Coffee time again. Another trip to doc with MIL this am. Hopefully that's it for 3 weeks now. Running errands this afternoon.
I've been looking up a lot of seeds in the PF and can't wait to start some. The dirt is calling... calling.... calling.... (bet you all can hear it!)
Busy phone lines yesterday. Talked to 2 bros and one sis. Meeting one bro at the Dutch Consulate in Chicago, 9am, March 7. Rest of the paperwork will be done on site. We'll make a weekend of it and stay at my sister's in WI. The other bro was telling me to expect an ebay package in the mail. He sends stuff to me and then picks it up on a business trip or has me mail it to him - so expensive for businesses to mail across the border!
I'm with you, Maria, plop them in where ever there's room!
How's Stormy today? Is he forgiven or still in the 'doghouse'? lol
Coffee and...part 8 :-D
Hmmm-garden maps? Does that include any tags that made it through the winter? I am also, plant where there is room, kind of gardener.
Sigh_never had hair that was wonderfully long, mine is very fine and gets wimpy, so keep it rather short. I would Love long, thick -dark brown or auburn hair-maybe in the next life! LOL
Maria, I would help with the project also. I seem to do OK with them. The problem often is that the parts don't always fit tightly etc. The doors on the linen cabinet were cut a bit short, but it does the job; so will wait until maybe a great flea market find to replace it.
Kooger, good luck on the 7th and I hope that you have a chance for a nice meal or 10 on your week-end.
Well up for a cuppa and then off on errands. It's cold here, but the sun is out.
No Kooger Stormy is out of the doghouse. Can't stay angry at such a sweet a face as his. Did make sure he got an extra long walk this morning.
The palms of my hands are itching so bad to get out and play in the dirt. I've made copious plans for my new periennal flower bed that Warren built for me when I was in the hospital last May. We still have lots of snow and another humdinger of a storm on its way so I'll just garden vicariously through the rest of you that can get out.
We are going to build a Hoop House as soon as we can get out and dig. Think Warren will be well enough to help me with that rather than a Green House.
M5 I love your haircut. I need to go in soon for an estimate. Hate sitting still that long so avoid cuts as much as possible. My game plan usually is let it grow until I can no longer stand it, then rush in, get a buzz cut and forget about it again until it bugs me. I have naturally curly hair so it does what it wants anyway.
Time to move more wood into the house. Having the woodstove on the main floor is a bit of a pain 'cause you can only get so much wood in at one time. But on the other hand it does give me a reason to go outside.
Have a good afternoon all.
Dianne
Hi All,
I've been back to lurking for a while. I wanted to wait til I had something to offer. Today is the day.
I just got back from visiting and having lunch with Cyberageous and on the way home it was raining like a son of a gun. When I arrived home, the rain had let up a bit so while I let the dogs out, I wandered around to see how everything liked that rainwater. I picked some of my cherry tomatoes and shared them with my neighbor. BUT, I saw something red peeking out and low and behold, my first strawberry, and it's a big one.
So today for afternoon snack, I am offering strawberries dipped in chocolate. Any takers?
I hope yall enjoy them, and as you say, there are no calories here!!!
Molly
:^))))
Man what a busy bunch you have all been!! I have been a lazy slug - other than going to two stores for groceries and an hour in the huff and puff, I have done nothing of worth today. Oh, I did start some seeds!! Just couldn't wait another minute.
Aria - the bookshelves look nice - you may have another career starting!
Molly - that strawberry looks absolutely delicious. I stuck in 40 some plants last spring, but the weeds took over. Why is it that I cannot keep a strawberry bed free of weeds. I suspect that we will have to till it all under and start over once more.
