Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Taz, are the iris that are blooming for you the tall bearded? Mine are not anywhere close to a bloom yet... not even a hint so far... I was curious if mine are late... I had a miniature iris bloom, but only one out of several (that I got from ebay) bloomed.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Tazzy - I'm always amazed at how much earlier your stuff goes than mine up here in KC....we're not that much further North. Then again Moby & Wanda are about as far I'd guess and are fairly close to me in blooms (within a week or so I'd say).

I noticed some buds on a daylily yesterday that I'd overwintered in pots and have had sitting outside on the protected patio for the last 2-3 weeks. :-o

Sand Springs, OK(Zone 7a)

I have buds on tall beared but i would say 10 days in future .
now i have IB . SDB , and a MTB that opened to day .Apricot Jewels

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i'm in zone 6a here in massachusetts and my plants are just coming up. the iris leaves are about 1" out of the ground. of course i'm a bit further north than you folks. you must have shorter cold winters and i have long cold winters. :-) i'm excited about the pretty crocus that are blooming :-)

kareoke, that's a lot of daylilies you have there. are they your primary addiction?

boojum and fsr, yes franklin is a cutie pie. he is definitely my baby. yesterday he was so dang happy to be outside. he went wandering off into the woods out back of the house. probably looking for the woodchuck he met last week. anyhow....when the woods are brown, he can see for a long ways and goes out into them, when they green out, the scardy cat can't see his momma and he stays in the yard. LOL fine with me. yesterday, i see him wandering a bit off and i do the "come" thing. franklin looked up at me and then did the "selective hearing thing".
the first time he went wandering off into the woods i was unaware of it and he scared the beejeezes out of me. i had to go inside, get on long pants and clamber through the woods looking for him. when i found him, 3 houses over, he was sniffing away, looked up at me like "oh hi momma, what's up? this here really smells quite interesting. hmmm i wonder who made this pee speciman? huh? oh, why didn't i come when you called? well i heard you, so i figured that you were ok and i'd just kept exploring this here new territory. ya know, i have to be prepared for anything, protecting my momma in the millenium is a big job.

later.......franklin and my momma debi z

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

I have just purchased some "Arabian Red" orientals from e-bay. Anybody ever grow these? Are they truly red or more maroon? Smell pretty?
Thanks for any info,
Gail

p.s.Iowaron, that Leslie Woodruff is the most spectacular thing I've ever seen!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Arabian Red is on this page.

Just to update about my eBay purchased bulbs from Dandiland .

Still not a word out of them and now it's going on 2 months ;'(

Johnston, IA(Zone 5a)

Thanks golgi,
Here's one of my favorite pictures of Leslie Woodriff, It was taken two years ago with our granddaughter "outshining" it :-)

Lovely! Is this the little sweetie you're bringing to the RU?

Norwood, MO(Zone 6a)

Beautiful pic... and you're right... Your DGD does outshine it... What a sweetie!

Johnston, IA(Zone 5a)

Yup, That's our Pride and Joy. It's amazing to see how she's grown in just two years! (the lily too!)

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Yeah. Go infect me with all that Lily Society talk again. I don't have Lily Woodriff yet. Got to work on it.

I bought this one marked as an Easter lily for my Mom. It bloomed oriental with a lovely fragrance. Anyone know what it is?

Wanda - if it's a short one (18-24" tall) then it may very well be 'Muscadet'

that's what i think too. i love thata lily, i have a whole group of them at the front of my house.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

No lily blooms here yet, but I do have buds! These are on Buff Pixie and are the most advanced, Early Yellow has buds also but still very small.

As I was touring the garden I was struck by the variation the lily foliage can have and thought I'd share a clump of Stones and I don't know what yet!

I really enjoy the different foliage as much as the flowers. They don't jump out and flaunt themself like the flowers do, but there is a subtle beauty that I truly love.

Central, KY(Zone 6b)

Hey llilyfan - all of the lilies you sent are looking great, Black Jack even has a baby! The only one's that haven't come up yet is one of the Black Dragons and Algarve. I'm hoping to see them soon. I was really afraid that the 6 months of rain we had would kill everything, but not so : )

It looks like your plants are up farther than mine even though you're a zone colder...has this weather been strange or what!

I'll be sure to post pics of all my adoptees when they bloom : )

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

llilyfan--that bushel basket full of lily bulbs you sent me last October are up and green. Can't wait to see how they look in my garden. Lily Addiction--YEAR ONE>

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Wanda - I've already decided that whatever bulbs I bring to Des Moines that aren't taken are going home with you! mwaahahhaha

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Brenda--you really know how to get my heart beating! What am I bringing you?

I made the "mistake" last summer of throwing daylilies & iris at DGers and requesting back extra lilies for my new-found addiction... Come October, the mailman was ready to kill me--boxes 7 boxes 7 boxes! Christmas every day!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Why Wanda! You're bringing me a big ole bunch of Wanda humour and friendship! (Silly woman....goes off to a trap shoot and comes home all confused....)

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

i want to come to the round up and get some of those lilies. boo hoo boo hoo poor me..................who can't come to the round up. boo hoooooo booooo hooooo
and wooooof woooo and wuff woooo poor little franklin is crying too.
:-( :0(

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Vicki, I'm happy to hear your adoptees are happy with their new home. My Algarve hasn't poked it's nose above ground yet either. It is really strange....My Black dragons are just now popping up and yet others I KNOW should be right there haven't made an appearance yet.

Wanda, the best is yet to come..............I am on my 4th year of treatment with the lilies! It took me awhile to get past the guilt of spending money on plants when we needed groceries, but I'm all better now!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Sue - I got your box yesterday! Just realized I forgot to let you know. Thanks so much!!

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Thanks Brenda, Wiping sweat from brow and letting out big sigh of relief!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

Debi-Z

Why don't you plan your own MA RU??? there are tons of DGers in Mass.

Most US RUs seem to be just one day - a chat and plant swop.

The Cdn ones are a 'destination' with sightseeing/nurseries involved too.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Darn bunnies are chewing on my new lilies! Baby bunnies under the neighbors' shed on the other side of my fence Where is my DH and gun when I need him? Do you think the neighbors would notice if we "picked off" a couple?

What;s worse? Bunnies eating Lilies or Walker chasing them out & breaking iris stalks?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Bunnies! They'll get every one of them if you don't deter them. Walker sounds to be kind of hit and miss so at least you'd have some flowers left.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Wanda, when you eliminate your bunnies, you are welcome to come and destroy mine.
Archie shot at some the other night and just moved the air past their head!! He needs to resight his gun again and maybe do something besides scaring them to death.
The knawed off some of my daffs. and I thought that nothing would bother them. Hope they recd. a belly ache for their effort.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Rotten little #%&@$ I swear by Liquid Fence! But I always keep the BB gun handy just in case they get ideas.

Cedar Rapids, IA(Zone 5a)

Quick little critters, aren't they?

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

But, boy! do they hop when you hit 'em.
