. we are having Barred Rocks and Buff Rock chicks. That large yard, it's hard to decide where to plant.. I will start slowly and take my time to do the project next to next.. First we need to get my tiller work and put new motor in.

What a beautiful piece of land that is with all the trees, but still a grassy expanse to enjoy (and fill).