Another gloomy Michigan day - next week the lake effect snow showers are supposed to kick in - oh happy day...NOT
Have nothing planned for dinner - just out of ideas. Tomorrow we get our taxes done - always a stressful time in my life. My youngest son (who is such a great kid) thought he would be getting some $$ back - he just had to replace an engine in his truck and his wife's car took a dump. They are both working two jobs and found out that they owe over 800 bucks. I feel so bad for them. If we get a big sum back (fingers crossed) I would like to slip them some. DH ususally is not in favor of that - he thinks it is good for them to struggle. I agree somewhat, but used to love it when my mom would give us some extra $$. Seems like they take one step forward and two steps back. They are both healthy and have decent jobs, but are still going to school and I know $$ is tight. Well, enough of that.....
DH decided to make dinner so I have some more time to check out what's happening here. For some reason I feel bored. Can it be this crappy weather??? I think I need a trip to warm weather...
Not me Sarv, don't know one tool from another!
Was the same way , always handing money over to the chilldren, my husband did not approve either especially after private schools for four, college and post graduate work for their masters, but they are the greatest.
Maria
Hello! anybody home? Aria, the shelves look great, the dark background really shows off your pretty glassware and cups. Your garden books will fit on the lower shelves!
MollyMc, welcome. Yes, you do find nice things! Stop in often, there is always something going on here, coffee, tea, and stuff without calories to taste!
I've had a couple of busy days and a busy night in between. Yesterday after I rode one of my horses she coliced. Colic in a horse can be life threatening, so I rushed her off to the vet (after hours call) and brought home a comfortable horse that is recovering well. I was up last night every 2 hours to check on her so got up feeling rather tired this morning when it was time to get some work done, and I suppose as soon as dinner is over and I sit down sleep will overtake me. I was glad to have a pot of bean soup on the stove which cooked while I rode, and my hubby quickly hitched the trailer for me to take the horse to the vet, and then was on his own with the beans for dinner.
Today I helped my neighbor with cattle again. Today's job was not scheduled, some of the calves got back into the pasture with their mothers and so we had to bring the cows in to the corrals again and resort them. We took the cows to a more distant pasture and put all the calves back together again. I hope the little rascals behave themselves this time.
I think I will go plant my peas, a good way to get my hands dirty and maybe also my knees. I've been resisting the temptation to plant them too early, but spring is comming early this year. Last year at this time there was still over a foot of snow on the garden!
Take care, see you all later or probably tomorrow.
Julie, I made a map of my house and the gardening areas around it. I had to blow it up because I didn't have enough room to write. Finally, I had to use initials for plants and had a legend at the bottom so I'd know what the initials stood for. It helped me plan so that I didn't just stick plants in holes without thinking about bloom time, tall plants hiding shorter plants, shade plants, and any other special needs.
Maria, the new shelves look great.
Molly, LOVE the new car... time you had something sporty!
Maria-lovely shelves.
MaryE-Busy day, where do you get the energy?
Molly-Strawberries, tomatoes?? Would trade you a snowball!!!
Night folks,
Come on in, have another biscotti, i treasure them one a day so that are plenty for you to share.
Are you having a fit when DG is on the fritz as it was a while ago??? What I'd do without it? be bored to tears, DG is my only company now.
How is every body? We have 12" of new snow with 20' temp. sun is shining with a million diamonds sparkling in the snow. Might as well enjoy looking at it even though i'm waiting for spring, I did not just look at it went out there and made a snow angel, was perfect till I had to get up without help and ruined the whole thing. lol and was it ever cold!
:-( Maria
LOL, Maria, I can just see you doing a "snow angel"!!! :)
Guess I am an old kid, Darius, little bit nutty like they are at times LOL
Tea please this am. Out of the good creamer, I see, will have to make a groc, run later today.
Jackson & Perkins arrived a few days ago. Is anyone else just drooling over Doppelgänger? They just had to put them life size on the cover! Noticed the price is lower than last year. Tempting me.....
I'm still researching seeds. Sure makes a gal anxious to get planting!
