I loved seeing the banana buds.
Canadian RU photos
We are back in the jaw! :'( Jen and I miss Victoria terribly already!!!! Linda and Cheryl thank you soooooooooooooo very much for your wonderful hospitality..... I feel horrible that we didn't get to say it in person. Ginny thank you for being such a wonderful tour guide. Heatherbelle we had a lovely evening at your house...both you and your husband are treasures. Liz I really appreciated your knowledge and help at the greenhouses. Thank you everyone for a fantastic experience and plants that I will treasure!
Lynn you are one in a million and it was a gift of a lifetime........ (& your prawns will never be forgotten).
Well for those that were wondering I did get all my plants aboard (did more fancy packing AND bought another carry on ;) Took over the family room at the airport and did some serious shifting (also had to trim a few Brugs but now I have some new cuttings to start :)
Great pictures everyone, glad you had a great time! Here in this part of Sk, we are finally rid of most of the snow, yesterday we even had April showers for the May flowers.
Pat
Great pictures,
and Pam sure looks like you got yourself some great plants.
G'Morning all. Pam, I can't believe you posted last night. I lost my bet!!! Ingrid and Linda figured you would, and I said. No way, she'll be too tired and it will be too late. So we bet, and obviously, I lost. You never cease to amaze me! So how did you manage. When we left you at the airport, we were concerned when they told Ingrid and Jennifer that you couldn't board the way you were packed. So did you buy that extra suitcase you were looking at? We were hoping it worked out ok.
We had a lovely time at a retreat centre last night were we attended a meditation session that Cheryl hosted. It was a truly great experience. Got back home and enjoyed a couple glasses of wine and supper and as always, great conversation.
Ingrid and I were up burning the midnight oil last night packing our plants too. We had some desperate moments, but finally got everything squared away. Whew!! Of course we are still sitting in Linda and Cheryl's kitchen too. Cross your fingers for us. We will be leaving right away. Ingrid has to brave a ferry trip and then board her plane home in Vancouver. I leave at 9:10 am from here.
Sandy, your photos were wonderful. I have to check out my pictures when I finally get settled at home. But yours were so clear! Great close-ups too. Linda was wonderfuil enough to burn CD's for us and combine Ingrid's, mine and her own on one disk, so that will be so much easier to view.
So signing off for the last time in Victoria. I am happy to be going home. Miss my DH ahd furbabies. Only a few hours away now.
:Donna
Wow, those plants all look great Pam. You must have packed them extremely well. I didn't think you'd have any leaves on the brug especially by the time you got home because they seem to break off so easily. And you've got blooms.....are all those plants from Victoria? Where did you get the phalaenopsis?
My first pictures from Butterfly Gardens were foggy but once the camera was acclimatised it was fine....and I did take 82. LOL I loved it there. Here's another one of Dawn and Donna.
Wonderful pictures, Sandy, they came out great (or grrreat, as Dawn pointed out ! Do you think I have an accent or something ! LOL.)
I think our 1st RU has been a roaring success and has left everyone with warm fuzzies.
Heather
LOL Just a bit Heather and it's lovely.
Yes, I agree, it was a great success. I can't believe how fast it went by.
Sandy
Hi Sandy :)
I purchased the Phal at a smaller Gardenworks there (Inanda could prolly tell you which one for sure). It's one of the new ones that I've seen the Americans just starting to post pictures of (was shocked it was available at a garden centre and not just at a specialty supplier).
I stripped the leaves off the Brugs at Linda's and Cheryl's house (that's how Liz does it when she sends them by mail). The leaves will grow back quickly.
I missed mentioning above how grateful I also am to Ingrid (Paradise) for doing my nails. Ü
Hope all went well with your trip ladies and am looking forward to reading your return home posts! Ü
My father came over today and picked up the Epi leaves....he was tickled pink and very grateful and wanted me to express his thanks to echoes, Inanda and Linda!!! We also heard that the tests so far showed no signs of cancer but he is going to be sent to a specialist as well.
Sandy, your butterfly pics are awesome!! They're very clear, and so interesting.
I think my favourites in this thread are the two pics of Pam packing up her plants - the first one with Linda's intro about it being 1 in the morning, and the second one in the family room of the airport (!) LOLOL ! Boy, do I identify with that. Clearly your efforts paid off, Pam - the plants look great.
Great thread!!
Hi, Everyone!!
I made it home and its past 12 midnight here.....
They were calling for heavy winds and hurricane activity in Victoria so My dear Linda/Cheryl - got me to the airport to catch a plane instead of the ship to Vancouver which from there I would catch my flight directly home. Or, I might of been still been battling major waves and whatever else out there!
So, my bed is waiting for me and I'am totally bushed.Up since 5:30am.
