LOL I know you're glad it's over.
What Brugs Are Blooming Now
You bet!
Thank you, Shirley and Ada. Everyone is so nice to give me such lovely compliments. You guys are too kind.
Shirley, you are so dear to mention Duke. He is indeed a beloved family member. He just turned 11 and is getting to be an old man. You and Ada and everyone here were so nice to me when Dutchess died. Gretchen sent me a lovely card which was really comforting. I'll never forget the kindness and support I received during that very difficult time. I owe you guys a debt of gratitude for that.

Beautiful pics Clare. A few more weeks and everything here should start taking off and growing again.
Thanks, Donna! I'm waiting a few more weeks too before I let my tropicals and subtropicals and seedlings out of the greenhouse.
Clare,
Everything is just gorgeous! It makes me sigh.
Jackie
Wow, Clare. All your plants are so pretty. It's still cold here and nothing growing.
Is the last one, the perfume tree? I can't imagine the scents you have going on,
must be heavenly.
Thanks, Ada. Hopefully, spring is right around the corner for us.
Hellobebe, the last one is called Banana Shrub, Michelia figo, also called Michelia fuscata. It has a wonderful ripe banana fragrance. I do plant for fragrance mostly, but I also plant for Butterflies and Hummingbirds.
Here's a picture that I just took. A lizard is lying in the warm sun on my Hebe:
They are all wonderful and, you're correct, Rosabelle is so pretty!! I hope to root a cutting for my friend - I adored her mom, who was so stylish and entertaining, named Rosabelle...
More gorgeous pictures from your "slice of paradise"!
Would you believe that last Fall, in my rush to get all my Brugs indoors before the killing frost hit our growing area, that I forgot to dig up my Calla Lillies! GROAN! This growing season, I'm having to start over with these beautiful flowering bulbs!! I would be very surprised if any of them survived outdoors with our long cold Winter! :~(
Clare, "Duke" is only 77yrs. old in people's age! I'm sure he is still "young-at-heart" and is your faithful companion in your garden. Our Boxer, "Penny" who passed away at age 9, was always at my side. I called her my "gardening buddy".
I'm sure that you know that DG'ers are more than just gardening friends! We come through during the good times, as well as, the rough ones! I think that this is just one of the reasons that so many of us have stayed with DG through the years! We are always there for one another! :~)
Shirley, I hope your Calla Lillies survived. I've heard of them coming back in your zone. I'm so sorry about your Penny. Nine years old is so young. Dutchess was nine too and was my gardening buddy too. It is a loss that I'm still trying to cope with. You know just what I'm going through. Duke is definitely young at heart, but his old body gives him trouble with his arthritis and all. I couldn't love him any more than I do, and he definitely keeps me company in the garden. You are right that there are special people here.
Here's Pink Beauty today. It has been raining so the wet blossoms are heavy on the tree.
Clare, Pink Beauty is wonderful, huh?? So pretty, such a huge flush. Versi Peach is my hubby's fav, we both love her blossoms and fragrance. I surely hope mine survives, not sure if I have a cutting, but have my fingers crossed...your entire garden is lovely!!!
Clare...it looks like summer is already here in your part of the state !!! Looking wonderful !! Thanks for posting photos!
Margie
Thanks, Sherry and Margie!
Sherry, yes, Pink Beauty is a showoff! She is a good grower and bloomer. I haven't fertilized since last summer so she is doing great! I love V. Peach too. She was one of my very first brugs, and she was my first Versicolor. She has a very unique fragrance, I think too, and she is a very slow grower and content in a container so that works for me.
Margie, we are having so much rain here. I bet you are too. I like not having to water, but I want to repot things and can't because of this darn rain.
Wow, Clare. Looks like we all need to move to your neck of the woods. Awesome blooms.
To Clare thank you for sharing these pictures here as i sit atr the computer as i look out the window we have over 12 inches of snow on the ground so we need to see signs of spring although i did see two robins the other day i am surprised the did not head down south again. Bob
Bob,I have more than that and its pretty disgusting
Clare,the pictures are gorgeous
I really love that bottle brush and the blue bush thingy
How many of those plants can be pot grown do you think?
I have a gift certificate to Logees............just shopping around...LOL
I think my wish list is about 4x's longer than my gift certificate
Thanks Ada, Bob, and Karyn.