Well, I'm fessing up now. On Tues. I turned down the daycare job. It was hard to do, but they told me with my experience, I would be offered quite a bit more than their starting wage. They called and offered me $5.83/hr. Yes, it would help out, but even a fast food joint pays more than that!! I guess our kiddies are our future, but they're not worth paying a decent wage for? The hospital oversees the daycare and they are making big bucks, constantly expanding, etc., why can't they pay more? Someone with no experience, can walk in and get a Care Tech. job and start close to $8. They will train. So, I turned them down. If I can't find something else, I will go back to home daycare. I've had a lady bugging me for a year to please start up again.
Yesterday I had a job interview at the School for the Deaf - Relay Center. They do the relay for 26 states from that bldg. I so impressed myself - out of school for 34 yrs. and never had a job doing typing, (excuse me, we are now keyboarding!) and scored 62 on their typing test. 50 was required. How's that for a morale booster! Now, just hope I get the job. They start at $8/hr and have a nice benefit pkg., plus wage increases and bonuses every 3 months! Sounds good, right? Praying I get in!!!!!!!
Have to get the garbage out and do some jeans fixing so I'm off here for a while. Later, all GOBs.
Good morning. Aria, had to laugh at the snow angel, it sounds like something I would do. Do you also jump into leaf piles? Another good kid type of fun! Enjoy life, you pass this way but once.
Another beautiful day, frosty but sunny, and the temp is clear up to 25 already, about 45 expected for a high today if I remember right. I"ll be spending part of the day in town, have to take my stock trailer in to the tire place, have tires rotated, brakes checked and adjusted, and on the way in have to make a stop at my neighbors to take his 4 wheeler and lawn mower to the repair shop. That will save him a trip and about an hour's time since I am going in with an empty trailer. We use the 4 wheeler to pull the lambmobile and will need that about a week from now. Picture below. This was taken last year when I had just brought in this set of new lambs with momma following the cart. Usually this works well, but sometimes we have a ewe that just won't follow and then it gets more interesting. You'll be hearing about this from time to time when I have come in from my night check and am too wide awake to go back to sleep in the wee hours of the morning. I sit here at the computer warming up with a cup or two of chamomile tea. That starts in about a week and goes through most of March.
My horse who needed the trip to the vet a couple evenings ago looks fine now. I'm being careful not to feed her too much all at once for a couple of days. You know how it is, get back to normal slowly so as to not cause more problems.
Kooger, I think I would have turned that job down too. I hope you get the one you want. It amazes me how much some places will expect for so little pay. All the gabbing on DG has kept your typing skills in good order to maybe get the better job.
Time to run, got to tend the greenhouse before heading to town. Oh, and dishes, always dishes. I got sleepy fast last night and so the dinner dishes waited for me. Dishes always wait, and multiply! I'd better get to them before the sink overflows! See you later.
Good Morning everyone! Pass the coffee this direction, please. Ahhhh Thanks. That tastes pretty good. Sorry we ran out of the 'good' creamer. LOL
Looks like someone's butt got a bit cold with that snow angle. :-D (I've been dying to do that...but I think EVERYONE on my block (my kids!) would think I was totally insane. Let me rephrase...KNOW I was insane. And I've been trying to deny the diagnosis. HAHAHAHA)
Mary, I hope your horse is going to be just fine. That must have been more than a little scarey for you.
Kooger...I forgot...yesterday I wanted to ask you where in Wisconsin you were going to be? Chances are that if you're traveling through the lower the part of the state, you'll be passing pretty close to Muscoda. (Well, maybe within 50 miles or so. ;-))
Why is it when I try to writea reply, the phone rings or DH wants coffee...or something?
Gotta run...
TTYL
~julie~
Everyone beat me out of bed this morning. I stopped at the Sara Lee outlet store yesterday, so I'm putting some hot croissants on the table, got a box of 24 big ones for $5. They don't always have them so I thought I'd better grab them. Also, there's a nice jar of that chocolately-hazelnut Nutella so help yourselves.
