subscriber surge?

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Is it me or am I seeing a surge in subscriptions this past week?

There is probably a surge you're seeing. Last year our surge began in January and ended late May. We're expecting the same thing this year.

Your graph is pretty exciting.

Just curious if those are NEW sign-ups or if they include renewal subscriptions as well?

Still surging I think.

langbr,

That's a good question. I would like to know the answer to that one myself.

That's probably a little more difficult for Dave to parse out - to the system, a subscription is a subscription is a subscription ;o) (Not that a report or graph can't be generated, but I know he's got a whopping pile o' todos that he's working on.)

If you watch the new subscriber activity from your homepage, you'll get a sense of how many new signups are occurring, and whether the pace is slowing down or speeding up.

Oh, yes. I still send out welcome messages to each new subscriber. I used to be able to go for a couple of days in between sending out notes. Now, I have to look almost every day. Yesterday, I sent out two batches. It's absolutely amazing how many people are signing up - and it's only going to get better as we anticipate the end of winter.

It is so nice that you send out welcome messages. It made me feel very welcome to DG when I received mine.
Keep up that great work!

Well, I just figure that this site is pretty big. It might help to have a "friendly" hello and a contact to go to if someone needs to ask a question or two. Thank you for your kind comments.

Hi all,

The graph shows all subscriptions - whether renewals or brand new subscribers. It's hard for the system to differentiate between the two.

One day I think I'll try making separate graphs, but that's got a LOOOOW priority.

What a fabulous validation for the feeling that people are returning to the wonder, the joy and the peace that only gardening can bring. I have noticed more and more that many friends who felt like they had "brown thumbs" are coming to ask for gardening advice. I always direct them to this site.
Thank you for this graph!

How interesting that it hits its highest rate in late August.

I always have "Green fever" at summers end. a natural pension to purchase live goodies for the house. The spring surge brings those looking for advice on something new they are trying plant wise.
