Hi everybody,
I was just thinking about how eager I am to be outside and digging in the dirt right now. It sure gets frustrating when I can't because of the weather or my schedule or whatever. I wondered if other people had spring fever as bad as I do. I have also noticed some unhappy posts here in the garden lately. Maybe this time of year is getting to all of us and making tempers a little shorter than usual. I know there have been some troubles. I don't want to bring them up. I just want everybody to be out in the garden and happy. I know life isn't always like that, but I can hope.
Happy Spring (Fever!) to all my gardening friends.
Sylvia
Spring fever?
I'm doing a complete re-do of our master bedroom today to surprise DH when he gets home tonight (total rearranging the room, then adding a new comforter, a few new pieces of furniture, new lamps, etc.) I would MUCH rather be outside, but (whine, whimper) it's cool (can't say it's really cold), and overcast, and the ground is soggy from rain the last few days. I daresay I'd be spending less money if I were out playing in the dirt, lolol.
I'm sitting here at work (letting my student teacher run the show!) and I'm just dying to get out and garden. The weather here is absolute perfection but I can't enjoy it. I have 60 more plants to put in the ground and the drip system to set up. *sigh* I'd love for all you cold weather folks to come to my house to help me out!
Oh, Terry, you may have spent too much but aren't you glad you did the room? I love the "after glow" of redecorating. My house looks like a tornando went through it because I'm spending every spare moment in my courtyard.
Maaybe I shouldn't have anyone come over to help garden since my house is too messy for visitors!
Sending warm breezes to all my gardening friends!
Jen
Total spring fever here! My house is messy, I'm sitting here on the bed pouring over my garden mags staring at a pile of clean clothes to be folded!
Today I had 10 tons of rip rap and 15 tons of topsoil delivered for the berm I'm building and I want to be outside NOW getting dirty. But its cold and rainy here right now - I don't want to complain too much though because over the past 3 days of drizzle my bulbs are going crazy!!
I did get to plant a new tree 2 days ago (a Golden Chain Tree) and I've got annuals germinating in the dining room, so that will have to hold me for now :-) -Christie
Gonna make you all jealous of me. :)
It has been in the mid 70's to even the lower 80's over the last couple of days with gorgeous sunshine.
Today it is right around 70 with a nice breeze blowing and not a cloud in the sky.
Yes, I have been digging. Yes, I have been planting. Yes, I am rubbin' your nose in the dirt (just a little).
You can remind me that south GA is not that great when the two weeks of Spring are over and our Summer sauna-swelter begins.
Time to go out and do some more.
The dogwoods and azaleas are in full bloom. What a great place to live.
Good Gardening!
Aubrey
Hey, you can rub any part of me you want in the dirt! I miss my dirt after our cold nasty winter. I'm glad we can all laugh together about how the weather is always better on the other side of the fence. Sometimes it is hard to stay lighthearted when life gets you down. The garden outside and here at Dave's helps.
I spent the afternoon out in my GH and it was wonderful!! I have spring fever so bad that im out walking all over the snow to help it melt faster!!! :)
I think we have made it and spring is going to show up!!!
I just keep chanting "melt, melt melt" whenever I look at my main garden and at all the areas where I'm going to create new beds. My early seedlings are all in a corner of a nice heated greenhouse I'm lucky enough to use. The dianthus are getting a little spindly and I feel kind of foolish for starting them so early, but it's the only thing keeping me sane with the 3-4 feet of crusty snow still on everything outside! Ack!
Coudy and a bit cooler here today. A chance of thunderstorms. Will be probably 72 or so for a high.
Sunny and much warmer for tomorrow. Forecast high 84.
Sounds like time to put on some shorts, an old t-shirt and make some lemonade. =)
I have a date with the neighbor's 6, 4, and 2 year old children to plant sunflowers, peas, beans, corn, squash, cucumbers and such in the garden this afternoon after school. My three (13, 11, and 7) are going to join in.
They are having fun and I am getting some work done.
I love the child labor. =)
I hope it doesn't rain. (At least not until we are done planting. I wouldn't want to disappoint the children.)
Good Gardening!
Aubrey
Enjoy your sunshine Aubrey, I'll pray for you every time I see the nasty spring storms with tornados terrorizing the south.
Wanna get outside and started so bad I've caved into ordering more stuff online. Including a 10x12 hoop house. Watch them take 5-7 weeks before they ship and then I'll be in the heat of springING forth.
Gray, wet and the east winds blowing off 34deg lake Michigan just won't let the warmth in. I'm only asking for upper 40s/low 50s. :( Granted, I don't have mounds of snow piled up like the poor folks in MA but where I thought we must be thawing out and I could at least start transplanting some trees and bushes... Nope. Some areas maybe thawed 1 -2 inches down and theres where winter starts.
DW wants her guest room and the front picture window back as well. Too bad I discovered brugs in Nov and have been collecting, feeding and watering like I was outside. Them rascals respond well to groceries. Much to my DW's dismay.
