How do you germinate Datura Seeds??? HELP!!!

Wichita, KS

Kim,
Did you ever find out any other info on your Datura 'Blush'?

I received some seeds in trade last fall. Mine are also labeled Datura 'Blush'.
Germinated great and now I have one that is 8" tall.

Can't wait to see what it will be like when it blooms.
On your pic, is that from when you grew it before?

Inquiring minds want to know!....LOL

And Kim, did you use the paper towel, or coffee filter trick? Did you use the peroxide Jeanette

I used the paper towel and ziplock baggie trick :-D

after reading yall's posts, i just started my datura seeds in a moist paper towel, in a ziploc. i think i'll keep the bags outside so they get good and warm. i started triple yellow, mini lilac, triple purple, double white and innoxia. i hope yall are right! lol

sounds like you know your stuff though ;) i was wondering, what about the liquid rooting hormone? if i put some water in a bowl, added a small amount of the RH and then dipped the paper towels in the water? would that help, harm or not do anything?

Sounds mysterious. I would love them. So you're going to tease me and make me plant them all to see if I can find the pink one....lol.

just wanted to bump this. too hard to find!

Eureka, CA

Thanks for bumping it! I wish I had read it before Sunday! I just planted some seeds I got in a trade = Triple Yellow. I stuck them in a six pack, about 3 per cell, in a mixture of seedling mix, vermiculite, and perlite. Moistened it up, and it's on a heating mat. (Started some other seeds too, kind of experimental. Trying roses from hips, a flowering maple I'm told won't come true, and this datura.) I'll let y'all know!

Roses will germinate..But they wont if you didn't freeze or stratify them. Did ya?

Eureka, CA

Well, my triple yellow seeds had nearly 100% germination! They are about 3-4 inches tall now, and "I think" need to be transplanted! They're getting a little leggy looking, so think I probably should. Very excited. Got some brug seeds going too. AND! As I mentioned above, the flower maple seeds I had harvested are doing very well too. Very happy! So, I think I have some work ahead of me this weekend.

And Kim, the rose seeds didn't come up. I did stratify them. And they had been in the refrigerator for quite awhile, but not the freezer. I have some more hips in the fridge I might try again.

Soak, Freeze, Then warmth
