Thanks so much!

Hi
I don't care what you put in the envelope after it gets to you.

My only request would be if you are putting in something that is totally different from anything I have would you drop me a note and see if it might be something I am desperately in need of!!! I am sure there is still a huge list of things I think I should try!

I had not expected the response I have received from this and I think now that I will cut this off at 50 people! I want everyone to have a chance to get something they would like to have and if it gets much over 50 that is going to be difficult!

The other thing I hope that you will keep in mind is that there will be a lot of people waiting for the box when you are finished with it, so do try to get it back in the mail ASAP.

I am also going to stick in some things that are still in lunch bags waiting to be cleaned, I know I am not going to get back to finishing them up and sorting and cleaning properly.

One of the things I had done when I participated in some of the round robins, was to take out a few of the seeds from a package rather than taking out a whole package and then put in a whole package to replace what I had taken. Especially this year I am making myself only plant 3 to 6 of each seed instead of a whole package. I am very pleased with the results I am having by doing this. I do not feel nearly as overcrowded as I did last year.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

That's great idea, Alice! That's what I've been trying this year, too. Whenever I make a trade, I just take about 6 of the seeds and pass on the others. (I've even been requesting that traders just give me a half dozen or so in their trades.)

Let's face it, unless you're a farmer, there just isn't enough room to plant out everything!

This is such a fun idea!

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

I've been reading this thread with interest, and it sounds like great fun for everyone involved!

While I can't imagine how large a package could be with 500 seed packets, would it be more manageable to split them up into two (or more) separate envelopes/boxes? You could then start each one at a different place in the list.

I'm not signing up; just smiling and lurking. :)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I don't think the postage will be that much - seeds really aren't that heavy.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

If we all put in, we can just keep recycling the parcel, round and round!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

LOL - it'll be another one like Sheran's RR - it goes til the envelope disintegrates!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Fun! At least it keeps it interesting for the people at the tail end if some folks are putting in!

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

I was in a round robin with a large box and the postage was around $10. Everyone put in as well as took out. I am mostly joining so I can add some things. I have so many seeds already, but who knows, I may also take some things out.

The PO now has two flat rate boxes for $7.70 in the US. They look very different but end up being the same size.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I like the idea of something flat rate because that way I can take care of postage ahead of time and be ready to send the box on once it gets to me..... My post office is a ways off, but my mail carrier would probably pick up a box that already had postage on it, so using a flat rate box might let me turn it around a little faster.

Do we each purchase the flat rate box at the post office for $7.70, or can we just put new $7.70 postage on the same box? I've never used the USPS flat rate boxes before.....

Tillamook, OR(Zone 8b)

You generally can use the same box over again if it doesn't get too ripped up...But, the boxes are free at any rate. The only thing you have to do is purchase the postage which you can do online and tape it to the box. Your mail carrier is supposed to pick up the box from you if you request a package pickup at your house or mailbox.

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

Not sure here but think I would be last one here please let me know this sounds interesting and like fun fun.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Sounds good! I don't know if this is SOP, but I'd like to suggest that each person email the next when the box is on its way.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Actually, I think it would be cool if we start a "shipping" thread so everyone can follow the path!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

oh, yes, I like that idea!

Would that be better to do here or in the Round Robin forum?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Round Robin Forum would be better right? I would think it would be more logical. So we are ready to go - I cannot wait to get this one down here.

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

If it's an envelope we're passing around, I have some BIG bubble mailers that we could use. If there gets to be too much tape on it, someone could always remove some before passing it on.

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

I am officially closing this offer to new people as of now.

Jessie and I will draw names this evening when she gets here and post the list and the order in the morning. She is very excited about getting to help me with this.

Having been involved in RoundRobins before I would suggest that everyone use address confirmation on the package they send to the next person. It does seem to resolve some of the problems that have arisen with packages not getting where they were supposed to.

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh I hate it! I just missed the cut off! Have fun you guys!
JanetS

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

address confirmation?? whats that?? or is it tracking confirmation. jusat want to make sure what i am supposed to use when its my turn.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

you may want to check it out but I think you will find the Bubble mailer will cost more depending on how far it is going as they weigh those, and not the boxes.
