Spring Cleaning

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

The little windows beside the front door is cloudy on the inside of the glass. What can I do other than replacing them. I like the light that comes in as there is no window in the room.

I should have said (are cloudy)

I painted the bedroom we have for our grand daughter a very pale yellow, It is so inviting and the morning sun makes it even more so.

The cloudiness is because the seal has broken and an alkaline film has built up on the inside of the glass. You might be able to remove the glass pane (for cleaning) from the once-sealed unit but it would be risky.

Thanks Darius, I am going to contact a window company. It will probably be expensive to replace them. This house is about 20 yrs old.

Dot,

Sorry I have no suggestions for the window, but I love your trim color on your window shutters. (Purples and lavenders are my favorite colors this decade.)

Molly. it just looks lavender, it was brown. I have since painted them a light brown. I want to have new siding put on the house but not soon so I tried to change the shutters.I also like the lavender and purple shades.

My next color will be a shade of green. LOL Maybe someone can tell me what my problem is, I am always changing colors, furniture, etc. Some might say I am unhappy but I am happy. I am 73 yrs young and do all my own painting. I am very active and I think that is what keeps me young. Today I have painted the ceiling in the room we have for our grandson and the ceiling in one bathroom, Tomorrow I will do the walls and trim. My dd ask me what time I started this morning. it was 7) a.m.

Dot,

I think it is great that you are so young. Although I must say, it's a good thing not everyone is so young. I am a house painter by trade, and I can always use the work.

Great job. Anyway, you don't have to be unhappy to change things in your life. That is also another sign of youthfulness, the ability to change. IMO. I change colors about every 3 years.

Are the windows as old as the house? Is there a label somewhere that you can see that would tell you who made them. Some of my windows are by Long Fence( iknowiknow, windows and fence are two different thngs) but I have a lifetime warranty on the windows so that if the seal breaks they get replaced at now charge for the parts. Its worth a try.

Anderson also has a lifetime warranty.

Dot, Your home is beautiful! I am 74 and you have shamed me into stopping my whining and getting some paint! Besides solving my "dingy" problem it would be good exercise!

Your D brother said to "come on dawn" if you need to paint some more. LOL

Bel Air, MD(Zone 6a)

I checked the internet and found that the warranty is 20 yrs. Our house is 23 yrs.old. Today my home improvement man came by and said he can replace them.
Here is a photo of J.D's (grandson) bedroom that I painted yesterday, note there are lots of golf decorations as my DH also uses this room for his computer and T.V.(he and I do not have the same taste in show.

Girls, I still have plenty of steam and I work cheap.
I am trying to get all the inside work done so the spring will be free for outdoor projects. Hope my brugs survived the winter.
