GARDEN PARTY GAMES AND DOOR PRIZES

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Hi ya'll. I'm looking for some ideas. I'm hosting a garden party/plant swap in May. I have gathered tons of door prizes. Now I'm looking for games or funny ways the guests can win the door prizes. For instance, at my last party, anyone who brought anything with chocolate in it got a prize. I'm a chocoholic, can you tell?

Whoever gardened in the most states won a prize.

Whoever gardened out of the country won a prize.

Someone else suggested that a guest could win the table setting (or other prize) on their table if they had the most keys on their keyring.

Or they could win a prize if they had a dollar bill (any denomination) with the number 13 in the serial number.

Do you have any other ideas? I want it to be fun and unusual to win a prize. And I want it to be an opportunity for us to learn something about one another. Can you think of something?

This sounds like fun! Maybe you could adapt some baby shower games? The one where you hold a paper plate on your head and draw a baby-you could draw a flower instead. Guest of honor wears a brooch of rattles, ribbons, spoons, etc and guests try to remember what the items were-could make the brooch of trowel, seed packs, flowers, plant ties. Identify the baby food by color-identify a flower by smell with a blindfold?

You could play the alphabet game. Go around the room or circle and have the first person name a flower( Common name) beginning in A . Next one stararting with B, Etc. If they can not name one , they are out of competition. Repeat cycle until only one remains--- The Winner. Lou

A fun one we did at My DIL's shower was you go around and put a name on everybody's back. A movie star, cartoon character, sports or news figure, ones that have something easy to act out or a saying or something that you would recognize. Then everybody gets up and walks around looking at all the names, You can't see the name on your own back. You try to act out or give hints to each other so you can guess the name on your back. The fun thing about this is the looser is the winner. The last person that can't figure out the name on their back wins. OF course you don't tell that part until the end. :) We had allot of fun with it.

that is cute mystic - considering the person acting doesn't have a clue, if I read that right!

What a cool way to distribute door prizes!!! How about:

Whoever has a photo of a flower in their wallet.
Have shrubs or trees that need to be planted? TIme the men on how fast they can dig a hole, lol
Who can weed a flower bed the quickest.
Are you going to have flowers on the tables? Maybe for the winner of the table setting do a "name the flowers" contest. Whoever gets them all, or most, right, wins the table.
Pick a specific flower, and if a guest wears it to the party, they win a prize

One of my favorites could be adapted, put a plant name on everyone's back, they are allowed to ask each person two questions as to their identity first, second and third to guess gets prizes. they go up to hostess when they are ready to guess. no mirrors in room or papers with writing facing in gets people to talking with each other also.
