my friends credit card # got stolen off the internet this past week. they made charges and they showed up on her account. thankfully she reported these charges and they stopped her credit card and is issuing her a new one.

she hasnt been any where in the last two months except to two nurseries on line . so the bank is thinking one of them is not secure enough.

so please check out the sites before you buy and their security measures.

these charges were made out of the country. so it can be from anyone anywhere.

please watch your statements and you accounts closely.

Thanks for the head's up, it is amazing how clever some of these crooks are when thinking up scams.
If someone stole my financial identity they would be real dissapointed. With the mortgage, the car payment and my student loans that might be paid off by the time I retire they probably could'nt get a bus ticket to Tupelo.

So true....
also watch your receipts from store....many don't show whole card number anymore, but I had my card number stolen off a receipt a few years back. Make sure to destroy them once you're done with them.
Thanks for the reminder!

Hellobebe ... have you guys noticed that our signatures are now on the credit card receipts ?

Also .. would like to add another tidbit of info .. that some folks just don't stop to consider ...

Should you find yourself using someone else's computer systems (acquaintance, friend, employment, Library, etc.) ... I strongly urge everyone to refrain from visiting any websites that may require critical personal information, such as user IDs, passwords, acct #'s, or other information to sign on!!

There are many forms of software (and hardware) .. that is 'out there', and is being used (and abused) .. to retain, acquire, and harvest such information !!

One canNOT be TOO paranoid .. when it comes to such matters ! !

We had our credit card # stolen, too. It was over 6 months ago. $1700 worth of charges in less than 2 days. Fortunately, we weren't liable for any of it. The process of filling out all the forms and affidavits afterward was a hassle, too.

yes i know i saw my friends paper work today. theres enough forms to last a lifetime.

i wont use mine on the net anymore. its a bad world when you cant even buy from a online nursery with out getting stolen from.

wow 1700 dollars. they only charged 32.00 she knows of but she stopped her card. new charges can show up but she wont know it now since its in the banks hands.

i hate thinking of it.

We don't do credit cards anymore. But we do have debit cards. One we keep for our personal finances, and one is just for use on the internet. That one we keep at a zero balance and transfer funds to when we are making a purchase. That way, if anyone gets the account number or card number, there's not money and they don't have access to our livelihood.

It happened to me also they charged 96.00 called the credit xard company and they are going to give me a new acount number.I wont be using them on the internet anymore.
