Dave, you need support

Tilton, NH(Zone 4a)

Hi, Dave and Trish
Dave, just saw below where you posted that you will only put into this site what you get out of it. Well, since I adore this site, and I know many others do too, I am posting publically to say - I support you. Now, I am not very eloquent, and hopefully others will post who are, but I think you have done an absolutely bang-up job with this site. Furthermore, you aren't done with it! You are constantly doing little things to make it better, often at the behest of members. I am at home all the time - I can't leave my house. I use this and one other site as a way to meet people, and most of the people are wonderful. But here, like in any other community, there are malcontents. Please don't let them get under your skin. There are more of us who like you and support you (I believe) then there are of them.

So keep doing what you do, and if you need to redirect a few threads, you just remember what this site really means; a place for gardening diversity that is impossible in any other medium.

Thank you,
Cedar

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Cedar, this is me standing up and clapping (((((())))))) with you. In my opinion, Dave and Trish deserve a standing ovation on a daily basis for providing this FREE site for thousands of us gardeners to GARDEN. Unfortunately human nature sometimes causes us to only speak up to complain or criticize, and we fail to exert the effort it takes to express appreciation.

They say it takes 10 compliments to negate a criticism. Do you suppose we'll get enough others to join in and wipe the slate clean?????

Santa Barbara, CA

Hip! Hip! Hooray! and Bravo! Well done, Dave and Trish! This is the friendliest site I have ever visited on the web. Far more that just a garden site but also catering to the spirit of those intereacting -- more like family.

Here's another round of applause!!!! I work with a company who pays big money to a webmaster. I know very well what you are worth and how great of a service you are providing to us. I so enjoy reading and learning from everyone and am truely thankful that you provide this opportunity. THANKS!!!!!!! Please don't let a few bad apples ruin the pie (or whatever that saying is supposed to be).

I second and third all of the things that the others have written. You, Trish and Dave are the greatest, the salt of the earth, and all of the other things that are always said about really wonderful people. I feel sure that there are many people out there that feel the same way. Thank you again for all that you do.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

I want to give a standing ovation to Dave and Trish also.I have been a member for a long time but until recently hadn't been around much I can't believe the changes that have been made. Its wonderful and I love it and you both deserve a pat on the back for all your hard work. Now I can't stay away I am in and out several times a day. Keep up the good work .

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Dave and Trish, I too would like to join everyone in applauding your tiredless efforts on all of our behalfs.
I can imagine the hours upon hours you spend updating, refining, and general maintenance involved with this site.
It upsets me to think that someone may have been unkind to you, the site and or the members. I dont know what all is going on, maybe that is more frightening than knowing,
This site has been the best thing that I have run across, the people have been wonderful, generous, helful and such a fun loving loving group. I would be devastated if the existence of this site is jeopardized.

Please keep up the good work, we all appreciate it - on a daily basis.

Thanks for everything Dave and Trish, I have certainly appreciated all your efforts.

Dave,
I guess I missed the post Linnea mentioned... and I am not one to throw compliments around (even when well deserved!). Let me just say my housemate says you should start a DavesGarden Anonymous for people like me who are addicted to the wonderful site you have created.

Dave and Trish , I had thought maybe in the future you might call upon us to help as it got larger. Please count me in to volenteer. I could do something several times a week. I'm here anyway. I type fast, I can upload. I seem to have a basic grasp on how most computer programs work. Hope you will not hesitate to ask me to help. I would like to continue the wonderful site and interacting with its wonderful members. I thinks it a special place. Until of late its been a shangri la of sorts. But I guess reality has to come sooner or later . As always, I thankyou for all you have done to make it so wonderful.Count me in!

Dave and Trish,

Although I am a newcomer to DG, I have to tell you how much I have enjoyed it. It is the first thing I do in the morning, and the last thing I check at night. I have to get up at 4am some mornings to go to work, and that is when I catch up on the forums. This is a wonderful place for both new, and experienced/expert gardeners. Thank you for providing this for me, and all of us! If there is anything I can help out with, please dont hesitate to ask.

Austin, TX(Zone 8a)

This is a wonderful place. I tried joining a few other gardening groups on the internet last year and quickly fled since they were not welcoming or helpful to a newbie. The information available here is amazing, the folks are friendly and I've never found a site anywhere near as good as this one, no matter what the topic (gardening, computers, what-have-you.)

That Dave can offer this for free just amazes me. If my company website got this many hits, I'd be scrambling for funds to pay for the bandwidth and time to manage the site. I don't know what his secret is, but I should probably talk my boss into hiring Dave as a consultant :)

What about selling T-Shirts and coffee mugs to help fund the site? I'd LOVE to have a Dave's garden T-Shirt and coffee mug...

AnnMarie

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'd love to have a t-shirt too!!!! I just want to add my thanks with all the others. This is home. I must check in 50 times a day!! I can't get anything done when I'm in the house, for reading all the great info, funny things, looking at the pictures. This is just home. Thank you.

