I FINALLY got the bobcat and demolished my back yard!! I was on a list for one and the guy the night before rolled it. Another place charged twice as much for delivery. I have had the worst luck trying to get the darn machine. Yesterday I got it!
What did you do yesterday?
Go woman!! Did you drive it?
Hey! You sneaked in there didn't you? LOL I was supposed to get the mini bobcat and that is the one that kept having hang ups. I finally just went ahead and got the walk behind. I did most of it. I let my hubby use it for a few minutes. LOL I had to feed the baby.
You really did some earth moving :) Great job !!
Move the earth, I certainly did! I really should get a job in construction. I love all these big tools.
Here you go NC, this pic is for you. It is just a walk behind but it is a pretty mighty machine. It sure beat the heck out of doing it with a shovel and tiller. LOL
I still have to till it all up and put down grass. Anybody wanna take up a collection for grass seed and sod? :)
Wow! I didn't do anything yesterday esp. sitting by the computer all day ! lol It was rainy day! Forget about chores! lol
LOL Mini! It is raining here today so I guess I will have to clean and do laundry. Sigh.
I have a 4 or 5 pound bag of Winter Rye here I'm not going to use! I was told not to use it in my zone b/c it won't go away. It was supposed to be for my veggie cover crop.
You want it? Let me know and I will send it to you! It's just sitting in my fridge waiting for a home.
Have fun on that baby - I would LOVE to do that!!!!
Nicole
Wow. Where did the pool go to?
Nicole, you are such a riot! You just happen to have 5 pounds of grass seed in the fridge? LOL I wonder if the postage would be awful? I can buy grass locally but thought I might take it off your hands if you don't need it. I can't find any info though unless it is for pastures or an annual? Help, I am lawn challenged.
Carla, the type of pool we have is storable. Believe it or not, we put it up and take it down each year.
I thought it was a annual but from what I've been told it's not! I think it's a cool weather grass though! I will look your address up and get it out to you!!! If you don't use it just keep it in your fridge - maybe we can find someone that wants it! LOL!!
I DON'T HAVE ROOM IN MY FRIDGE! LOL I have seriously questioned buying that side by side. I really am not sure there is enough room in it. You really don't need to mail me your grass seed. If you really want to get it out of there, let me know what you paid for it. :)
I won't force you to take it promise! I can probably find a place to grow it somewhere. You don't have to pay me for it though! It is just sitting there!
I bet you don't have room in your fridge! hee hee.. Mine is bad enough and I only have one youngin!
You are probably right though about postage and shipping on the seed - it's not like it's some rare seed or something! It might just take over your yard too! hee hee.. I won't send it unless you tell me to! I don't mind a bit though!!!!
Nicole
Here has been rainy almost all day yesterday that I could not do anything do something outside so, I decide to clean up around here doing throw it away all the junk mails and check on emails.
Today is so beautiful so now I can do something outside. Yay!
I've always wanted to rent a bobcat just to play with..... what fun that must have been....... I'm sure everyday on one gets a little old but for a day or a week - fun for me.....
Oh my, I'd never heard of a walk behind bobcat. What a cool little machine, I could make use of one of those! Looks like you did a great job!
Wow it looks great. No wonder you where so tired last night. I can just picture how it will all look later this summer. Where do you plan to put the playset and pool now?
This was the second time I had used one of those walk behinds. My next door neighbor is a construction mgr for building new homes. Last summer he brought home a "dingo" for both of us to use. It was love at first sight. LOL
Yesterday I got out there and got to tilling it all up. I stopped to a wee rest and scoop some of the excess dirt off the tiller. Then the dang engine locked up and no matter what we did, we couldn't get it to turn over. I cannot really complain. I think I paid about $250 for it almost 10 years ago. I ran up to Lowe's and shelled out double that and finally got myself a rear tine Troybuilt. Hubby convinced me it was worth the extra money and told me he knew I would put it to good use. LOL
I ordered my sod. It will be here some time today. It was cheaper than the tiller. ROTF Anybody wanna come help me? The soil is all nice and crumbly now and pretty darn level. I will probably run it over a few more times just to make sure. There were a couple of wet spots from the light rains. I don't want to run the risk of not having the sod adhere well.
I've always wanted to rent a bobcat just to play with
LOL, my sister wants a Ditch Witch to play with...
Badseed - what kind of Troybuilt did you buy? I got the Pony, I think (I'm not home to look at it) and I HATE it!!!! I guess it's too light duty for our clay soil, it just runs way. The first time I used it, I didn't let go quick enough and it almost jerked me down. I'm thinking it was around $400.00 or so. I don't know how I'm going to till up the large bed I just cleared of sod, will probably have to rent a heavy duty tiller. Mine works great if you are working in already broken up soil, but forget it on new ground : (
That area is going to look so nice with the new sod! Just be careful cause that stuff is pretty heavy!
Thank you Sadie. I bought the 6HP Super Bronco. It was actually on sale and less than the ones at Sears. Sears had their 6.5 HP cheaper than the 6HP and of course it was not in stock. I did have a bit of a problem adjusting the depth stake. That puppy can sure take off on ya if it isn't in right. LOL It is going to take some getting used to going from a front tine to a rear tine.
I should have gotten the bigger one...hindsight and all that...
I think part of my problem was that I was used to a front tine too.
I keep going back and looking at that little bob cat...LOL, I may just have to find something that needs doing just so I can go rent one : )
So can we see the grass now??? Please?
And the front yard.
Belive it or not, the estimate for amount of sod was nearly perfect! I have about 15 pieces left. I still have a few zig zag areas to fill in the back yard and a few small pieces to trim off in the front yard.
I ordered 200 yards of sod. A friend came and helped with the first pallet which was probably about 50 yds since I had four pallets. It was delivered about quarter after 1pm on Friday. My friend showed up about 2pm. and had to leave at 3:15. With breaks, I ended up working until 8:30 pm on Friday. Then I worked from 9am until about 4pm on Saturday-also with breaks and no help from the 2 big kids because they have lives. LOL