Garden maps!! What a great idea. LOL We sort of stick 'em in the ground and wait to see how well they do....naturally we end up moving a lot of things around but planning seems out of our grasp. And some things I like to keep close to the house so I can keep an eye on them while they establish their root systems. Good thing DH is handy at digging and moving and I'm very good at pointing... Every year he says we should number the garden beds at least so we can get on the same page when talking about adding new things. I agree. We should. (snort)
Nice curbside find MollyMc. My favorite color...mine is a '69 vert just waiting to go out for a spin once all the snow and salt are gone from the roads. The old musclecar Mustangs are not known for good handling on wet or snowy roads, plus after what we spent on restoration, we are not too anxious to get icky stuff on it. Sure does make heads turn though!
Aria, those shelves are handsome!! Isn't is great to have something new and useful as well as good looking!! I've been known to slip my kids a few bucks here and there too, but DH is even more generous than me so there's no complaints on that ....except for my youngest, who willingly accepts help and then will complain that nobody ever does anything for her.....needless to say, that has resulted in her getting very little as she causes most of her own problems.
Poor Stormy, he thought that since you left it out and it was unprotected, it must have been meant for him. There wasn't a note on it was there? Caught our old Hobbes the other day up on the counter eyeing the butter dish. It is covered, but when I looked closely at it, there were little tongue prints on the edges. Guess that goes in the cupboard from now on.....unless I want cat breath. I suppose sometimes temptation overcomes their better judgement. Never happens to me..............heehee.
Gonna go watch the Survivor episode I taped last night while I was out. Later.
Mary had a little lamb, two of them, in fact!
Mama sheep couldn't resist.... she got in to the act!
Mary, you are one busy lady...it makes me feel like a slug-a-bed.
Aira,,,,,,we seldom have enough snow to make Snow Angles, but I'm hoping you're going to come out to visit this spring.
Kooger...I am praying that you get the job....and you sure type better than I do and I spent years in the work force having to type!!
Molly...will you stop teasing me with pictures of lovely strawberries?? Heck! I'll just eat these grapes.
Well......all of you have a good day...I have sheets waiting for me to hang out side to dry...see ya later...Jo
Yes, Mary, I used to jump into the leaves with my kids but do not do it any more , too much dust and dirt , not like fresh fallen snow.
Must tell you we had all the farm animalsone can have and about two dozen registered suffolk sheep with their black heads and lambs are born coal black. Richard bred them with a mean one, we called him Castro since it was at that time with cuba problems, if you so much turn your back he came at you in full force, he was some ram, let me tell you.
Maria
Here are some of them in the pasture
Kooger, the School for the Deaf - Relay Center job sounds like Providence!
Installing baseboards today and a little landscape planning. Be back later for a pick-me-up. :)
Yay Kooger, I'll bet you did great on the school interview, and am keeping my fingers crossed that you get the job! Funny isn't it , how little day care pays...??...kids that park your car get minimum wage and they don't even have to have any training. Then there's teachers vs garbage men, oooh, don't get me started!!! Anyway GOOD LUCK!!
Kooger-sure understand about that job and hope that you get the one that pays a living wage.
Aria- snow angels would be good; mud angels here; as the daytime melt continues.
m5-please pass the pastry-can't get calories here!
MaryE-dishes multiply in the sink when you are not looking-it is a scientific fact.
RR- used to hand sheets-they smelled so good, fabric softener sheets just don't make it!
Darius-did you get some time off?
Julie--Is it spring yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????
I tried the linen weave brush (Debbie Travis) and I think that I got the hang of the paint brush drag-hard to see the texture-white on already white and
pebble textured white walls-but need the practice before I mount an attack on the rest of the house.
Off to the library-have nothing to read
Just finished Fannie Flaggs "Redbird Christmas"-lovely , cozy read
Tah Tah-see you soon.
Lovely shelves, terrific car, great lambing stories, pics, What a bzzy group, where do you all get the energy.
