Needed: Baby Afghans

Crossville, TN

As some of you know, I volunteer at the Widowed Support Center at our Army Base (Ft. Huachuca) in Sierra Vista, AZ.....Although our primary function is to work with the Casualty Office and the Chaplains Office, we have other programs we have to work on....as I tell the ladies..."It keeps us out of bars"!! LOL

One of our pet projects is to give a baby layette to any soldier's family (E-5's and under in rank) that has a new baby.

Since our ladies are getting older and some of us don't even crochet or knit...we have a hard time making enough baby afghans for this project that gives us so many smiles...insted of dealing with death's of soldiers and retired military.

We also use baby sweaters and hats, booties...any thing new...like new born baby clothes that are new...or look SO new that they could be included in the layette....

If any of you would like to contribute to this cause...just let me know. Wandasflowers was kind enough to send 2 afghans and the ladies were amazed how great a group I belong too....and I agree!!

The sizes of afghans should be 25 X 35 or 30 X 40....and made from 3 ply yarn...no heavier.

Thank you in advance for any of you that would like to donate to this cause....tax deductable.

Here is a picture of our building....the Army lets us use it and it is one of the older building on the Ft...so no structural changes can be made...we have a kitchen, a room with tables and a desk...and 2 rest rooms and washer and dryer....We are open every week day from 9 AM to 3 PM....and on Wed. we have a "work day" where we gather and work on our "critter" projects and "baby Project"....one of us will take turns fixing lunch for the group.
