What exactly does region mean?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I was just wondering about this region thing. If it is an indoor plant, should you say that it grows in your region, or is the region thing only for outdoor plants. I have not listed anything in the PF yet, mosty because I don't want to screw up. So that is why I am asking this question.

It's the plants you grow outdoors. But just to keep things interesting, you should note it can also apply to annuals that do well in your zone, because all annuals don't do well in all locations ;o)

Thanks Terry. That helps me know more of how to post to the PF. Now if I can only get my nerve up to do it. :)

OK, Terry... just to confuse things, I grow many of the warmer climate perennials as annuals. Any perennial that can be started indoors and bloom the first year is fair game for me. For instance, Malva sylvestris doesn't seem to winter over here, but blooms the first year. Hollyhocks are biennial, but don't winter over. They don't bloom the first year. So, I grow M. sylvestis as an annual. Do I add my region in those circumstances?