Karyn, how is Cinders? I would love to see a picture of her if you have one. You can grow whatever you wish in a container. Logee's has a great many container plants so feel free to order whatever appeals to you. I've purchased a lot of my plants from them, and I grow a lot in containers too because I am a renter here. Most of my brugs are in the ground because I figure that I can take cuttings with me when I have to move, but my most treasured plants are in containers. When I was figuring out what to do with the landscape, my rule was, if I can propagate it easily, I'll give it to the landlord and put it in the ground. Although, I put three treasured Michelia trees in the ground, and I don't think I can propagate those easily, but they were getting to large to move anyway. I am trying to air layer a branch of my Michelia x alba, and I hope it works!
Here is my white wisteria today:
I was just browzing Logees
I ended up with 31 plants in my basket...LOL
cut back 2x's and now have it down to 16 plants.......
I also went for all the carniverous plants
they are soooo cool
its good to know that many of them can grow in containers
I love your crossvine
That stayed on my list
the nana smelling plant got culled off but maybe next year
Cinders is doing OK but she is very stiff when she gets up
she is acting weird
She never was a cuddler
But now she wants to sit on me where ever I am
It makes me nervous
Like she knows she doesnt have much time left
I'm hoping its cause Vixen is sooo cuddly ,maybe she's jealous
Vixen is getting HUGE
Shes at least or maybe a little larger than Cinder
She's much more muscular than Cinders ,but Cinders is still the boss
I'll take some pictures tomorrow
Ah, Cinders is just jealous probably. My Dutchess was a great cuddler, and she got very stiff too. Duke is stiff too, and he's on Rimadyl. Please kiss her for me. Duke is 11 now, and the older he gets, the sweeter he becomes. Wow, Vixen has put on some growth then really quickly! I can't wait to see pictures of both of them.
Congrats on your Logee's plants. They sell good quality plants at affordable prices, and they ship really well. Some of their plants start out a little on the small side, but they usually don't stay that way for long in my experience. Sixteen plants! How exciting!
Oh GOD!! I am stiff too when I get up now and everyone I know thinks I act weird. CC, am I in trouble or what? The only thing is I do not fit in Tom's lap anymore, try as I might. LOL
Kell,as long as you don't start sheding or scratching your ears with your feet you're OK
Good thread and good reading.
Clare your garden pictures are just great, such beautiful brug trees. Pink Beauty is the first brug I bought and from Logees. It is blooming in my gh now on a short cutting. Where in colorado are you moving. Sure will be a great change.
Sherry glad everything went okay with your pin removal, and don't try to do too much now. DonnaS
Thanks, DonnaS!! It's much better without the staples!!!
With old dogs, I start with Arthisoothe, a terrific anti-inflammatory agent - I could tell a difference following the first dose. I use Arithisoothe, alone, as long as possible, prior to adding Glucosamine w/ Ester-C, Rimadyl, and I've drawn a blank on lots of others, but they are there. Even if you are already on a course of treatments, meds, and, or injections, Arithisoothe can be added and, IMO, really works wonders. Keeping the dog/cat trim also helps. One of my old dogs was a total chow hound and I learned it didn't matter what he was eating, as long as he had plenty of it, so I used lots of green beans, sweet potatoes/yams, anything low cal, and as little fat as possible - managed to keep his weight acceptable, but it was not easy and took full time monitoring, every one loved to give him treats, so I had to keep my eye on the family/friends, as well as Boo Baby, world's best dog!!!
Kell, I am so stiff too! It is all that repotting that I am doing. It really strains my back. Kell, do you have any wisteria pictures that you can post? I would love to see them. I'll post my pink Wisteria floribunda 'Honabeni' when it blooms in a week or two.

oh God CC, now that you mention it I have been shedding more than usual. But thankfully my days of scratching my ears with my feet are long over. I can't even see my feet anymore. LOL
Clare you will freeze in Fort Collins. I was there once long ago when I could see my feet. Isn't that near Estes Park?
Sherry, you sure take good care of your dogs. That is so great.
How dark is your pink Wisteria floribunda 'Honabeni'? Can you imagine a raspberry wisteria?? I think I just recently posted the double wisteria. That is my favorite in the world. here is another one. MIne are not yet close to blooming this year.
Kell, do you have your Wisterias growing in the ground or in pots?
No words to describe your stunning wisteria Kell, way past beautiful, wow, I'd probably sleep in the yard with it!!
Clare, where are you moving??
Sherry, I agree with you. I'd sleep in Kell's yard any day of the week.