Just adding my thanks to Dave and Trish for having this site. Trish took the time to help this computer challenged person to do some tasks; I so appreciated that. There are always some people who cannot be satisfied and go with the idea that misery loves company. If they want to contact me, I will put them in touch with some of my family, who could appreciate that kind of company lol-sad, but true. I have almost no computer skills, but if I can help in any way-used to be a psycho-therapist and I have time to spare, just let me know. I like the t-shirt idea, just make sure that you have a very large size for me or large totoe bags. I tell everyone about this site, the people at the P.O., health food store etc. thanks Marcia

Being a newcomer myself, and the instigator of a few unsavory exchanges on the nature of religion on this site, I feel like I owe you a HUGE thank you for letting your members decide for themselves when a line has been crossed.
It's sometimes incredibly difficult to judge what will offend another, or will instigate a passionate/violent response. You deal with these situations beautifully. You must have a sixth sense about people, because you always seem to know when to interject, and exactly what to say to chill things out.

I guess I just wanted to say thanks so much for the site, and for all the care and love you so obviously put into it. I couldn't imagine a morning coffee without checking it out. This is an incredible site - definitely run for the happy and fruitful discussion of all. You do a kick-bum job. I've never seen anything like it.

Thank you and thank you and thank you again,
Shelly

Dave & Trish, great job ! You can tell by the way that Daves Garden Has and Is growing that there are a lot of us that think you are doing a Great Job! Thanks for a great place to talk gardening and a super place to make new friends. Keith

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

I hope all of these comments will uplift you and give your day a positive boost. This site is great and I appreciate having such a friendly place to come to. You guys feel like family. Unfortunately not all family members behave themselves all the time. My prayers are with you as you go through this hard time. Life is lumpy sometimes. Hang in there.

(Zone 4b)

Hey Prain, the Tidal Bore is most often referred to now as the "Total Bore", now that the causeway has destroyed any resemblance the Petitcodiac once had to a river.

People all over the world love this site. It's a strange and beautiful and mysterious place, full of magic and the sound of children laughing. Okay. Maybe I'm exaggerating. But it is something special, and if the sound of children laughing could travel through electroland, I'm sure the children's laughter would find a home here.

Now that I'm making absolutely NO sense, it's time for morning coffee.

Smiling proud!
Shelly

Thanks so much Dave and Trish for all you do :)

Dave & Trish
I've belonged to your site for a couple of months now and I want you to know that I have gleaned more helpful information by browsing and reading the threads than any other place I've been on the net. The broad range of topics and the collective experience of all the gardeners who participate at Dave's Garden contribute to a successful and interesting on-line community. Don't let a bad apple spoil the barrel, there are far more of us good apples out here who appreciate all you do!
Many thanks, Robyn

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Dave and Trish
I am also fairly new to this sight also and cannot believe how much I have learned from fellow gardeners just from reading all the threads even though I have gardened myself for many years.See, you can teach an old dog new tricks.LOL
There are not many people that would put the amount of time and effort into something to bring happiness and enjoyment to so many people that they don't even know. This is such a friendly site that just reading everyones threads brings you a feeling of belonging. It is really hard to explain how a site can bring kinship to so many people but this one has.Thank you sooooo much for your unselfishness and generousity of your time and lives to bring happiness to so many people. I applaud you.
Hey everyone, Maybe if we all stand up at 2PM and applaude for Dave and Trish they will hear it LOL

High Springs, FL(Zone 8b)

Ditto to all the above! And yes, it's HARD to ignore obnoxious people that want to get in your face with their own warped agendas - but it's not impossible!

Please add my (little) voice to those in praise of Dave's Garden and the wonderful people that provide it for us!

Cobleskill, NY(Zone 5a)

I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I have been on this site for a long time "lurking". I never post but check in a couple times a day. When I talk about the things I learn here, I talk about you all as my "friends". I would like to thank Trish and Dave for this really great site.

Lorain, OH(Zone 5b)

I posted this elsewhere, but I wanted to put it her too. From time to time ALL gardens need to be weeded. I support you in any steps that you feel you need to take to maintain a user friendly site. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I have been on several garden sites, and this is without question, the last one I will ever visit. Everything is right at your fingertips and the people on this site are fabulous. Just the kind of people I want for my friends. Dave and Trish, don't ever get discouraged, you have a wonderful following of first rate individuals who appreciate what you have created and continue to maintain and we aren't likely to forget anytime soon, as most of us seem to visit here almost every day. Thanks you two and everyone else for being the nice folks that you are!!!!!!!!!

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Dave and Trish, I just recently joined this site, and the quality of people, and
format is unsurpassed! Don't let anyone beat down the Christian Soldiers that you are. God is blessing you both, and the rest of us with this site, and my prayers will always include you and all my new friends.