Jo, me too on hang em outside. We desert ladies are spoiled with the low humidity to dry our clothes in. By the time the second load is washed the first one can come down off the line.
I've already been off to the other side of town and back on errand for DD and now I'm thinking on whether to go out and do border clean up or unpack from Calif... stuff all over the place from unloading car.
oh heck I'll just have a biscotti and my second cuppa. I been good. /;-) ~Blooms
Molly, your pictures and talk of your very own strawberries made me want to spit. Not at yoou but nevertheless spit. Oh i'd love a fresh strawberry and while we get imported ones starting about now (which are also much cheaper than local berries) they sure don't have the taste.
I have a 95 Mustang GT convert that has never seen snow - it was the last they were making of the big motors. It's, as my husband calls it Menopausal Red ....someday I am going to get a BIG ticket in it. Just keep reminding everyone that it is the lady in the fast car not the fast lady in the Mustang.LOL> I have never had so many offers from males in stores to help me carry out my purchases. My DH thought I was exaggerating until he came with me to the hardware store. I bout 4 2" screws and the clerk asked me if he could carry the bag out to the car. You should have seen by DH's face!!!
Mary - everything back to normal with your horse?
Now Darius, can I assume you HAVE taken some time for yourself and that your sis DID get her Tetanus shot?
Julie this is so kind of you to host us all like this. Once I get my stoved fixed(oven)I promise I will bake some delicious goodie to share.
Time to try and read myself to sleep. The amount I sleep each night gets less and less pretty soon I will be down for a nap only - good thing I like to read.
Sleep well
Dianne
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE - bet I beat everyone up today - it is 2;50 AM!! Can't sleep, so thought = I might as well get up instead of tossing and turning in bed!!
Had those nasty old taxes done last night- thank goodness they didn't end up as bad as I had thought - only owe hundreds and not thousands... phew. Took my DH out to celebrate on the way home and even had a brew to laugh about my worrisome nature!
Don't have any plans for the weekend. I have been replanting african violets in my kitchen and that is an absolute disaster, so probably should clean that up (we have two kitchens=-one up and one down) I often use one as my plant fixit up place tho. Sister and husband are coming up from Indiana next weekend, so it has to be cleaned sometime!! I have a bunch of pots overwintering in the bedroom they ususally use, so that will need to be cleaned as well.
I am hoping that someone else in my family will do easter dinner as my house is jam crammed with plants, dahila bulbs and cannas. I don't have room for a crowd until I can clear out some of my gardening junk.
Kooger-have my fingers crossed that you get the job. Sounds interesting. I have been retired for two years and am just now thinking (and I mean thinking...) about getting something to do. I am so busy, that I don't know how I can fit something more in, but would like a little extra cashola to have. Thought about tutoring (I'm an x teacher), but would really like something else. Local greenhouses are hiring, but I've heard that is back breaking work and I don't want that either!! Only good thing about that is you get tons of free plants. Oh well, maybe next year.
My brother just asked me to house sit with his two girls- one 19 and the other 15 for a week. The oldest is a real pistol - doesn't follow house rules etc and has been kicked out several times. Last time they left, she thru a week long party - destroyed the house. I don't know if I am up to the task tho. Hey, where's Darius - I bet they would mind her!!!
Well, I took an allergy pill when I got out of bed and a hoping it will kick in and let me sleep for a couple of hours- anyone making goodies for breakfast?? I'm waiting for my bananas to blacked some more then I'll make some banana bread.
Good morning all,
I know, you do get the attention in a pretty car, but I haven't even driven it since I brought it home. I have been trying to stick to the old rule, work before play and by the time I have finished my chores, it has been raining. Rather, my chores were interupted by the rain.
I shut the computer down to give it a rest last night and went to watch JAG. I couldn't even stay away to watch the whole thing. Imagine falling asleep by 9:30 on a Friday night. Woke up at 11:30, shut off the TV and went back to sleep. So I'm up before daylight.
