Home entertainment system

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I wasnt sure where else to post this.
I bought a home entertainment system for dh for Christmas. dvd, speakers and the woofer?
The darndest thing is happening with it.
I can be be doing nothing, in a quiet house an all of a sudden the wooofer starts talking to me in spanish....i hear spanish talk radio and sometimes i'm treated with music.
There is no stereo hooked up anywhere near it. We have the TV, VCR, DVD, and the woofer connected. I've tried shutting it down, rewiring it, ...
any ideas?
thanks

I would go ahead and translate it and see what it wants. LOL

Ok, done with the joking. I asked my husband and he says that Woofers are set to a frequency. My husband says there has to be a tuner hooked up to it to use it. Maybe turn the volume down. He says he thinks ours does this sometimes also.
Is there a radio connected? Then switch it to somewhere that is not a station on the radio.
I was fooling around with ours earlier this morning using the remote and you can set the volume separatel;y on each speaker and woofer on ours. Do you have the woofer set really loud?
Is there a button to turn just the woofer off when you aren't watching tv and stuff?

like right now, the tv is off, no radio anywhere and the woofer is on standby...and its talking to me...
thinking i need to call ghostbusters, lol

It's not an uncommon problem, especially since many manufacturers use inexpensive cables to keep production costs down. You might try getting a better quality audio cable for the subwoofer.

i'll try that tomorrow, thanks for the info,

I was reading up a bit at some audiophile websites that were waaay over my head. There are filters and shields you can get to keep the radio noise from bleeding through. If you ask at Radio Shack or a reputable audio equipment store, they may have just the thing you need.

In the meantime, http://www.studyspanish.com/ !
