USPS inconsistent ...

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Anybody else have this issue -

On four other occasions, I've ordered things & they've been delivered USPS . All were dropped by my front door since I'm not usually home when the mailman does his deliveries.

Today, I find a post-card in my box "that they had a package for me, and they're holding it at the office - pick it up after 9 tomorrow" - no "signature required", just looks like they decided this one was worth keeping.

What the?!?!

It depends on the type of service, I suspect the one you have to pick up requires a signature confirmation.

It doesn't say the box requires a signature, or I'd understand - looks like the PO just decided to keep this one.

Strange, since UPS left a box at my door this afternoon, with no problems.
Usually, it's UPS that won't drop a box.

It also depends on whether or not your regular mailman was on, or a sub. If I get a substitute, I get the box at the door. My regular mailman won't get out of his truck and walk to the door. They are not required to.

Maybe that's what it was - fill-in mailman didn't want to walk to my apartment door, so they left the card instead of the effort of walking to my door.

Uh huh.. that makes sense.

Around holidays is when I get things like this...subs not familiar with the normal guy's routine.

My normal carrier brings my packages to our business even if they are addressed to our home. Our business is not on her route, but she cuts through and hands them to me on her way to another section that she delivers to.

I either get a note, or the package left on the doorstep if a sub is running.

We've been through a half-dozen mail carriers in five years and I guess I've been incredibly lucky - all of them bring my packages to the door - most of the time they even bring them around back to put the box under the carport so it's out of the weather and not left in plain view...

My mailman had been setting the boxes on the ground next to our mailbox that were to big to put in it.
The problem with that is we live in the country and the mailbox is a 1/2 mile from our house. You can't see the road from our house. We sit at the bottom of a small hill.

Our property is located close to the bad bad part of town. The majority of people driving down our road are either dumping garbage, or dealing drugs. You can't believe the things that we find.

Never have my bank checks sent to my home. I pick them up at the bank. For this reason. Take my kids to school in the AM. Would NEVER let them sit up there next to that road. They can take the bus home because they walk right down the lane home.

After many notes and talking to the PO, he now either takes it down the lane to our house or leaves it at the PO for me to pick up.

You might be able to talk to your PO. They can put a note in your info and it will give them directions on what to do with packages. That way it you have a sub they will know what to do.

It depends on your carrier sometimes.
I had it happen a couple of times when it wasn't my regular carrier.
That temp carrier no longer delivers here as it was alleged that she'd fill the notes before even leaving the p.o. so she didn't have to load and then get out and walk the pkgs up.

I was expecting a package a few weeks ago. We have rural route delivery so my mailbox is on a different road than where I live. The card I got on a Saturday said "I don't know where the house is". When I called the PO on Monday they said it was a sub. I would have thought they would give him/her directions before leaving the PO.