Yes, I have been out working in the gardens. So many weeds. This year this clover looking weed has just been my major annoyance. It's easy to pull, but there are a gazillion and one of them. I spent half the day just pulling weeds. Then I cut back almost every one of my cannas. They were getting so brown and ugly. I thought they needed a fresh start.
I planted bulbs from the fall coop last fall. All the alliums came up right away, although they just look like green onions, no blooms yet. But yestereday I saw one of the hyacinths peeking it's fat nose up out of the ground. I had planted ten of those, I wonder where the other 9 are. I had also received a bunch of Naked Lady bulbs from the KYRU last year. They have been working on their greenery all winter. No blooms yet. Thanks goodness for the petunias, begonias and dianthus, instant bloom gratification.
Sequee sent me some seeds she selected for my zone and I planted cantaloupe, summer squash and tomatos and some morning glory seeds. The bronze fennel and hot peppers I started from seed a while back are doing good in their flats. Let's see, I put some plants in I received from the roundup, a few rain lily bulbs, butterfly weed and I still have more bulbs and plants to put it.
I did get the 38 hibiscus yesterday from the coop and a box of plants from a trade. I got all those potted up. Thank goodness for those spot lights in my patio. I ran out of daylight.
I sure wish spring would get here for yall up north. I think you have had enough of the cold weather and snow. It's time to get outside and enjoy yourselves! Alas but it's still February.
Today I go shopping for clothes. Since I had a weight loss I went once and bought a few items for winter, now it's time for warm weather clothes. Mardella goes with me as advisor and she does a great job, keeps my spirits up and let's me know when I need a haircut.
Last week I found out a friend from out of state had sent me a gift certificate for a day at the Spa, but it was sent to the wrong address and I never got it. So he sent me a food package. Ham, strawberry preserves, honey, biscuit mix and buckwheat pancake mix. So, are ya hungry? Pull up a chair and help yourself, there's plenty to go round.
I spend way too much time by myself. When I find an ear to bend, I bend it almost to breaking point. Sorry for being so long winded.
Everyone have a great day and enjoy the pancakes.
Molly
:^)))
aria, I love the snow angel too. Even though I don't know your age, I'm printing the following poem for those who have not seen it. It is definitely me.
WHEN I AM AN OLD WOMAN
I shall wear purple
With a red hat which does't go, and doesn't suit me
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops & press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railing
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.
And wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and a pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and thing in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good expample for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.
Good morning every body, have some coffee and just some toast with strawberry jam.
Thank you,WS, for sharing that poem, it is like me! I am a great grand mother
and most of the time (probably all my life, lol) I do as I please.
When I told one of my daughters, I made a snow angel, she laughed and said "go to it, Mom"
The neighbors are not shocked to see me running down the street in my night gown, chasing a cat with a squirrel in its mouth till it drops it, so they would not be surprised to find me prone in the snow to make angels.
Molly, oh, do be your age and have such a neat little red car My husband bought me a sporty little car a long, long time ago. I was maroon with black leather seats, I think it was a Mazda but am nor sure.
I am a night owl because I do not seem to be able to go to sleep, sometimes I don't even bother to get undressed till about now when I change my clothes.
Guess I find it hard to be all alone with no one to care for
Roadrunner, I keep appreciating you invitation, I know I will take you up on it but this spring I will be in Austria an just a few days after that in the Canadian Rockies and , though it is not a sure thing, in Australia.
Imagine what my beautiful garden will look like when I finally come back??? Can't do much now, snow is still plenty around here, temp. is 18'
Maria
Hello everyone. Lets see, hot water for tea, I brought another box of assorted herb tea flavors. No goodies, thanks, I just had a big breakfast. Hubby and I like to go out for breakfast because we learned long ago that the later in the day it gets the more the meals cost. So, being cheap, we go for breakfast or lunch, but rarely go out for dinner.
