Ok, back to the mites. That is what we started on wasn't it "thinkdirt"? From what I gathered is that the Shultz at Wal mart :

Ther is another product that you can find at WalMart. It is made by Schultz and is the Garden Safe Brand. The Rose and Flower insect spray is the best. Kills everything and the eggs. Think it was about 6 bucks for the spray bottle about the size Kareoke posted.
What is great about this one is that it can be used for veggie and fruit trees too and does not harm the fruit. I went and bought me about 7 bottles of the stuff. Love it!
Is what works best for mites and then the Safer stuff for the aphids etc. is what we want.
Jeanette
do you ever get rid of spider mites
Thinkdirt,
Did you ever get rid of your spider mites? If so, what did you do that did the trick?
Jeanette
My son just gave me a new Garden book, has all kinds of stuff in it, this is recomended for Spider Mites , in a bucket mix 2 cups of wheat flour 1/4 cup buttermilk, 2 gal. water pour the mixture in a hand held sprayer and douse your plants from top to bottom
I've seen the buttermilk recipe on several organic websites, plus it is a 1970 Gardening Book I have, has anyone here tried it on Brugs?
Just checked my book it is 2004 it says to use on all flowering plants
jnette, it is really weird I have never had spider mites on my babies, but the 3 large ones are a continous problem I am always spraying them. Also those 3 have never been near my babies and my other ones. Why would those want to drive me nuts I have no clue. I have promised myself that this year we will conquer this problem or die trying LOL.
read a recipe that MaVieRose posted with Tea Tree oil, I think I might try that if I can find Tea Tree Oil around here nothing to lose right
OK, you made me look. The other day, after all of your bug talk I was in Lowe's and got an all purpose one and after looking closer it says, Now! Effective Spider mite control.

BUT......while we are on the subject of bugs. I joined the birthday club here, what is the best method of insuring that you aren't sending out anything that would not be appreciated. What do you all do before shipping?
Before I look at your Ortho link I have to say that the buttermilk trick sounds like something Jerry Baker wrote.
Now will check the link. Thanks.
Don't know anything about the b'day club.
Jeanette
I don't think DG has a birthday club. What forum was it on?

Where did I see that, let me go look. I know the lady doing it is Kauai17.

Think that's where I saw it
That Ortho looks like a pretty good product. It is kind of what I use only mine is a granule and this is a spray. I sure would try this before I spent that kind of money for Avid.
btw, I need to use my shelving that the brugs with the spider mites were on for somet other plants. What would you all suggest cleaning them with? Jeanette
Jeanette, I use H2o2 for cleaning both my flower and dog stuff, it's great. Bleach will work too. Any thing that disinfects will work...J, I hope your weather is as nice as mine is today !!
I use the Ortho product. You can get both kinds ...one for spraying which is what I do and the good thing I like is it last for 30 days and doesn't wash off with rain. It's the best I've encountered yet far. No mites *crossing fingers* and also you can get the granules.