Till tomorrow, Ingrid
Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound Ingrid. Probably a good idea to go by plane rather than ferry all right. They often cancel sailings in that kind of weather. Looking forward to seeing some of your pictures. I know you took a ton of them. LOL
Sandy
Hey! I sneaked in to view all the pictures...and meet all you great people. It looks like ya'll had a GREAT time. How about posting a link to this thread over in the Round Up Pictures Forum....lots of us in the rest of the world would be very interested in meeting all of you ....and seeing the great pictures!! Jo
Ahh, there's no place like home, eh? Yep, I made it to, but I'm not as organized as the others, posting on the day of arrival. By the time I unpacked and got settled, I was beat and this old gal was in bed and fast asleep by 9:15 pm. Had an excellent trip home, plane trip from Victoria to Kelowna was only 40 minutes and my drive to Grand Forks where I was able to meet up with my dh for lunch and a few snuggles was accomplished in a little over 2 hours. 3/4 of an hour from there and I was home again in Castlegar by 2:30. On inspection, all my plants inside and out, fended just fine. DH was a fine babysitter. and he installed a couple heaters in my greenhouse for me and got my waterfall to the pond operational too while I was gone. Gotta go away more often! LOL
Fortunately after 18 hours of being tucked away in my luggage, when I unpacked the 12 plants I brought back from Victoria, I had only one casualty. A Passion Flower branch had broken, but the main plant looks fine and I have the piece that broke in water to hopefully root again. All and all, not too bad.
I know I've said it before, but again, I must thank Linda and Cheryl again so much for their wonderful hospitality and for putting up with Ingrid and I and our giggling. I love you both, you're wonderful!
Ingrid, you made my trip so much fun. You are a terrific person and so much fun. I hope you never change and that we have a chance to meet again.
I am posting the probably the last shots of day 5 of the RU, and this is one of "The Three Muskateers" at 7:00 am in the morning on our way to the airport. Can you see the look of complete contentment and relief, that the last two stragglers are finally on their way!!! LOL Just kidding Linda. We had some great laughs and good times, didn't we?
Me with our gracious hosts, Cheryl and Linda and dear Kayla
Love you guys!
Honest...Ingrid and I didn't sip any wine the night before as we packed plants, her hands must have been shaking just thinking of the Gale Force Winds that were forecast that morning fo rher ferry ride! :D

Fabulous pics, youse guys! I don't wish to admit that I have sent mine into the ethers of my computer, or onto another picture manager. I shall retireve! In the interim, please let me try to convey my gratitude to our hosts. Words cannot describe the warmth, the kindness, the patience. Not only was it so much fun but it was so comfortable. Thank you so much, Linda and Cheryl with a big hug and kiss for Kayla the bear. To Heatherbelle and her DH, how gracious you were to open your home for dinner to a band of roving hortiphiles! We enjoyed it so much. For all the companion plantaholics, it was a true pleasure meeting you and I enjoyed your company even more than the plants (which IS saying something). I can't wait to see you all again and chat with you now and then. May you all travel successfully gathering rosebuds, grapevines, seeds, twigs and cuttings while ye may.
Love and Laughter
Dawn
I popsted to the CRU Last part upon my return. Just wanted to say on this forum thanks to all once again for a memorable weekend.
I filled my tote yesterday for a short expedition and every time I looked at it,
I was reminded of all your smiling faces.
Keep up the correspondance and talk soon.
Solomon.
Please somebody, who took great pics, post them in the RoundUp Picture Forum like RoadRunner suggested!!
Would some computer whiz out there with the time and expertise like to gather up all the round up posts, photos, comments etc., and put them on one site? At present, I am finding snippets all over the place. Would be great on one site then we can print and compile a memory book. This may also be useful for the next Round Up. Solomon.
Paradise where are your pics??? :) Glad to see you made it safe and sound!!! Ü Tho really, really exhausted I bet!
Ingrid had to work today, so she's probably pooped. Her photos are on that disk that Linda burned for us, Pam. She had some good ones too. I am sure she'll post some of her favourites when she has time. I too, am glad to hear she made it home ok. The saving grace was that it was a non-stop flight from Vancouver, but still it was a 41/2 hour flight. She was sure happy that she got a flight from Victoria to Vancouver rather than having to carry her 30 lb bag full of plants plus a rather large suitcase to the Ferry and off again to the Airport. Especially when they were forecasting heavy winds that morning. It wouldn't have been a pleasant trip.
Thanks Donna I know I have her pics.....I'm just looking forward to her posting them here. :)
Can someone put the names to the faces in the group photo please. Thanks
I haven't been around much lately, MOnday & Tuesday resting, yesterday in Vancouver for appt.s, today to Shawnigan Lake for more appt.s then fri-Sunday at Comox with the folks. I will be online occas, and will try to post and catch up soon. Next week I'll be around.
Donna, nice to see your photos,
I'm glad eveyone and their plants make it home safe and sound.
Sunrize, did you get a wrong number on your cell yesterday afternoon? Cheryl called looking for her daughter Alyssa, and thinks she got you! LOL
Shannon, email coming with numbers to contact for a visit.

I have alot of pictures..Between today and tomorrow I will post them from the disc..Just have to figure how to transfer them here to post.
Wishing you all a Great day!! Raining here. I must get back to work.
Ingrid
MG99: Please get in touch when you are over in Van! I can always do a 15 min office visit. Also, if you ever want to come foot passenger=, I'd be happy to transport.
YES--I did get a call in the afternoon from the Island--wrong number for Alyssa and I asked if she was a gardener--because I thought there might be a number mix up. Paradise denied having such an obsession, wisely for the cell phone bill (but if it were mine, it would be picked up by the company). Rats, missed another sad goodbye.
I started to post pictures in the Round-Up pictures forum from the RU..So, girls anyone that has some come and share . roadrunner suggested to introduce ourselves to the rest of the world....LOOK-OUT!!!
Are they ready for us...
Ingrid