Aria, is that Austria or Australia? Either way it will be a nice trip. How long will you be gone? Will you have access to a computer so you can give us updates now and then? When do you leave, and come home?
Red cars! I love red cars! My hubby let me pick the color once when we were buying a new one and of course I chose red. We have had 2 more red ones since that, one was a used car, and the other was a 1 year old brand new leftover that the local dealership was getting nervous about since the new ones were already on the lot. That is the time to save money and get a car with a warranty.
In about a week I will be up with you nightowls when I start checking for newborn lambs about 1 am. After a couple hours out in the cold it is very hard to go back to sleep. Do you also go over to that nightowls thread on Jokes and Chat? Usually I go to bed about 9pm and am awake about 4:30 or 5, but lambing hours are a challenge. By the time it is over I am pretty tired. I do go to bed earlier but that 3 or 4 hour hole in my sleep just gets me farther and farther behind. Then I have to readjust to not having to get up in the middle of the night.
Wow, Molly you have been busy. Good for you on the weight loss! Be careful in that nice little red car. Did you know that red cars seem to be going faster than they are for some reason and that can get you a ticket if you have a heavy foot?
It's another beautiful day, yesterday got up to 55 and today is supposed to be just the same. So outside I go. See you later.
Argh!!!! I'm just upstairs to grab some sugar before I drop. I got the shakes real good...knew I shoulda stopped sooner. But I was planting my herbs and some flowerseeds that needed to get in the dirt *early* :-D
Mary...I'm SO thrilled with the results I'm getting with using that chamomile tea for watering my seedlings. So far, I've lost absolutely NONE! Woweee! that's fantastic!
Hi to everyone...once again, no time to stop and chat.
I'll try to stop by later.
~julie~
Hi, GOB's... Mary, I've been really thirsty all day for some herbal iced tea, Thanks! It's been in the low 80's all week but cool at night. I'm going to hate going home to cold weather.
Had some luck at yard sales today... got a decent rattan set with a 1/2" plate glass top for $20, to use on the screened porch (which lost most of it's screening in the hurricanes and hasn't been re-screened yet). The cushions (one is still in the garage) didn't come with the set but she had two that fit okay. We'll put a candle or something over the center hole in the glass. (It must have had an umbrella at one time.)
We got a nice boston fern @ Lowe's to go out on the porch, too. Just need to assemble the bench she already had, and hang the fern. Voila! Instant porch!
And so much more appealing than an empty porch. You are doing good Darius.
Enjoy the warm and just think it could start warming up by time you finish to go home. It isn't exactly spring here in my high desert and about twenty degrees cooler in the day - but we've got sunshine and for winter it's smashingly wonderful.
Florida and So California may get the nicest winters but it's good to be home.
This chamomile tea thing - I missed it but do I 'get' that watering with tea [how often?] keeps dampoff from happening?
Now I've been out to the PO and up to DS's to fetch the dog. She's mine for a month now while he and wife are off for a trip. She doesn't mind at all... I spoil her. So we're off for naptime. BBL - still astounded at all the energy. ~Blooms
wonderful, Darius, that is just the kind of things I like, my porch has ratten Furniture also , it is down cwllar now, can hardly wait to get it back where its belongs, the thing is it is very old from the twenties and it is slowly unwinding in places, wish I knew how to fix it .
Mary, first I will go to Austria, as soon as I get back am going to the Canadian rockies and in the fall i am tentatively planning to go down under to Australia.

Maria
Maria, I thought you bought a laptop?
My Dad bought some 5-strand rattan many, many years ago, a living room set. Too bad he didn't keep it, it would be worth some $ now. The old stuff is really collectible.
I did buy a lap top, Darius, but did not care for it, gave it to my daughter to her amazement, LOL, it was sort of an unplanned valentine present, she has daily use for it with her job and I did not use it as I thought I would. Sort of a mistake on my part.
