I have never recommended a movie before, but The Notebook just came out at Blockbusters this week. I was home with my dd and she wanted to see it. The only actor I know in it is James Garner. The movie is a love story involving Alzheimers and is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Just thought I'd pass on a way to spend an enjoyable couple of hours.
The Notebook
I read the book, by Nicholas Sparks (the author of Message in a Bottle). I am eager to see the movie. I absolutely love the book and have read it several times! And I love James Garner. My mother has always been secretly in love with him, so I have a special fondness for him myself, especially after seeing him in Ya Ya Sisterhood.
I highly recommend the book, in addition to the movie. It is so touching and thought-provoking.

My dd (age 16) read the book and said it was fantastic. She is now a huge Nicholas Sparks fan. I'll have to borrow her book and read it.
I'll have to try to find the book. sounds good. thands for the tip
Yes, I'd have to agree, I saw the movie 2 nights ago, I swear I had to get up 4 or 5 times and pretend I wasn't crying, it was a happy, sad, just wonderful movie, I absolutely Loved it.

I saw the movie in the theater with Howie and a couple friends. I cried my heart out at the end. I don't want to give anything away -- but the most heartbreaking to me was his wife's reaction when she'd "go away" again. It took me a good hour to bounce back from that movie...But I'd see it again. I definitely want to read the book!
Is this a new "just out" movie? Or is it available on video yet?
It's just out on video, Shoe -- go get it! It's wonderful.
Great! Thanks, GW. Will be sure to have a looksee...(sounds like I better pick up a roll of tissue for tears, too).
pins, thanks for the recommendation. I just looked it up on netflix and watched the preview. It looks like a great movie so I added it to my netflix queue for the next one they send me.

Buy lots of tissue!!
Love, love, love this movie. Read the book, saw it in theaters, read the sequel, then bought the movie last week. The characters are great and just the way the movie was filmed was great. Not to mention such a great story. Noah is the best.
Is it an ok movie for children? I have 9 and 13 year old girls. They only get to watch G and PG. I have to preview PG13. Sometimes they are the same as R.
My older daughter wants me to rent it. What do you think?
Here's a good read regarding that, FlowerFan86: http://www.christianitytoday.com/movies/reviews/notebook.html
An interview with the author, Nicholas Sparks: http://www.christianitytoday.com/movies/interviews/nicholassparks.html
Thanks Gardenwife...
I will try to rent this movie this weekend.
My two married children saw it..and even my sons shed a tear..
my neighbor rented it, seems like the store she rented it from gave them a coupon for a box of tissue!
She loved the movie.
I just love this movie...I couldn't wait for it to come out in video!
I saw this last night....wonderful and lots of tissues for sure....even my hubby.

We rented the movie so my dh could watch it last night. Before my dd got back with it, dh started watching some shoot 'em up with Brad Pitt. It was so boring even HE went to sleep! Tonight is The Notebook night. (She said, hopefully.)
Thanks for the recommendation Pins--we watched 'The Notebook' last night and both cried!
We just got through watching it. Very seldom do you find a movie that makes you think, laugh and cry.....What an incredible movie!!!
