Going to Irving, TX for work next Tuesday (through the following Monday morning). I've never been to TX before so I'm looking forward to it...especially since it's winter! :) I might have crossed the border back in 1992, from Louisiana....when I was stationed at Ft Polk. I rode my motorcycle over to the Toldeo Bend area and I think at some point I crossed into TX...but only for a few minutes...lol Not sure I'll have time for anything other than work, meal in the evening and then relaxing in the hotel room....but maybe some day I'll get back there and have more time to look around.
My old bike photo attached - photo taken in Germany (when I was stationed there - Army).
Watch out Irving, TX...Here I come!
have fun, didt you go to Oregon last year or so? It seems I remeber you traveling wih your job to the pacific northwest, or am I just inventing stories...
Hows the baby?
I was supposed to go to OR late last year, but the job got pushed back. So now one of my co-workers is going in my place (to OR). I can't go to OR because that job is too close to the time when the TX job happens. :)
Baby is doing very well. He sleeps much better at night. I think he's starting to get a good pattern going :)
Hey, HC, enjoy Texas! Are you bringing your camera?
It's funny, when I read your post- I did the same thing - DH was stationed at Fort Polk and we went to Toledo Bend and then briefly took a ride into East Texas. I've been wanting to go back ever since!
We were stationed in Germany too.
:)

Yep, will be taking the camera, but it'll probably only be snapping pictures of the phone equipment I'm installing...lol I don't really have much time for anything else.
I spent 3 years in Wurzburg, Germany. Back when the 3rd Infantry Division was still based there (they've since moved to Ft Stewart, GA I think. Wurzburg was a pretty place. I could see the castle from my barracks window. It was just a mile or two away up on the hill :)
LOL..I am on my way to Irving, Tx, myself today to a nursery that sells persimmon trees. I will be getting 2 trees.
Enjoy your stay here, I hope the weather co-operates although we are to have more rain tomorrow night, into Sunday. At least it is not freezing anymore..
Kris
Ditto what Kris said! It's still winter and it still gets cold here! Well Kris, maybe it's not cold, just "cold to us." Ha! I am about 15 minutes from Irving. Wish you could see Texas in the spring or early summer instead, though I wouldn't wish July or August on you! LOL! Funny thing about folks from the north who actually move here for one reason or another... they never move back home! My SIL (from Boston) informed me that once y'all thaw out, you can't bring yourselves to go back to the cold!!! :)
Isnt that a fact..I was born and raised in North Dakota, moved here from Ohio..will NEVER go back north for a winter ever again. I LOVE it here.
(yes, July and August do get a little intense...lol)
Kris
btw..I got my persimmon trees, although I had to stop for directions twice......
Can't wait to get them into the ground and producing persimmons.
