Memorial Forum?

Dave, I mentioned this over in the KY RU 2005 posting, but thought I would copy the idea here and see what you and others thought about this. Appreciate any consideration you can give this. Thanks, Kathy

I would like to see a fund that could be used when a DG member passes away to send flowers to the family; I'd also like to see a forum as a memorial forum, the post titles would be the DG name of the person and perhaps the second post (so outsiders could not see it) could be their address. It also would be a nice place to reminisce about that person.

Good point Kathy..as sad as it is, as our community grows, we also have increased chance of losing friends. Will pass this on.

Thank you Melody. I can think of at least 4 that we lost this past season and they were all great DGers. Even if someone can't donate to a fund for flowers, cards could be sent easier if the address is right there. Of course, it will be up to each of us that knows the person to make sure the correct info is there, but I think you're right. We are getting bigger and making true friends and while we all can't whisk across the country or world to show how much we care, we could do it here.

And one more thing, I am still seeing posts (for example JCF) where people are shocked, it has been 5 mths since she's passed and some people are just now finding out because the original posting was in a prayer, or parking lot, or gen. dis posting. If it were in one place, we could all keep up with the sad news and show our regards. And even if we don't start a fund for this, I'd like to see a forum for it. (God Willing it won't be used often, but it would be there if need be.)

Could we maybe use the funds if someone is recovering from a serious illness or in the hospital too? It would be nice to remind them we care & cheer them up. Or is that too big to take on?

Wanda, I think that the prayer forum does that already? I think we are real good about cheering people up who've been ill and now home, etc.

What I was looking for was a forum strictly for memorializing, so they don't get lost in the shuffle of all the other prayer requests. A place where one could tell what they knew about the person, some anticdotes, perhaps a copy of the newspaper article, etc, even pictures if you have any. I always feel terrible if I've lost someone I've known, but did not hear about it for a long time. If this forum is marked as watched, one would know as soon as it is posted and be able to refer back easy enough if need be.

I would love to see a memorial forum.
