Curbside Treasure

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sunday I was coming home and saw this on the side of the road. I was thinking of getting a nice car. My work van is good for work, dogs and roundups, but this one makes me look good. And in cars, red is my favorite color. And, I got her for just over half of what they are selling for in the autotrader.

This will be my 4th Mustang over the years. Only a 3.8 automatic but I've had the power and gear shifting, now I just want pretty. This time I have a privacy carport to keep her out of the sun.

Only problem is, the stereo owners manual is in french and spanish. I need to see if I can translate the pictures.

My landlord saw this in the driveway yesterday, thought I had company so he didn't mow the lawn. I just had to show her off, I hope you don't mind.

Wanna race? What year is it? Mine is 95, RED, 5 on the floor last of the big engines. I'm going to get a biiiig ticket in it someday. I have to store mine for snow so was interested in what you said about being about to portect yours from the sun. Interesting how these climates affect us!!!
My brother lives in Vero Beach. Is that close to you? Personally if I drove down I think they should have a parade somewhere just for us 2 old dollies and our Tangs. Well Darius could put her PU in the parade too!
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine..... even if my husband called it menopausal red.

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

Dianne, don't mean to butt in, but I live 7 miles south of Vero Beach.
If you visit your brother, you will have to stop by & load up some plants from my yard! Melba

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Hey, thanks for looking everybody. If you are ever down my way, I will give you a ride you won't forget. (Just kidding)

This one is a 2000, automatic, and the small engine, 6 cylinders, 3.8L. So Dianne, you would leave me in your dust!

My last new Mustang was the 25th Anniversary edition, 5.0L LX Convertible 5 speed stick shift. It had those wonderful soft rubber racing tires that didn't slip around in the water puddles. I wore those off by 11,000 miles, road raced with Porsches and Corvettes. Couldn't afford to buy the same kind of tires at $300.00 a piece. My goodness sounds like a teenager, but I was 37 then. I grew weary of replacing rag tops that the vandal teens in the neighborhood entertained themselves by cutting and I was also tired of standing on the clutch in this traffic down here, so I sold that car to my sister who lives in Michigan, down the road from you Sarv, and the car is in the garage as we speak. She takes it out after the sun comes out in the late spring. And when I go up there to visit, she lets me drive it.

Dianne, having a carport is much better for that red. My old mustang didn't enjoy the luxury of covered parking so the red oxidized pretty bad. When my sis took the car she had it repainted.

Mardella and I did the mall crawl yesterday, overcast but no rain. Geesh, that car sits low. Switching from stepping UP in a van, and sitting DOWN in the coupe will take a little getting used to. Hey but I'm gonna do it!

I do love that car.

Know the feeling Molly!!! It is soooo sweet. That's what helps keep us young.
Gee Melba have you seen the trunk in the Tang? But I would love to stop in, I'm sure I could fit plants in - don't needclothes .... plants are more important.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

We could make our own parade!! I'd even be willing to take it out of it's winter wrap up in the garage to see sunshine and palm trees!! This baby doesn't get out too often, and I'm really paranoid about where I park it, not too close to other cars, not under sappy trees, etc. Such a fun car! This is my '69 vert, with a nice big 302 under the hood. DH has a '70 fast back and a couple of '70 Rancheros in various stages of restoration. This one has been completely restored, and has a wood grain interior. Fun to watch the heads turn!!

Yes to the parade as long as my DH can bring our oldie but goodie of a Farm truck. If nothing else starts it will!! We just don't want him too close to our beauties though!

Molly

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

EVERYBODY looks good in red!! Wanna drag?? LOL Can't tell you how many times I heard that when I had my first one in '71....that got traded in, bought another in 1985, another '69, DH traded that for a fastback, and when I grumbled, he gave me this one.

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Meezers, she's a dream come true. And what a stable you have!

Verona, ON

Oh Wanna drag does that bring back warm memories. We used to "find" a new strip every Sat. night to avoid the police ..... of course the best draggster as the ploice officer's son. Ummm. Wonder why we were never found and others were.
To this day in certain areas in the province there are Fri and Sat. night drags on the street. You don't usually know the exact spot until midnight - one but the rush is still there.!

LOL Balvenie, wanna see more cars? DH is a certifiable gearhead, if you like you can go to his website, sewimustangs@cs.com and see all his stuff, and his friend's stuff, and family stuff....but don't look at the landscaping photos they are now three years old and look pathetic.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Meezer, that's an e-mail address link -- can you put his website's URL? I'd love to see his cars!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

NO, hon, that's his website http://www.sewimustangs.com/

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Wow, a great place to visit. All those beauties make me want to go out and 'update' my little Ranger. Thanks for the visit.

I love that blue 'Vette he linked to: http://www.sewimustangs.com/65%20Blue%20Vette.html Drool...

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yep, this is one genuine car addicted guy! He spends a lot of time doing "car stuff" although I have given up on going to swap meets with him because it's an all day proposition and usually involves dragging our little wagon with us to pick up uhhhhhh "treasure" to take home! He posts pics of everybody's cars.....I almost bought that nifty Mercedes because it drove like a dream, had a beautiful leather interior, but then realized I would have TWO cars I couldn't drive in winter, and would be contributing to the excess auto problem!! Ahh, well, he doesn't have any other vices, so he's a keeper! Glad you enjoyed the visit.

Commerce, GA(Zone 8a)

ok , Got to show you all my oldest son & his son's 3 year project restoring a Vette. They are proud of this car,& I am proud of them! Melba

What a little beauty!! Wonder if these guys ever admit to spending more on restoration than the original cost of the car!!! DH refers to them all as investment, and I said an investment is something you MAKE money on............Of course, someday........he might. If he can ever bring himself to part with one. (snort!!)
